What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Today brings a trip to the bank, and the crew cleaning my house (happy once again). They will bring their ladder as the crevices in my 20 foot ceilings need to be dusted (i am severly allergic to dust). Home to do odd and end jobs, then a run for dinner, no shops *so far( until the 9th). Thinking of Chronic Taco's (fish)......and another day gone.

Checked the trap...NO NEW POSSUMS!! HOORAY!! Will keep the trap in the crawl space for a few more days....just in case. Two were enough!! Hubby cleaned out the gutters as far as he could reach. We'll be going to visit a dear friend in a short while. Nice, relaxing day. Rain coming later.
Between shop reports, I called Verizon Wireless to figure out how to stop the constant notification beeps on my phone. After 45 minutes, we figured out it was a notification reminder set to go off every minute.

Now I'm watching "Paris Can Wait" and reliving my trip to France in reverse. I started in Paris and ended in Monaco. They started in Cannes and ended in Paris.

MFJ, awaiting your good news.
Today brings a myraid of errands, returns, and bringing my book to SB for a read. Received a generous gift card, and getting out of the house so it stays clean. Pretty quiet in my neck of the woods. Don't feel like working, so not looking.....

Things are progressing more slowly than initially expected. No news yet.

Today brought very sad news....my ex called to tell me he is dying and needs to get things in order, and asked what he should tell my daughter, he wants to see her and she doesn't know. I'm dealing with this and very sad.
We were both mature in our divorce and put our daughter first, both never saying an unkind word towards the other. Very proud of how we handled the most difficult situation through the years, and I am in mourning.

Irene, sending a hug and understanding as I would feel the same about my ex.

Well, several weeks ago I posted about how the snow/ice storm weighed heavily on our back awning and caused it to collapse. So, the insurance company was MORE than fair in its settlement with us. And because we had just brought up our Christmas decorations the day before, and put them on the back deck under the awning, they had gotten trapped under the weight of the collapsed awning. So we were even given ample monies to go buy new decorations. So today, hubby and I are going to see if we can find any artificial christmas trees on sale. In the past we have always had a real tree, but this year, after all this, I ended up going to Goodwill and finding a real cute 4' artificial tree, plus an angel, and bought some lights and ornaments at dollar tree. We like the idea of not having to water a tree, not having to vacuum up pine needles for 3 months, and, for my husband, putting the tree out as early as he'd like! So we'll see if we can find any 6' trees that we like.
Irene - so sorry to hear, sending prayers. MF - congrats on your grandchild, a precious gift. I am staying home tonight, second time I've done this and looking forward to it. Happy New Year to all and many blessings. Safe travels if it applies.
Well, after going to Target, Walmart, Home Depot and Lowe's and finding out they were ALL sold out of artificial Christmas trees, hubby suggested another nearby Walmart. BINGO! They had quite a few trees left, and we found a 6 1/2 ft spruce, real pretty. But the DEAL was that ALL Christmas stuff was 75% off!! So what was normally an already good price of $40, ONLY COST US $10!! (plus tax). So we put the unopened box under one of our beds, and as long as we don't forget where we put it come next December, we've got our tree!!
This morning brings fresh hot chocolate espresso coffee and bagel while watching the Rose Bowl....Trader Joe's has an amazing float made out of fresh winter veggies and a winery' took first place...beautiful as always.
Years ago my sister's daughter in law grew up in Pasadena, and their home had a balcony over looking the Rose Bowl parade. The last few years brings me watching it warm and cozy in my home, since it's been in the 40's here, it's all good. Later will go to our local SB and wish friends a happy new year, while waiting for my crock pot to get dinner ready. My daughter and her boyfriend left today for Cancun, so Mom is wishing them a fun and safe trip.

After extricating a sweater from a bra hook (don't ask), i de-pretzeled myself and decided to watch movies instead of completing my task list. Why sort stuff when you can watch flicks? Actually, I have some soft of GI bug. I don't feel like doing much more than sitting and doing whatever can be accomplished while seated. There is plenty of time during the next week to sort stuff and do whatever I am inspired to do with it then. I hope that a New Year will mean good for everyone.

Shop-et-al I woke up under the weather, too. I had a headache that feels like a hangover (but had NO alcohol last night). I get up and move around for 15-20 minutes, then sit back on the couch to fiddle on my computer and snooze. Not happy about the situation, but the cat's in heaven to have an almost-permanent lap.
