What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Another duvet day it seems. Pouring rain and our road is very muddy. I am glad the one mystery shop have booked has a far out deadline.

Hubby is about to watch Montreal Canadiens, so I will do some house work.

In between a morning Zoom meeting and an afternoon dermatologist appointment (where I had several precancerous spots burned off) I did some baking and cooked dinner.

Two locations of one of my favorite restaurants have closed. I shopped both locations frequently.

On the way home from work, I got caught in a bad rainstorm. When I got to my city, the roads were bone dry.

I have a long day tomorrow: food bank at 7am, hair appointment at 4pm and a bunch of little errands in between.

I already know what I am doing tomorrow. Work. Training for community event. Donate stuff. Sort stuff until my eyeballs fall out. Try to decide if this is the time to go deep into Nature.

I need to do housekeeping and cleaning. Then go shopping. I'm having the family over Sunday for BBQ.
Phew. I completed more today with the outstanding projects than I have done in the past six weeks. Only a few sore and tender parts are shrieking. This is a good thing. So tomorrow I get a nap (yay!) and to read more of the book (yay!).

I cleaned my kitchen and bathroom first thing this morning. I was looking at some things on the BJ's app (regional Costco) and realized my membership is expired. I will be headed to Aldi's instead.

Honny,
My long-time housemate and I let our shared Costco membership lapse because we found that Aldi and Amazon could save us a LOT more on what we bought in bulk there. (Well, except tires.) Paper products, OTC meds, chocolate, cookies, cheese, , snacks, coffee, pasta products, several sorts of canned goods (mushrooms, tomato products, soups) etc. In addition, by waiting for good sales at Giant, we can each buy and freeze meats and seafood items, frozen veggies, for less per serving, without buying in such bulk. That conserves freezer space for more bargains in small quantities. There are a few Kirkland products for which I did not find good substitutes, but I found that I can order all of those through Amazon at prices only slightly higher than I would pay as a Costco member. You may find that you can forego a new BJ's membership. I know that you excel at research and a little of that pays big dividends

I'm doing a bunch of nothing. And it feels great!

Pickled some lemons, made strawberry and blueberry jam and did a lesson on the American Flag with my daughter. I discovered two things about myself during this pandemic. One, I am great at homeschooling and I can thread my eyebrows. What I am not good at: handling headaches. That's when I blubber like a 5 year old.

wales, the biggest appeal and saver with BJ's was the gas. BJ's gas is $1.91/gal vs $2.29/gal at Shell. As you stated, Aldi's and Amazon offer better prices on almost everything else.

How are you feeling? Are you back to normal?

My work schedule changed to Tuesday - Saturday. Today I finally got my muffler saga taken care of. I got the ticket signed and mailed it off. I went to Aldi's and used a cart. Normally, I use a shopping bag and only buy what fills the bag up. When I got home and brought my groceries inside, everything fit into my shopping bag. I didn't buy anything exciting.

Checking out information about money owed me, according to a letter that arrived over the weekend. Amazingly, the State Comptroller's office told me that the source is exactly the one that they receive unclaimed funds from every year when folks do not first claim them through Meta Bank. . All the right stuff was in the letter, according to the Comptroller's rep. So, I have mailed off my claim, with ID proofs (no SSN or bank info required from me.). Then made a very quick trip for wine.

It is blazing hot and very humid, so I am actually moving very slowly. I have some cold chicken and am wondering what to have with it for supper.

There. All remaining projects are set up so that the Flylady system will work perfectly for them. There are tasks for a few minutes at a time, an hour at a time, and a few days at a time. Meanwhile, they are off to the side and I don't have to see them all the time. That happened just in time for me to place my new exercise equipment. This one is small and portable. I can use it outdoors in lovely weather and indoors at other times. I can move it myself!

I finally used my Amazon purchased dental scaler on my bottom front teeth. Always seem to get tartar build up there, but not much on other teeth.

Had watched a ton of videos and read some articles on how to use it. Hopefully, I used it correctly and didn't damage anything. Was shocked how easily tartar can be scraped off with a dentist grade scaler.

Don't plan to do all my teeth - just that trouble spot so as to avoid the dentist for a while.
Work. This was the last day of a two-day-per-week gig. Alas. On the up side, there will be some sort of work from time to time in future. Meanwhile, I can sleep, do short road trips, camp, hike the easy peasy trails, shop, or just have almost three free days each week. I work the election next week, so will not go anywhere just yet. The very idea of enough sleep, and uninterrupted rest, and actual options is so intriguing that I think I will think about it for awhile! grinning smiley

I received a letter from an unknown attorney a few years back. The letter stated that I had unclaimed funds from a state I previously lived in and it was upwards of $5,000. I checked the Unclaimed Funds website of all the states I lived in. There were small amounts in PA and KS, and $500 in CA. Nothing in the amount of $5,000.

I promptly thanked the attorney for letting me know about the unclaimed funds and told them that I would pursue the collection on my own.

Your experience is exactly why I called the MD AG and then the MD comptroller about this. MD does, in fact, deal with MetaBank of SD as the agent that sends them the funds that remain unclaimed after 3 years plus a notification period. The address to which I responded is, indeed, MetaBanks and when I called the public phone number (Found on their actual internet site) the system confirmed an account in ID that I had been provided. Apparently MetaBank does this for any gift card of several brands that the user has gone on line to register and then has not used for a period of at least 3 years.

Making appointments for medical visits (routine) and an in-person bank shop. Making chicken salad and doing some cooking ahead of items like steamed carrots and masked redskin potatoes. Kitchen clean-up, folding and storing laundry. Taking an afternoon nap! zzzzzz

I found out yesterday that I will be the point of contact for safety at the site where I am currently training. The primary will be on vacation for two weeks. That perfect timing because my site open in September.

A partial wheel of double cream brie in my fridge is calling me.

Work. Nap. Try to pin down an exact schedule so as to add gigs. Gentle workout and... shine my sink!

Last I checked, you can order them online through Costco at a 5% surcharge.

The highlight of my day was a road trip for the Census to pick up paperwork from a Buddhist monastery about 30 miles from my house, then turning paperwork into the boss. Other than that, errands and cooking.

What was the Monastery like?

This morning was a trip to BJ's to pick up trash bags and get gas. I was pleasantly surprised that the one I got came with 200 trash bags instead of the 140 that I expected.

Get taken out for lunch at Red Lobster which should be interesting as I am on a soft food diet from the dentist which doesn't end until tomorrow and no chance of rescheduling lunch smiling smiley
I wish I could have seen it, but it was closed to visitors. I met a monk at the gate for the paperwork hand off (and got an invitation to come back at a future date).
