What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Pleased with the day. Hardly anything went as planned, but everything has been handled. A few things have been improved. Fabulous!

Soon, I will help with kitchen clean-up and straighten my area.

Exactly. I got the seeds from Home Depot. The packet had written on it, "Cats go crazy for this grass."

Lately, she has been looking at one counter with curiousity. It is where I planted her cat grass seeds. The pot is in the windowsill garden.
Uh-oh! Wonder if there is some sort of tantalizing aroma coming from it that only Pepper can smell!

I DIY'd my bathroom blinds. I bought them from Amazon in 2020 and had my handyman put them up in 2022.

I had 3 Day Blinds come out because I thought they would leave the measurements with me. Nope.

Depending on what type of window coverings you want, they can be a cinch or quite complex to put together. However, that way you get exactly what you want.

I had a window dressing company come out to give me an estimate. $1200 for my living room alone. I'm going to DIY and have my handyman install.

Finishing a Dash-In report; getting dose 1 of the 2 dose vaccine for shingles. As of 1 January, Medicare will cover his! Hurrah! Dose 2 on 2-4 months. Kitchen clean-up.

Some friends are coming over tonight. We'll go out to dinner, then come back here for dessert/coffee/games. The condo hasn't had a proper cleaning since before Christmas, so that's first on the list. Also making a Carmel Oreo pie for dessert and cooking black beans in the Instant Pot to freeze for future use.

So far so good. Completed 3/4 of designated walking time and will finish the rest in a few hours. Feel stronger today than I have in weeks. Have set house task goal for the next 7 days: together, hubby and I will straighten and/or clean kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom and hallway. My tasks in each area will provide minutes of walking every day and make the place better.

I volunteered at the food bank this morning. I've noticed a cute quirk about Pepper: after she eats her beef ragu, she hides under my bed. That reminds me of dorm mates with eating disorders.

Honey, I installed Mouse for Cats on my iPad. Kitty likes it for about 10 minutes. We have fun watching him
I turned to a cat channel on YouTube for Pepper to watch while I'm out. She was so curious, she jumped up on the console and swatted one of the birds. Luckily I was home because the tv wasn't mounted.

Oh... Speaker Joni Earickson Tada... Such a sharing! This powerful and anointed presentation was on Pilgrim Radio but will stay with me forever.

Yesterday's shingles vaccination yielded total lethargy today. And, of course a rather sore arm, but that is totally to be expected. From what I have read, the lethargy may last 2-3 days. Good reason to plan this vaccination for the Friday of a three day weekend. I might try binge watching movies of mystery series on TV. But then, again, I may be too lethargic to decide.

Got outside to enjoy weather nice enough to wear the lightweight winter coat. Youngest Son came for dinner, and afterwards we played cards.

A nice weekend...TV watching, cleaning, church, sorting bills and trying not to spend too much...
Experienced my Christmas gifts this weekend with DDs. Loved every moment. Friday night cooking class. We made ricotta and
potato gnocchi and pesto sauce. They gave us wine, LOL.. Saturday day at a Spa. Infinity rooftop pools with water and city views and so many pools however you like it. Saunas galore, foot path massage and a one hour deep tissue massage. I skipped the cold plunge pools and waterfalls. Dinner at a trendy trattoria. Today, a fabulous play. DH picked us up and took us to dinner at a great French restaurant. The best was spending time with my lovely DDs. They are the best.
Wow. That was the best rest I have experienced in a year! Our place is looking better, and all is well.

Hubby and I were going to check out the closest branch of the YMCA with an eye to joining, and when I saw a bonused shop for that very location I checked with the scheduler to see if he could come with me and signed up. I always like to get paid for something I was going to do anyway!

Other than that, semi-monthly grocery shopping and a couple of other errands.

Just got back home about 45 minutes ago after having a crown placed in place of my left, lower back molar. It looks so purrrrrty!!! My dentist is awesome! It was interesting for me in that, this is the first time in my 69 years that I've ever had ANY type of local anesthesia when having any dental work. I'm typically a "drill and fill" gal, but he convinced me some time back that I would really benefit from having some local anesthesia this time, so I did. And I'm glad. I made sure he did not use any with epinephrine in it, since that makes my heart palpate too much. All in all, it was great! He was able to save some of the original tooth, so that made it easier for him to "cement" on the crown, so to speak. I didn't need a root canal, so that was good...saved time and money! So I'm back home now, and my mouth has awakened about 85%. Still sleepy in spots, haha! The total time was just under 2 hours. The technology today is awesome!
Yay. New "bed"-- actually an overstuffed recliner-- arrives on Thursday. Had tried to do everything on the cheap and failed. Lesser furniture had the hard plastic arms which hurt and began to make arms numb. Can't have that! I have slept in an overstuffed recliner before and loved it. This new recliner will be supportive of me, place me in the supine position for the doc approved exercise program, and elevate my knees above my heart. Perfect!

Monthly lunch with friends I met in 1967! Might only be 2 of the 7 there but nice to look forward to.

I'm watching a great movie, "Sideways." I first saw it with a screenwriter (different movie) when I lived in LA. It's one of my faves.

I let Pepper out this morning and forgot. I closed the screen door. When I realized she was missing a few hours later, I opened the door. She came running in, screaming at me the entire time.

So the chai/bed involves a learning curve... I got in it yesterday, brought in teddy bear for twenty extra degrees of warmth, covered myself in the softest blankie, and slept all day. All Day! Obviously, I needed that rest. But it was too long in one position. Today, will try several sessions of 3-5 hours each. I will not be so stiff when I return to typical chair and will get some benefits of being in a different position. Eventually, muscles here and there will be stronger and my use of all furniture will sort itself out as time passes. Until then, we have to get rid of the detritus from the chair's packaging, rearrange a few things, and place the chair in a better location. That, along with laundry and Wal-Mart pick up, will fill the weekend. Phew. Next week will be calmer..

Printer is all messed up. Need it for a few more pages. Wish I had a hubby who could be trusted with cash or card and list of pages. Such a one could print at library or FedEx Office. Still waiting for replacement cards from the last time he tried to use them and got them shut down. Put out a sort of SOS call to a trustworthy person. They couldprint at their office and be paid via petition to the court. Hope they can help! Meanwhile, it is sunny and pretty outside. Love how the sun glistens here and there! smiling smiley

Tried to get my car out of the driveway, but the wheels just spun and my car slid this way and that. Another snow storm is expected tomorrow, so I'll be staying put for a while.
