What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

@maverick1: Wowza!

Work, unknown extra work, and covid shot # 1. Every day, I go all mushy and quasi-zenish and hope that someone will come along who wants the extra work and can start and finish on time (when supplies are on time). Sometimes, I say it aloud. So far, nothing. But I keep hoping.

Yesterday, instead of working so much on projects we went for a drive. I wanted to look at trees and trailheads. The trees were just... not healthy. This has been happening for a few years. I will have to find out if the decline is due to beetle kill or something else. It is not the same fine fir forest that greeted me when I moved here. The trailheads were okay. I did not think there was too much snow farther down the unseen paths. I want to start with little walks in the woods, haha. OTOH, it is supposed to snow again soon. This might delay my hiking on the easiest trails.

I smashed a hard drive once. It was great fun to take all my frustrations out on it.

Anyone else build their own computers?...

I built my desktop computer from components in 2011. Now ten years later, one of the hard drives in my RAID 1 setup has failed.

I bought two 2TB hard drives on Amazon to rebuild the RAID only to find out that the seller is sending out old drives from 2012-2013 that are marked "new." Needless to say I returned them for a refund. Be careful buying such items online. Immediately check your items to ensure warranty coverage is valid.

Anyway, after hours of teardown, reconfiguration, reboots, and file transfers, all is working fine again. Instead of trashing a whole computer, only two smashed hard drives (to protect personal info) will be discarded.

Recycle, renew, wear out!

Counting down Hubby's last 100 days of retirement. Today marks 80 days, so we will be looking at our wedding photos from 1980.

I went to walk to Post Office, then walked again to try to find blue mascara!! No one in town has it and no one in town has sponges for eye make up application or mascara brushes!! So I ordered from Amazon!! I wore makeup on my birthday bash and feel better with it on. I am 68 now. smiling smiley
Happy Birthday!

A couple of years ago my go-to baby present was a Silver Eagle coin placed in a commemorative sleeve. Today I called around to all the coin shops in town. They all say it's unavailable.

I got my Wantable clothes subscription today. Since I have a week+ to decide, I will try everything on tomorrow and take the returns to the USPS on Friday. I also go my whiskey barrel planters, so Saturday I will get dirt from Big Lots.

Saturday is the food bank, but I am sleeping in instead.

The usual: a few tiny house tasks while waiting to hear about work and extra work, completing that work, and doing whatever else is possible when I finally return home and contemplate the meaning of a boatload of tasks, the universe, and everything. Top priority: decide how to stimulate something with my stimulus card.

Today after shopping the latest senior community for "Mom" I will go to two thrift stores on the way home. Some of my early spring tops are looking pretty shabby.

Belated Happy Birthday @heathershops. Hope you had a great one! My mum will be 66 this July. Maybe I can send her something like this!
Watching the drama surrounding Morgan and Markle..
The Activity Director at my shop told me they were celebrating the Popcorn Lovers Day holiday today. I came home and told Hubby about it; he thought we should celebrate too. After work we drove to a popcorn store five minutes from the house and bought some to have for dessert

A few days ago, I got a blue crash screen with some foreign text. I don't know what that was about.

Work, more work x 3, and still more work x the shortest shift possible. Meanwhile, enjoy sunny skies and melting snow. Perhaps the heavier snowfall in the mountains will yield a decent spring runoff.

Leaving in an hour or so to drive halfway across the state to attend a business meeting of an organization I belong to. The event will be hybrid (both in-person and Zoom), but I know the organizers are taking social distancing seriously and it feels safe to be there,

I walked to the Post Office to mail my mom a greeting card and went along the riverwalk. Then I had a snack, water and rode my bike for the first time this year. Wow, I took some great photos with beautiful blue sky, mountains in the background and ice on the lake in the forefront. What a great day to be outside. smiling smiley
I'm considering another paint project to add to the list.

Hubby had his first Covid shot today -- Moderna. So I went along with him just to make sure he was OK, which he was. No adverse side effects. My first shot is scheduled for this coming Monday -- it's scheduled to be a Pfizer shot, so we can compare notes, haha!! We didn't want to get our shots on the same day, in case one of us felt bad, the other could minister to the ailing one. Then later today I had my Echocardiogram, and then went grocery shopping. Then we went out to eat and now I'm home chillin'.
My work day ended at 1pm. Prepped soup, put a load of wash in and went shopping with my Mommy. I bought her PJs. Went to the supermarket and bakery. Hands on lesson on making a beautiful charcuterie board. Family movie night.
The food bank is today, but I took today off to sleep in. I'm running some errands today and meeting a friend for lunch.

I'm in bed with my coffee and my Moto. When I get up, I have to walk to the store and buy batteries for my new phone.
An all-day meeting (from 9-4). Then I get in the car and sit for two more hours for the drive home

Phew. Most of the extra work was completed on time. That is rare! For some reason our extra (sub) areas frequently lose regulars and end up with subs like us, who often begin late because they do their own work first. So for one day there was nearly perfect customer service. What a concept.

I walked to the store to get batteries and ended up getting fresh made banana bread at health food store, nail top coat, strip steak and fresh asparagus at Tops along with batteries. Nice sunny day but chilly. Now I am doing laundry. smiling smiley
Posting a whole lot of stuff on 4 Freecycle groups in/near my area. Gotta free-up some storage space here !!

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I just received my second shot - Pfizer - Wednesday. That packs a wallop, but it's better than having the virus and be sick a lot longer than 24 hrs. Although I usually get a reaction and am sick after getting the flu shot.

Good news for you and your husband. You get to go back in 3 weeks to get second shot - hubby in four. You will be able to take care of each other. smiling smiley

My parents got Moderna. Dad was fine. Mom crumpled like a wet noodle. She is pretty frail though.

The place we chose for lunch did not have any adult drinks. They had "I turned 21 yesterday and don't know what to order" drinks.

I had more fun at Aldi next door.

@kimmie,
Yeah, I'm a fairly tough cookie, with a fairly strong constitution at my age (68 in 3 weeks). I feel like my immune system is pretty hardy, so I hope I do OK with the shots. Hubby today just felt a little more tireder than usual after his first shot yesterday, but no other side effects. Arm was just a tad sore but is OK now.

Neither hubby nor I ever take the flu or pneumonia vaccine, so how we react to the vaccine, especially after the second shot, will be all new to us!!
After having both groups of students back in the building, I'm ready for a rest day! Just watching some reality tv. and doing stuff around the house. Today was my daughter's (1yo) first time going through the car wash. The look on her face was amusing! She was like what's going on?
Snow day! We all expected this. Yesterday's soft, tender snowfall felt sweet and looked innocent. It never changed. It layered and layered and layered until it had given us enough for a widespread wet blanket, closed roads, and necessary indoor options. It will be lovely to stay indoors and do a little of this and a little of that. This is a rare treat for me. I simultaneously hope that everyone will be safe in place for the duration.

Happy to report that most of the sudden-onset vaccine symptoms have resolved and the aching arm is down to a dull roar. This is an unusual situation. I never had reactions to immunizations throughout childhood, and I had no reaction to my recent flu vaccine. I would contribute this to the combination of long-standing lack of sleep and the time of day. Early in the morning, I can process just about anything for that day. After noon, I am on my steady march to the end of one day and getting ready for the next; I should be at home or at least doing nothing that involves a disease. On the upside, I now know how to prepare for the second shot. Before I arrive, everything for that day will be completed and everything for the next day will be ready. All I will have to do is get jabbed and carry on...
