Today was supposed to be my drug test. LabCorp was understaffed and the waiting room was overloaded with people. I made an appointment to go in tomorrow morning.

Taking several years of accumulated dead electronics, batteries, light bulbs, old fire extinguisher, etc to county drop=off (waaay up-county), then celebrating with Halal Guys lunch (not a shop). Laundry, maybe pedicure.

Went to my breast cancer support group and then did an errand. After I got home, hubby wanted to see if he could jump his riding lawnmower using my car battery, as he couldn't get anywhere jumping it with his truck. So I drove my car down to the shed where he keeps the mower, and he got the mower out. We tried, but no go. Then......I notice this GASOLINE dripping from the BOTTOM of the mower!!! Oy Vey!!! And then we look in the shed, and yup....there are gas stains on the floor!! We made sure to push the mower back into the yard far enough away from the shed. Hubby went to Lowe's and got some Perlite Absorbant stuff that's good for all types of automotive fluids, and we put that down on the shed floor, waited a bit, and broom-scrubbed it and got most of it off the floor......we think!! We left a fresh coating on the shed floor until tomorrow, and pushed the mower onto a concrete slab outside, along the side of the shed. Then he called our local Mobile Mower Medic.....great guy!! He came buy about 6:30 pm and looked it over. Seems the carburetor in this 20+ year old Toro mower has some parts that wore out, causing it to flood and spill the gas out, leaking through the bottom as it dripped out. So the Mower Medic guy is ordering one, and it hopefully will arrive in less than a week, and he'll come back and fix it. So after we got that minor debacle done, I cut up about 8 peaches. They're in the freezer hardening up, and then I'll seal them up in those sealer bags. I've already cut up 17 peaches a few weeks ago!! Our freezer is full of peaches!! But boy, do they make great cobblers in the winter!!!

Honny, hope your job is all you wish it to be!! Very happy for you!!

I am in dire need of a car. Tomorrow, I will be test driving and negotiating, thanks to Rich.

I have an entire crew of handymen working in the house (today both the powder room and the downstairs bathroom), and a glass person here to fix the windows with broken seals and sash cords. It's REALLY noisy.

Today was Mercedes and Volvo. The two Mercedes in my price range didn't work for me. One had a very busy cockpit and the other had no headroom.

I fell in love with the Volvo. Unfortunately, Manager Dude did a bait and switch on the lease price. Also, the car that I liked already had over 3,000 miles on it. How is that not a used car?

Monday will be Range Rover and Infiniti.

I was exhausted after all of that. I came home and took a nap before my burger shop.

So far, so good, overall. It just stopped raining. If it were still raining, it would be spectacular regardless of any other factor. Remember the new bed? It is as bad for me as the others. Either I am the personification of the distressed lass from The Princess and the Pea or I need is to build my own bed. Hmm.

My favorite car I ever had was a Honda.

I am entering a very different realm of car shopping today. I will be looking at 2 2018 Kia Souls, both at the same dealer. If I decide to buy one, they will have to deliver it (40 miles, one way) because I will sell my 2008 Honda Fit Sport myself. From many recent auto MS shops where it was appraised, plus looking at on-line sold prices from private parties, I know that the market supports a resale price of 3x the trade-in price. I LOVE my super reliable Honda, but I need a vehicle that sits a bit higher because that would be easier for me to enter and exit without strain to my aging body. Boo Hoo. At least the used Souls have a super rating for reliability from Consumer Reports. The issue with that rating arrived yesterday, about an hour after I found these 2 prospects on line. That may be a "sign."

I had a Honda before I got my current Dodge van. We sold our truck and the Honda to downsize, and needed a van to make up for the hauling space we were losing with the truck. We sold our Honda ourselves and it was gone within a week. My wife has a Mercedes with everything you could imagine to spoil you rotten, but I always preferred the Honda. I"m sure you will sell that thing FAST.
Thanks Coffee!

I might go back to Mercedes next week. I didn't like the Main St. type location: windy, narrow streets and traffic circles. I may go to another location.

Today is the county fair with a girlfriend.

Wales, I have a Soul and I LOVE IT!!! Went from a Durango, yuk, in 2012. My Sister, the car mechanicm got in my car recently and asked, "When did you buy this? It seems brand new". And I don't think it was related to having just washed. LoL. It's a great car! My 6' 200lb husband fits just fine, and drives it instead of his dumb Durango! Gets great gas mileage on the road and fits is those TINY parking lots/spaces.
Honny,
An MSer is the LAST person that guy should have tried a bait and switch on. lol Especially you!

I was out west in Arizona and drove through the Santa Ana mountains on my way to San Diego in Kia Soul rental and it was great. I almost bought one but chose the Hyundai Sonata instead.

Honny, I love Volvos. The thing I don't like about luxury imports is how much it costs to service and maintain them. Don't ever get a Saab. I had a friend who had one and he always had a "Saab" story, LOL. I think it spent more time at the mechanic's than he ever got to drive it.
Got a new dishwasher. We had a Maytag for 12 years, I hated it so I got a Bosch a few weeks ago, hated it too. The new one is a Whirlpool and I like the way it looks, hopefully it will clean and dry my dishes properly (which the Bosch did NOT do). The Whirlpool is less expensive, too, and the new one came with free installation from their Labor Day sale, so I talked Lowe's into refunding the previous installation fee since we weren't happy with the Bosh. Hubby is getting a nice refund back to his credit card.

The early job will be late. I should be asleep now. But I cannot sleep for as much as one hour at a time on the new bed. It is not helpful for back, side, or stomach sleeping. It is the least puffy mattress I could find, but it still pushes at me. Very odd. It is going away. I am looking for a new type of bed. This does not exist. So few people have the back issues that I have that there is no market for what I actually need! For a few years, Fr a short while, I slept on a love seat until I realized that I did not like being forced into a W shape. For a few years, I was okay with sleeping on loungers. The plain, rustic loungers ones break down quickly, and the padded/upholstered ones push me forward and into an unhealthy position. So. What is the present day Princess to do with the present day version of the Pea?

While I am contemplating that, I will be rearranging the miniscule kitchen. It has sturdy, unmovable shelves. On the plus side, they do not sag, wiggle, jiggle, or dance. It would be better to have pull-out shelves that can be moved up/down. Oh, well. The absolute worst outcome is that The Inner Perfectionist Who Needs Useful Fixtures Yields (By Default) To Blockheads AKA Permanent Shelving.

But enough of that. The day should be pleasant otherwise. Autumn is here, the critters are on the move, and all of Nature is leading the way into a proper hunkering down into the cool, and then the cold, seasons.

JAS, I'm only looking at cars that have bumper to bumper maintenance packages included.

My Nissan needs brakes and a muffler. My other option is to get that fixed.

Today was a lovely day. Nothing spectacular happened; it was just a lovely day!

My day just got better. I put a folded towel under the head of the bed and now, it is much less bad. With a few more inexpensive tweaks, I should have a high-performance sleeping unit for very little money. This is a good thing.

So it is Monday. Early job was early. We are combining car care and grocery shopping (not shops) . I am scheduling work, and the hubby is doing his personal stuff. Easy. Quiet. Feels like a day off from work!

So, I had a moment to think about what I might want to do as IC next year. Mind you, we do not know what will be available then, and I might not do any of the same gigs. I just realized that I want certain conditions for my work, and certain known assignments fit neatly into that concept.
