What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Picked chokecherries and picked up sticks in the yard. Hubby wanted me to ride his newly repaired quad, so I used it to pick up windblown branches. Had a weiner roast after burning all the branches. Used done of tomato harvest to make tomato sauce and lasagna. Not sure where the rest of the day went.

Scarfed down too much Chipotle after work. Now I can't get off the couch.

Trip to the gym and a couple of errands. With the expected 'feels like' temperature to be close to 110 degrees my only goal for the rest of the day is to stay cool!

I think I experienced that once. In our camping trailer that does not have air conditioning.
That was the beginning of September in Nevada. By the beginning of October, back in Alberta I was very grateful for the furnace. -3°C and snow covered.
Could this day get any hotter! Subbed for first grade. Initially, my goal was 2 days a week. But, more half days mean I can work more. Tomorrow, going to be a special ed resource. My DL is going to expire so went to the DMV yesterday, which was also a very hot day but luckily, it didn't take long. I also requested a Real Id.
Enjoying new-to-me authors. Ready for longer walks now (huzzah!). Contemplating another diy hair trim. Do I really want the layers that blow into my eyes? Probably not. Can I afford a cute pixie cut that looks bad after just three weeks? Absolutely not. And so it grows...

Worked, vacuumed, dusted, washed 3 throw rugs by hand while sweating bullets. We enjoyed watching 'Project Runway Masters' tonight. So much talent.
Celebrating that today marks 40 years since I first moved into my current home.

Heading out of town for a fellowship business meeting that runs all day tomorrow.

Worked, picked Mom up. We watched "Little Lord Flauntleroy.". Sweet, life affirming movie; 1936.
Sweet little day here. A little laundry, a little celebration of tasks completed which will never happen again, and the prospect of comfortable patio time later. It is, among other ideas, National Heroes Day and Just Because Day.

Our internet went out last night, and a series of phone calls between Hubby and provider determined we need to have a technician come out. The first technician appointment is Thursday afternoon! This morning I texted the downstairs neighbor to see if she was having similar issues. She was not, but graciously offered the use of her wifi.

*Thisclose* to graduating from leg appointments to leg self-care at home. One leg already arrived. The other leg is nearly there. !

A great last August weekend. All ladies were home bound this weekend. They did marathon laundry, cleaned up their space and then did the same with DH to address the garage. Sports equipment and related attire were all over. Saturday dinner at our favorite local Italian restaurant. DH in all his glory with his braised short ribs. Sunday fabric pumpkin workshop with Mom. Such beautiful work if I may so myself. All 5 ladies went to see 'Barbie.' Great movie. I thought it would be silly but enjoyed it so. I laughed so hard at the Kens and Kendom. Find yourself. :-). Commuted to work today and will need to do so the entire week. Signs of the pre-pandemic work 'norm' is starting.
In the musical happy place, this time with Claudio Arrau. He is one of my many fave performers. Listening is enough. But when I watch/listen on Youtube, I get his facial expressions while he is playing. e-mailing back and forth with a wonderful scheduler re: eom shop. You all have taught me well. If I self-assigned, I would get the posted job board fee but not the eom fee that was published in the scheduler's e-mail. Must be careful to make the acceptance compliant with the best fee, you know. Considering one IC travel day. It would be quite madcap, more than a little fun, and downright exhilarating to complete the number of gigs needed to be profitable for the miles and long work day. Will I do it? I really might do this because I could also see parts of my beloved state that I have not seen in a year or two. For now, I need to follow the updated schedule for the first days of the month, which now includes eom bonus. After that, I can work in a long gig day. I think. Hmm. If there were a conveniently situated movie shop, I would go to the Barbie flick. Can a movie mystery shopper wear barbie pink, big hair, and barbie shades? grinning smiley

Worked; I can see the back to the office transition. We have had many meetings regarding this and I would be so thankful for a continued hybrid schedule. I do not think it will happen. Transportation stipend ends Oct. 31. Sadness.

Went to an outdoor concert tonight.. Fabulous group and loved the Motown vibes.
@Shop-et-al. I want to live in Barbieland, Where women rule, every day is the best day ever and every night is girl's night. LOL. We all truly enjoyed the movie.
I am so over LED light bulbs. The one in the lamp on my nightstand blew out. They are supposed to last forever. They are supposed to be bright. None of the above.

Errands. Lots of errands. Then, a reading treat interspersed with a workout spread over all the in-between chapters moments. Can you believe that we have reached the end of August and Autumn is just weeks away?1

By some standards, autumn begins tomorrow, Sept 1.

Yup. Critters here have been on the move. They do not need a human calendar.

Hubby and I played tourist in our own town this morning. We toured the main library (a Carnegie library which is on Fodor's list of the most beautiful library's in the nation) , saw the Vietnam exhibit at the Soldier's Memorial museum, and got lunch at a diner. I had a Junior Slinger (hamburger patty, fried potatoes, and egg all covered with chili).

Subbed for third grade yesterday. As I was saying bye to them during their lunch hour, one of them hugged me and said she wished I didn't have to leave. Oh my heart!
Watching a 1953 movie on Amazon. Friday is husband's turn to make dinner so I will be resting.
