What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Waiting impatiently for medical equipment to arrive. I am eager to get started on this program. OTOH, listening to beloved holiday/seasonal music of all types and eras is a beautiful part of each day. So far, radio provides this variety and I have not needed my collection. Easy peasy listening, haha! I feel that this music during treatment sessions will be ineffably additive-- and perhaps only so for me because I love the music so much and can appreciate and assimilate the synergy. If music alone were enough, the condition would not have arisen or would have dissipated within less than one nanosecond of my awareness of it. Music as adjunct will be wonderful in my world.

I am TOTALLY bummed out (and a little resentful) that today's Covid test was also positive. Other than a slight cough I feel fine, but of course cannot go any place where there are people. Interestingly enough, Hubby has continued to test negative, so he's doing all of the errands.

Having lunch in a bit with my BFF. She's had it so rough! Being treated for colon cancer the past 3 years, and a few weeks ago, she fell while walking with her husband and injured her knees!!
Reflecting on other things: despite his faults (chiefly being a gaslighter), hubby is doing a wonderful job of prepping our place for inspection and doing all the in-person shopping, other errands, and some of the cooking. This is invaluable because I have been unable to go anywhere and do many tasks for months. I hope & pray that my treatments will work quickly so that I can resume activities and relieve hubby of the work load.

Over the weekend I ordered some gifts from the Kohl's website. The first of the packages arrived today, and one of the socks in a ten-pack had a large, obvious pull in it. After a five minute online chat a new package of socks is being sent.

We got our Green Cards in 2018 and now it's time to apply for citizenship. We just filled up the forms and now will wait for the next step, the Civics Test.
We have been thinking of buying a new car and finally settled on the Honda CRV. We didn't like the Nissan Rogue though the dealership agreed to knock off 6k from the MSRP. The CRV looked better and had better space. The weather is getting rough each day. Tomorrow will be taking out and putting up the Christmas tree.
Welcome (in advance)! How great that you will soon be citizens! smiling smiley You already are a productive person here, so citizenship will be just grand!

Sympathies. Hoping your symptoms remain mild and will be short-lived.

A few years ago, I got a pillow from Aldi. I haven't seen it since. I took it to Mattress Warehouse to see if they had a similar one. $225.

@HonnyBrown: Is the pillow made of gold, or something?!?!?

Today a crew will be here all day to tear out the existing (nearly antique) HVAC system and install a new, energy efficient one. The new heat pump unit will not need the harmful gases that older ones required. It will be a noisy day at home, and no heat until late in the day. Workers due here at about 8 AM. It is a chilly, rainy day. In spite of noise, commotion and chilly house, it will be a great day!

I sent a question to my physician's office yesterday about Covid tests and got back a surprising (at least to me) response. I may continue to test positive for weeks, but as long as my symptoms are improving and I have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medications I can return to normal activities as long as I wear a mask for the remainder of the ten day period. I have never been so excited to do errands and grocery shopping!

In other news, we have a plumber here to replace faucet shut-off valves and add a water line to the refrigerator.

Monthly paperwork. Finishing laundry. Then, working in kitchen. No cooking-- just cleaning, dishwasher, and straightening. Cooking is just reheating previously prepared dishes. Finally, do the work out that is best done there, where I can spread and reach and really stretch. Mmm! Aaahhh! Oooohhh! That will feel so good! smiling smiley

I can do more tasks as long as I am careful not to overstress feet/legs. Figured out how to divvy up house tasks and have established what seems like a reasonable schedule for weekly cleaning. Will test it next week. Enjoying how sunshine graces my place. It is a soft, cheering glow all day. smiling smiley

Had to go to a client's office today. Such a beautiful workspace and I got to drive. My company's holiday party is next Wednesday at a posh restaurant. White elephant gift exchange with a $30 minimum. Have laundry running now. I am hoping to get all loads done tonight. Sooo cold, brrrr.
In honor of Maria Callas birth date, I am listening to her Ave Maria. Later, I will listen to Bocelli and Caruso versions. Who knows what other beautiful renditions are out there? I have known of the major versions of this song for years, but thus is my first listening binge. I sort of backed into this song via the lovely Streisand version. Even non-Catholics and sticklers can appreciate the great music. So what if Schubert had written a poem for something else? We now have this Ave Maria, which is moving and meaningful to some people.

In the mundane part of the world, today is for laundry and finding new homes fot items on a catch-all table. We will then play cards and possibly do other activities at that table. Easy day..Feet/legs will be happy.

Fasting blood draw this morning. Later, bank (again!), Aldi, home to do more laundry and run dishwasher. Possible nap. Sorting, organizing and filing paperwork that is piling up in the "office" area of my living room.

Grade one French Immersion. My French is not good enough to read picture books.
¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
I was able to figure out the worksheets, with their help. LOL

Stayed up late to make new- to-me recipe. Yum! Everyone who raved about it was right. Will make it again. Then, I fell asleep in the kitchen! After my little nap, I completed foot/leg focused exercises and a general workout. Later: wash & curl hair, more of my seasonal music binge (Lo, How a Rose and The Holly and the Ivy), and identify a few more musical joys to binge listen. It is so fun to experience the variety of presentations.

Getting ready to watch Team USA World Cup game. I am not used to having TV on in the morning, so sitting on the couch at 9 am feels very strange.

I forgot about that! I meant to keep up with the Team USA game online!

More laundry and more KP. Also following up to get price bids for 2 jobs. One is some minor fixes to the ceiling and door in the basement apartment kitchen. The other is a much bigger project for spring 2023: replace the wood floor of my large deck with Trex the composite material that will out last the house and needs little maintenance. My next door neighbor of 39+ years is a licensed contractor and I get "friends and family" labor rate from him. Since he will also be replacing his own deck floor with Trex next spring, and Trex is manufactured in West VA (low shipping costs to MD) we should get a good price on materials. He also passes along his contractor discount to me.

Did some holiday decorating inside the house. Pouring rain today so staying inside. Binge streaming Xmas movies.

Steaming fresh crab for dinner tonight. With garlic butter, steamed broccoli and garlic cheese bread. Yum!
*professional announcer voice* In the skilled educator champion corner is the incomparable prince. (The crowd cheers and roars for their fave.) In the challenger corner is... a nekked, squarish contender. I have never seen such a mismatch. (The crowd is silent and seems puzzled.)
What? Nekked square is disqualified for not wearing sanctioned shorts and gloves?! Well, incomparable prince wins by default but would have won an actual contest.....

A few house tasks. Following along from one great to another in my immersion/binge listening. Jessye Norman's Ave Maria... then Leontyne Price's... and on to Mario Lanza for new-to-me songs mixed in with the
well-known faves... Mmm. This is so.good I might never stop!

It's not made of gold, but it's firm and comfy. Pepper loves it as well and has taken ownership.
