My Medicare shop was at a hospital about three quarters of a mile from the house, so I walked there and back home.

Electric companies will buy your old fridge for $50.

I considered doing that when I got my Big Girl fridge. The benefit of extra freezer space negated that plan.

I remember doing that at my old house! Eventually the electric company incentivized us to buy a new Energy Star rated freezer, which was also self-defrosting. When we moved to the condo there wasn't room for it so we sold it to the buyers.

How's your foot doing with the walking??
Lots of household chores. Getting ready for a 3-4 hour energy audit tomorrow. Hope to qualify for a MD state program to assist moderate income seniors with costs of energy saving home improvements. (Many thanks to Honny for alerting me to this option!)

Much better. Thanks for remembering and asking. My chiropractor visit on Tuesday was the key to getting back on track.

I went to the market to get some wet kitten food for Pepper. I forgot to get food for me. I take her to the vet tomorrow. I hope they can fix her vile breath!

Early in the week the temperatures were substantially below normal. Today and tomorrow they're substantially above. We ate dinner on the deck.

Midnight-ish snack with hubby yielded leftovers for later. For the weekend: sort, shred, rearrange, read, work out, laundry, and read some more.

Wine store, grocery store, post office. Later, conditioning my very dry hair; deciding what to cook tomorrow for suppers next week.

Yesterday Hubby went to the urgent care to diagnose his lingering cough. He came home with a diagnosis of Influenza B. Last night I felt like my lingering cough was getting worse. The right side of my throat and my right ear hurt when I swallowed (and I couldn't figure out the origin of the pain). This morning I went to the same urgent care. I do NOT have either strain of the flu, nor do I have any indication of an ear infection or strep.

The nurse practitioner's suggestions were the same things I've already been doing-rest, liquids, salt water gargle/neti pot, decongestants. No magic bullet :-(

Miserable night dealing with ear/throat pain every time I swallowed. I know the issues will pass, but it's hard to convince myself of that at 2 am.

OTOH, the maple tree outside my office window is a blaze of yellow and orange, and makes me very happy.

Washer died mid-cycle. Lots to do with wet laundry before it can go to laundromat. Lots more to do to get another washer.

Oh that's frustrating @Shop-et-al.
When we bought this house in 2011, we immediately had to replace the fridge, then the washer, then the stove, then the dishwasher. Haven't replaced the furnace or hot water heater, and I'm wondering when we'll have to start replacing each thing again. Never ends.
House guests are fun but for me require lots of attention, extra effort, time, expense and work. Laundry marathon all day today. I have been doing extra loads due to my home's increase in population that has now reverted back to normal. Towels and linens! I am proud to say I am 1.5 loads away from catching up. Requested an earlier date for our cleaning service.
So thrilled with the completed amount of sorting & shredding & rearranging (oh, my! grinning smiley ) Not so thrilled with how this makes feet/legs feel, but why quibble. A boatload of work is completed! And my work load has been eased! Huzzah! As these projects go away, more time is available for the basic cleaning. We do that ourselves. All is well. smiling smiley

Hubby and I went on an adventure today to Tower Rock, a formation and island in the Mississippi River about two hours south of our house. Thanks to a pretty severe drought the river has dropped so much there is a land bridge from the shore to the island.

We thought that there wouldn't be a lot of people there on a Monday morning, but we were wrong. There were probably a couple of hundred people walking around the formation. The gravel road to get to the area was pretty gridlocked going in, and even worse going out, but that was the only negative part of the trip. Instead of taking the Interstate there we chose to add about 15 minutes to our trip and take a state highway (although on the way home we went the more direct route).

Phoned in sick. Spent day on the couch watching Hard Rock Medical. Was sick for my hike yesterday too. Forced myself out for a stroll, and fresh air.
Planning to work tomorrow.
DH has Covid. He looks, sounds and feels horrible. He has to stay in his man cave. Thank goodness we took my Mom back home Wednesday night. She is feeling fine but I am still on edge. :-(
Husband had to fly to Las Vegas for a 2 day business conference. I had trouble sleeping after he left at 3 am so I switched on some lights in the living room and tried sleeping. Every bump and thud scares me. Two more nights to go. Packing for my trip home during Thanksgiving.
I remember subbing for subjects I knew little about. Fortunately, it was always in elementary school, and the teacher always had a back up lesson plan that anyone could execute.

Watching "Stella Dallas" with Barbara Stanwyck....what a mother's love won't do for her child!!
Still focused on the projects & tasks at home. Those essential to passing muster at upcoming inspection are nearly finished. *salute*

Saturday my friends and I did a corn maze. It was fun. My little kitten is so mild mannered and sweet. I'm still figuring out her food. Pepper is enjoying the experiment.

I work from home 3 days a week and I am in the field for two. Thankfully, I get paid for mileage and my projects are at least 50 miles away. Thursday, there is a quarterly all hands meeting to go over goals and stuff.

Years of kitty experience here. Wet food is less caloric than dry. Vary their diet, not just all poultry/beef/seafood. Portions matter. Homemade food to eat and bone broth to drink is so worthwhile.
