What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

@prince..I know Minus 19 was a relief in the sense it was minus 28 that felt like minus 42 for 2 days straight!
We went in our car, not walking (wouldn't daresmiling smiley to our Walmart which is less than 0.5 miles away. At least, we could walk and my daughter who was so cranky being inside since the schools closed was happy.
The whole store was packed with ppl. More walkers and less shoppers.
Now, the good news for next week is it will be all warm and balmy since temperatures are expected to soar above plus 9.
Also, someone please suggest something good on Netflix, Prime..anything..I've run out of things to watch..preference:Thrillers

My Dad, brother and I watched a game while my Mom fried lunch. Got a kick out of my Dad calling us "crumb snatchers."

I got my Dad a single malt Jack for Christmas. I also got a kick when my Mom threw one back like a champ. For breakfast!

@HonnyBrown..wish my mum was as cool as yours! My husband got a 12 year aged whiskey, a wine bottle, and a goodies basket for the holidays. We are Brandy people but we'll keep the whiskey and maybe re-gift to someone who will enjoy it.
A few months ago, I stopped by Lidl and got a small fiddle leaf fig. It died a slow and painful death. I went to return it today only to find out they were were out. Now, I have to nurse it back to health.

Mom is a diva. That's why her whiskey stunt was a shocker.

With Dad, it was a given. Me, of course. But Mom throwing back a whiskey??

I am off this week and loving it. Young ladies, 3 beaus and DH leaving early AM to go skiing and returning the next day. My sister is coming to spend the day and night with Mom and me. Brunch at home and Chinese takeout for dinner. A movie if we can decide on one and together time. Furry baby loves my Mom. He snuggles up to her at any chance including bed time. It is still too cold for my liking.
Quiet time prayers with G just now put a buffer between today and yesterday. While it was too fun to catch hubby in the act of looking in the old place for my credit cards, the ensuing row took a toll on gi health, energy and general well-being. Today, I am focusing on my personal stuff. Straighten, organize, deal with messy issues, and rest as needed.

Daily tasks until my world is ready for 2023. My heart is ready for it!

Pepper has discovered outside. I had a productive day at work. It's amazing how much I get done when I'm not being held Zoom hostage.

I finally prioritized my home improvement projects. The top items are a landscaping project and light fixtures.

Watched 2.5 hours of Hell"s Kitchen last night. Mom, sissy and I giggled. Had no idea there was a new season. Laundry marathon today. I must have walked up and down the stairs 50 + times. Some things do not require full drying and some need to be hung, etc. Planning our New Year's eve menu and ready to face shopper crowds.
Laundry. Clean out 'fridge, shampoo carpet, set up pre-paid card for bankruptcy process, and get a few groceries. This weekend: ontinue to amass info.for my bankruptcy submission and check out Hoyle's from the library and identify more card games to learn. We need to expand our repertoire of no-cost entertainment. And, learning card games is good for brains over time.

Leaving in about 25 minutes to take hubby to nearby Urgent Care. He's had 10+ days of sinus congestion, post nasal drip, cough, fatigue, sinus drainage which is now thickening up and turning brown-ish. The thing is....he's never had a fever!! I've done EVERYTHING you can think of OTC to get this cleared up, but no go so far. So, it's time. I believe he has a sinusitis. I am grateful for these on-line appt set-ups with urgent care. I can keep an eye on the queue....right now there are 8 ahead of him, and we have about a 35 minute drive. His appt is for 5 pm, so if we leave shortly after 4 pm, we should be good!
One of the light fixtures I am replacing is a pendant at the top of my stairs. I found a gorgeous crystal chandelier at Shades of Light. It's a sparkly starburst as opposed to the dangly things. I bought it this morning. Next on the list is the ceiling fan for the bedroom.

Took daughter to speech, grabbed unhealthy breakfast...when daughter was down for a nap, worked on the huge pile of laundry that has been sitting in the recliner for a month or two. I was so happy when I could finally see the chair. Maybe that should be a New Year's Resolution - no clothes on the chair!
Well, the staff at the Urgent Care were all so nice! The dr said that after 10 days, it's time for hubby to start something. So he's on Augmentin for 10 days and prednisone once a day for 5 days. Time to kick this junk good-bye!!
Vindication. Wonderful folks at one of my credit card companies confirmed that hubby is being/has been being scammed. Substantially less of me entering 2023 than there was at the beginning of 2022. My team lost their bowl game. But I still love them. They got to a bowl game! grinning smiley

Hors d'oeuvres are are almost ready. All frozen with exception of deviled eggs, arugula with balsamic vinegar and mozzarella with tomatoes. Staying in tonight. Will decide on a movie and watch the ball drop. Happy New Year! 2022 was exceptional in our opinion.
Fun time at brunch with my niece, nephew, and brother. One shop. Little one is at Dad's so I've been tidying up and watching Lifetime movies. Getting sleepy but trying to stay up to see the new year,
Today is the annual purging of the closets. And grocery shopping. I'm out of bread, and my fridge is almost empty. Mom stocked me up with leftovers.

@HonnyBrown
I threw out a pair of shoes and a cookie tin. I can't seem to purge ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
Beautiful, balmy day that reached almost 60 degrees today. DH washed our cars and vacuuum'd them. Guess we shall have to give him a tip, ha ha ha. I went to Trader's Joes yet again today. WOW, still a hoard of crazy shoppers including myself. Talk about purging closets? I complained about DD's plentiful FLEECE jackets in every color cluttering up my spacious closet downstairs. I have a rule now. NO BULKY items. A sweater takes up so much drawer space. At my suggestion and demonstration, they have tried to hang them. Not working. Their closets are PACKED tight.
A lovely Snowshoe and chat. Great way to start the year.
Found two muffin tins to get rid of. Might take a century to unclutter at this rate
What a beautiful day! It started foggy but then the sun came out and it reach about 65 degrees. We went on a long dog walk, took down both Christmas trees, and a shop with my brother for some Chinese food!
Purge seems so... Strong! Lol! I just look around and see things that I will release with ease and respect. This will happen more and more as bankruptcy process winds down and ends. Meanwhile, tomorrow I will add one lap around the apartment-- complete with with crutches, supportive slippers, and affirmations. It does not sound like much, but the crutches relieve discomfort, which enables me to do a little more work, even if work is the stuff of doing those laps! In a few days, I will go out for the first time in months. Just to the bank parking lot where staff will assist me with changing an automatic investment amount. And no one will see that I am wearing thick slippers, haha! Never thought I would need so much extra assistance! Goal: stop needing this extra assistance no later than when springtime begins. smiling smiley

A part of me wants to purge and become a minimalist.
I hope you improve soon @Shop-et-al. It wouldn't bother me to go out in slippers.

@Prince, minimalism is the way to go. We all have too much stuff with exception of DH. I know when I was my DDs age, I had clothes, make-up, accessories coming out of my ears and enough for 6 females. I tend to wear my few favorite things over and over again and try to instill that realization in my girls. I threw my 2 muffin tins out years and years ago. Too small and too much work to bake in.

Today is cold and damp. Another laundry marathon, it never ends. Cleaned up and vacuumed the bedrooms. Had afternoon tea and cookies with Mom. Prepping for dinner and a relaxing evening with Chef Ramsay, LOL.
I respectfully disagree. Minimalism is too stark for me, as is its opposite. Both conditions are disproportionate in my world. However, at this time I need to reduce some things and change the overall proportions of what remains. And I need to do this gently. grinning smiley
