What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Great day so far. Up early. We all went to the bridal shop and DD's ordered their Bridesmaids gowns. I must say I love each and every one. Different styles and they look great. Delivery is 3-4 months? Happy to get this done. Then we went to Rite Aide and bought all our personal grooming needs. On to COSTCO and now at home with delicious food. I will most likely do some wash tonight while watching the Olympics.

I picked up two 6ft artificial ficus trees from Freecycle this morning. One is in my living room. The other is in the entry.

You recall the silly event that inspired a new film noir called 'The Beeping' and that is the basis for today. Together, hubby and I will rearrange a veritable menagerie of stuffed animals which I had inherited and have not built cages or other appropriate storage for, books, and other stuff that I am keeping for my retirement. What. I can't watch oldies on tv forever. Anyway, at the end of today, or tomorrow, or even the next day, all the fluffies will have been dusted, snuggled, and given new "homes" and the shredding project will be all in one place. The books and other stuff for my retirement will be contained and ready for me. All is well with those projects, if not with my retirement budget. But there is hope! grinning smiley

Church, then since the temperature should be close to 60 some type of outside activity. Youngest Son is coming for dinner. We haven't seen him in a little over a month so I'm looking forward to it.

I went to Trader Joe's before my 5Guys shop. I haven't been there for over a year. I made up for it. I have a cough that I can't shake.

On my way to church I stopped by a produce store and bought a case (8 18-ounce packages) of blueberries for $6. Each package had some that were moldy and I had to toss, but in the end there are 7 packages ready to be eaten/frozen/used up.

I took a break from exercise last week. I started this week strong with a Leslie walk yesterday and Pilates today.

Hubby has cataract surgery this afternoon, and I'm his chauffeur. We took a long walk this morning to take advantage of the spring-like weather. By the time the surgery and post-op is over it will have been 14 hours since Hubby's last food or coffee. When he's had other procedures done the staff invites me into his prep room until they wheel him off. I'm trying to decide if I look like an unloving spouse if I leave him at the front desk and go get him some food and caffeine to inhale after he's released.

I left my garage freezer wide open yesterday. A freezer full of food wasted. I am kicking myself!

Oh no!

Yep. Most of my Trader Joe's stuff from yesterday, the groceries I got on shops, my 5G milkshakes. I don't want to, but I have to empty it and build from scratch.

Oh, my goodness NOOOOO! On the bright side, it's a great feelng to start from scratch or have a nearly empty refrigerator. The times it's happened to us is during Blackouts during a storm. Grrrrr. The last one we had lasted four excruciating days. Our full refrigerator/freezer was emptied. We have a generator but it is not a whole house one.

I cannot wait to logoff from work today. I detest Zoom meetings more than ever. Phone calls are a PITA. I apologize for complaining and should be thankful I have a great job. I have done many loads of wash. I went to Target during my lunch break which lasts all of 20 minutes; I took longer. Had my laptop in the cart, LOL. I bought many BURPEE seeds. Organic ones if they had; Tomatoes (the seed packet says 1-2 lb. tomatoes, YES!), Cilantro, Zucchini, Peppers, Nasturtium, California Poppy flowers. I always spend a lot on big flower plots for each side of our decks as well as for the front of our house. We shall see if I can do it myself. I saved the pots from last year.
Time flies when you don't have to work! I was off Friday through today and I still want more. I love being home and doing homey things although I'm grateful for my job. Today was small dog walks, phone calls, a few errands , a 10 minute nap, all before picking up DD from daycare and taking her to speech and then the night routine, Tomorrow will be up at 5 am and a fun day in Kindergarten!
Up early to check on weather & roads and play Jumble. I was punny today, and I won at Jumble. Hah!
Now, I need to work out and pack my worst case scenario merch kit. This is the one that contains extra clothes, a blankie, and enough frou frou stuff to keep me from scaring the unprintable out of unsuspecting souls who might encounter me after a few unanticipated hours on the road. It does not do, you know, to be mistaken for road kill when all that really happened was the grueling road trip felt like it was killing you for a few hours. But, seriously. The last time we were on a little road trip, we were stranded and mistaken for homeless, nutty addicts. That experience was informative, eye-opening, and a disheartening reminder that it is not enough to bring a blankie for warmth and a morsel for sustenance. It isn't even enough to be in the largesse zone giving the blankies and morsels! But that concept is for another forum.

