Who has used an InstaPot?

My mother in law gave me hers and the chicken I cooked in it was tender and flavorful. I realized that was probably the first time in my adult life that I have cooked a whole chicken. Up to this point, I've only cooked Cornish Hens or wings or breasts.

I use my InstaPot to make brown rice, beans, and soups. We rarely eat meat at home, but the one time I used it to make corned beef I was impressed.

Love mine! It gets used at least two to three times a week and it is th best way to make hard-boiled eggs and yogurt!

I bought some prepackaged InstaPot foods from Williams Sonoma. They were really delicious. I'm still a l little afraid of it because it makes so many strange sounds. I always think the top will blow off!

I recall a story about Martha Shedd and an old-school pressure cooker and a beef stew that was blown almost to smithereens. It was stopped by the kitchen ceiling before it went too far...

Anyway, I am curious. Can those prepackaged foods be used in any other way?

I love my instapot. I steam all sorts of veggies to perfection. Rice, pasta, soups, chicken dishes, hard boiled eggs, potatoes, roasts, one pot dishes are so easy and delicious. Your pressure cooker should not be making noise other than the bit of hissing steam as it builds up pressure. I think long ago were the tales of them exploding. I just bought a silicone cover for the steel pot and 2 new rings for mine. And yes, you can slow cook but I prefer my Crock-Pot for that.

I have an Instant Pot and they come with a lot of safety features, which is the only reason why I got one. Like you, I've heard of stories of older pressure cookers blowing up. I also got one of those thingys that direct the steam away from the kitchen cabinets when you release the pressure. Mine is a hippo.

I took my Instapot on our Mexico trip last year. Whenever we got sick of the buffet, we would cook up something healthy. I still use it to cook brown rice, lentils and soups sometimes.

I use mine five to six times a week. I live in the south and it's just too dang hot to heat up my kitchen. It's the best hard-boiled egg and yogurt maker. but I've learned to make all kinds of other things in it and I appreciate the fact that I don't have to plan and can throw dried or frozen things in and still have dinner in about an hour without having to babysit.

It isn't an Instantpot but one of the lookie-loos that are similar to one. Quick beans! Oh Yeah. Also got one of those induction cooking plates that boil water really fast. The only thing is they only work with certain pots and pans Cast Iron works great but is heavy.
