Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Had our big family dinner yesterday. Going to watch Hubby play hockey and go for lunch.

House work. How does it get so dusty.
I absolutely loathe dusting! I'd rather clean my toilets! Just a quirk of mine.

prince, what did you have for dinner?
Today's trivia. Pumpkins. Nothing about Linus and The Great. Just that Morton, Illinois is the home of pumpkin canning plant and Illinois grows some ninety five percent of pumpkins. No, you do not have to know how I found this utterly mind-boggling today's trivia. Yes, it is tempting to accept pumpkin pie bribes. But, no. You can wonder forever, or not longer than a nanosecond, why.

You want to have fun, Yahoo News today has a story about the pumpkin spice bump....apparently some finance org documents the price differences between non pumpkin spice and pumpkin spice based items.
We are truly a wealthy country.
Waiting for the big hat sandwich company to lto pumpkin pie spice encrusted bacon on something... Can we get a mystery shop for that? Anyway, found 1973's Two's Company on Tubi. Elaine Stritch and Sir Donald Sinden make it so fun... grinning smiley

Finished my taxes and girlfriend's as well just in time. I always mail it, and was able to get to the post office that closes at 6 PM. The person in front of me appeared to be an administrative professional mailing out a bunch of tax returns. Thankfully, the clerk asked her if I could jump her in line. Got there at a good time. The line was going into the lobby when I left.

Tonight is a good dinner. The next three days will eat, sleep, exercise, and work around the clock.
@oakie. Thanksgiving dinner was Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, Tik Tok cucumber salad, fennel salad, sour dough bread.

Pumpkin pie, carrot pie that tasted just like pumpkin pie and maybe had a better texture. Pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Cake

And good company.
Carrot pie??? For dessert? Hmm. Any savory recipe for this as well? Must look for info. Love love carrot soup and would probably love any version of this pie, too. Don't do TikTok but wonder how closely any cucumber salad recipe from TT matches that easy, yummy salad from many of our family meals... Will make our recipe asap. Yum!

I would never have known that the carrot pie was not pumpkin pie. Add Pumpkin pie spices to pureed carrots, same flavour as pumpkin.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I had roasted butternut squash for the first time recently. I was surprised that it tasted like sweet potatoes!

For some restaurants, I've been liking some of the pumpkin flavored items. Some bars have been using pumpkin spice to rim the glasses and using cinnamon sticks to stir.
Perfect fall day. Hike in the morning. Weiner roast for lunch. Skip the afternoon hike and sit by the fire, with good friends and wine.
No more trail maintenance until April.
Met best friend for lunch and shopping. Was gob smacked walking into "Bed, Bath, and Smelly Works" to browse for longer than 5 minutes and realize there were no associates on the sales floor. I stood at the check out counter and said something must be wrong as there is no one else here. Suddenly two associates showed up from the back room. Oh if only I were doing a shop there today. Can you tell I have low tolerance for scented products?
House tasks. Bleh. Workout. Yay! But the reward for all that good behavior is a fun dilemma: watch funny Brit shows, read something, or take a much-needed nap?

House tasks, then half day in grade two.
Finally, someone got the message I like half days grinning smiley
Remember, to bring thrift shop box. There are a couple errands I save for that town.

Also, there's an Esso. But do I want to add a mystery shop?
prince, Not sure if it’s the same shop, but did an Exxon for the first time on the way back home from work. Not bad, but not my favorite.
I did an interesting gas station shop today....
First quirky thing was a man following me around the store as I was trying very hard to surreptitiously take the required photos. Finally, in frustration, I turned around and just stood there, looking at him.
His comment? "you just can't put that phone down, can you?"
Me: "no"
He turned around, got himself a hot dog from the hot food counter and proceeded to the cashier.
I finished my photos and headed to the counter to pay for my purchase.
There was no staff to be found anywhere...ugh. and I had to document a purchase interaction at the counter.
The man who followed me was at the cash register, carefully dressing his hot dog...how weird to do that at the register instead of at the condiment bar.
I was craning my head to find someone, anyone, finally a cashier arrived. No name tag of course...lol.
Glad to be done with that one.
BarefootBliss, was this Circle K? Fortunately, I haven't run into any of those kinds of issues.

The XOM Site Experience I did today was the only employee who gave me any kind of trouble. After he read my LOA word-for-word, he said that their address isn't on it. I had to show him the address on Presto. But after, he let me do my thing. I broke the ice by asking if he would to be in the picture of the front counter. He finally cracked a smile and laughed, and asked to please not include him in the picture even though he was wearing a uniform.
@Okie
It might be the same one. But it had to be after dark. Dark comes early already, but not 4. So I happily avoided it.

I hate photos.
yes Circle K....I have never had these issues before....only at inner city Sunocos...don't do those any more lol.
will be a long day....couple of gas shops, then grocery shops, then meeting family at a historic inn for family gathering...the place sits on a river bank and this is close to peak leaf season and supposed to be sunny today...looking forward to this.
Will be special as this was our mom's favorite place, so we're doing this in her memory as we are now at the one year anniversary of her passing.....my brother said he will order a shrimp cocktail in her honor (mom loved seafood).
Sounds like a lovely tribute @BarefootBliss

I will go hiking with my Sunday hiking group. I'm woefully out of shape, but will still enjoy.
Leaves are pretty much done, but it's a pretty river valley any way.
So the current read starts with a cliff hanger and segues to the basic whodunit questions: who, what, when, where, why, how, who said so, and why did they say it? 'Whose Agenda Is It, Anyway?'

Love the page-turner, endure the house tasks. Enjoy Autumn!

I put together 5 boxes of stuff to be donated. Hoping that I might fill up another box before they are all scheduled to leave my home but if not, still happy with the 5 that are all ready to go. Can’t wait for the extra room next week.
G3B, glad to hear. Starting last week, I have been making some progress towards cleaning, throwing stuff away, organizing/categorizing. Also, working on cleaning and organizing files on my computer, and getting financial records in order.
Yes Okie, that is next on my list. Computer files. I spend so much time in front of the computer as it is that I never want to do the computer files. At least the decluttering of the clothes and household items feels like I am doing something different and I treat it like a break from work.