@Madetoshop and @Shopper797: Sometimes, it is difficult to remember why we can be grateful for jobs. Fortunately, we can vent about them here and carry on there.

Driving Hubby to his first follow up appointment after yesterday's surgery. Celebrating "Twos"day in some way. Thinking tacos.

I did a 20 minute Pilates walk and a Pilates core class this morning.

I worked, SURPRISE! I placed an order on SAYWEEE.COM. As a first time customer, you get $20 off a $35 order. I found the soft TOFU I usually get from the Asian market. That egged me on. I bought the tofu, fresh produce including Bok Choy and baby Bok Choy, Chinese Sausage, sauces, Sesame oil, Vegetable Gyozas, Bean Sprouts (cleaned), fresh lo mein. We shall see. I paid a little over $15.
$15 is a great price for all of those ingredients! I love international markets. The one that I go to has an entire aisle dedicated to dry beans.

I am going to check out the SAYWEEE store.

Must wonder: how many web pages does one entire aisle of dry beans require for proper or equivalent display? Inquiring minds and beans fans want to know. Meanwhile, the only shopping I am doing right now is mystery shops, separated from the merches. Long story and no one's fault for the less efficient work days. Just the weirdness of here, as usual. Not so bad, though, because I will have shorter work days and the time I need to pack and move stuff from point A to point B. That is another long story, which has an extremely happy ending. Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far, away, a mystery shopper, etc. took on so much work they got buried in some of it at home. Then one day, a serendipitous event occurred which transformed all of the work forever....... and the long-neglected projects were put on an enforced schedule and all was well in the kingdom far, far, away. The end.

@HonnyBrown @KathyG, I will post when I receive my saywee.com order. So excited that I don't have to drive to the Asian Market; it's about 18 miles round trip for me. There are referral codes too that will get you more money off.
That is a curious question. My international market with an aisle of beans and 17 types of chorizo doesn't have a website to order from.

Okay. I didn't know, and couldn't imagine, comparing bean shopping online and in-person. smiling smiley

So today is for a little road trip, a little communication about re-locating project stuff that has been here too long, and a little quiet time before hubby wakes up and we start the day's journey. At least the wind chill will lift during this road trip, and the end will be warmer than the beginning. Aaaaahhhhhh... I am thawing already! I must say this after a few weeks of seemingly endless weird events: It is a treat that I can put project stuff aside and fetch it from storage as time permits. Obviously, having it all here at once has not been effective. I can also keep everything that is important to me. It has been good to study the glossary for the underlying legal issue. Who knew there were so many ideas involved in this one simple thing?! But I am a nerd and find that fun.

Bottom line: Win-win-win!

Winter storm #3 came right on schedule, and there was a little glaze on the street when I rolled out of bed. Thanks to all the c#@p that we're received I've already done all the inside jobs I want to do. At 11 I realized that the neighborhood road had been salted and it looked like the arterial was moving well, so Hubby and I drove to the mall (about a half mile) and walked.

A second wave of weather was projected to start at noon, and sure enough when we drove home there was a little sleety stuff falling.

It's overwhelming. They also have a bin of dried kidney beans. The bagged beans are all of the typical ones and ones I have never heard of.

The fresh meat case is in the back of the store. It includes whole fish. Last week, I got some black bass. They filleted it and packaged it up nicely.

Up early to get the kinks out-- I fell asleep with my head on the desk. This stretches my back and pretzels a few other things. Since I am awake, I am giving myself the pleasure of nerdy fun with retail history. A few people have posted these interesting history and geography lessons for my region and other areas. I wish I had thought of doing that!
