Older kids today. Glad it was just the morning.
Older kids... Become older adults... Who have become the subject of a lawsuit against Hallmark. Apparently, aging casting director was replaced by kiddie version who wants to oust the older stars in favor of younger talent. I want to know: is this only ageism, or does it also involve payments to talent and a hint that audiences do not appreciate older life and love (and will not buy what is or will be advertised in the Hallmark movies). I, for one, love movies that show how good, funny, and tragic life and love can be throughout the lifespan. !

I had middle school on Monday and Wednesday. Today was third grade, a welcome break. Now, pasta time!
Just got our 22 year old truck back from a welder.
Our truck made metallic noises while going over bumps. I removed a rear wheel and discovered, NOT to my surprise, that a part of the rear suspension cracked and was severely rusted. I knew rust was going to be the killer that I'd be unable to control. Like Neil Young sings, "rust never sleeps." I got under the truck while it was on the lift at the welder's shop and reviewed the four major rusted out areas. I was given a verbal quote of $1,400 to make the repairs. I provided about $200 worth of parts to be used while making the repairs. I told the welder to proceed with the repairs.
After a week of the welder removing the fuel tank, part of the exhaust system and cutting open the wheel wells to gain access to the truck frame, all the major weak, rusted parts of the frame are cut out and new metal plates and suspension brackets have been welded in place.
I drove it about 40 miles today since the repairs. Ah, the truck is quiet again.
Would YOU have made such major repairs to YOUR vehicle? Or would you have sent yours to the crusher and bought another new or used vehicle?

I probably would have replaced the vehicle - why? because my rust doesn't sleep either.
Depends on how many km, etc.

On both of my cars, I had to get a ball joint replacement near the same time. One car, I proceeded with at a discount. The other less driven car now, I'm holding off on. But next on my list, is to go back and track services done on both cars and maintain those records going forward.

Alberta's climate is dry.
And on the roads they use sand and gravel. Our snow tends to come and stay, only thaw is in the spring. So, mostly dry.

Ball joint replacement (usually less than $50 ea.) is relatively easy especially with cordless impact guns and ball-joint press tools. It just takes a long time to do it in the driveway with disassembly and reassembly. It's at least a half day job for me at a relaxed pace. Then, while I have the suspension that far apart, I usually replace other components while I'm there. It becomes the, "might-as-well" while I'm here.

I wish I was handy! I most likely got overcharged and the cost of labor ended up hurting me, but got 20% off. They did recommend a wheel alignment while doing it. I ended up going with that too. But I think a large part of it is due to my aggressive driving.

And I have developed several disparate storylines (which will exist only in my head) which might explain the rest of the story... Are there heroes, heroines, anti-heroes, and anti-heroines? Are they just people who ran out of options? Time will never tell...

This was last night.....carpet shampooed the 3 main carpets in my home, after having just done so 3 months ago. I shampooed them again mainly because of our dog, Abe. Although he's old now (16) and spends 95% of his time inside, he still manages to get dirt on his paws when he goes outside to do his thing! And even though I vacuum, the dirt still gets there! (And don't tell hubby....but I do believe he is responsible for some of this dirt by not taking his shoes off in time when he comes into the house after working outside or umpiring a ball game!) Anyhow, got that chore done for several more months.
It is so warm in here. 75 F! My sub job was canceled yesterday at 3 pm and then I didn't pick up anything as everything seems a commute now when I am in walking distance to the school I usually go to. So, I watched this new series on Netflix Escape at Dannemora. It was so similar to Jailbreak that was based on Casey and Vicky White story. Saw about 3 episodes and it is good!

Preparing Halloween gift bags for neighborhood kids tomorrow and staying up late to finish some work. Tomorrow will be listening to webinars in the background all day while working from home. Going to take some nieces and nephews trick-or-treating for a bit in the neighborhood after. Happy Halloween!
Everything is set up for November and I have an entire month for whatever I want, I mean can afford, to do. Today, I can afford house tasks; a fave workout; and the interesting and sometimes amusing process of selecting the next book to read (or re-read).

Started the morning productive. Walked in some drizzle which felt nice and then got overdue car inspection/renewal done. Updating spreadsheets and planning to clean some.
Doing some credit card management in closing some cards to avoid the renewal on some annual fee cards. Looking to redeem a hotel reward and book it before it expires.

Falling "back" already has affected me. A wonderful, relaxing Sunday with accomplishing house stuff and what else but Sunday dinner.
