What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

It's my monthly lunch with friends I met in grade 7 in 1967.
They're coming to my house!
So I'm cleaning, decluttering and organizing the whole house. Plus making a lovely lunch grinning smiley

I don't know how people have immaculate homes

Enjoying book two of a trilogy, cleaning, and waiting to find whether I am eligible or ineligible for a gig that I applied for recently. It's good either way.

I bought a spinning scrubber from Aldi. It made cleaning my bathtub easy. It was fun using a new gadget.

Thanks @guysmom. It was indeed scary for them. My mum in law was shaking for a whole hour. Shame on those scammers. What if someone is ailing or has a heart condition?

Adding a 3/4" iron pipe railing to the basement steps to code. The railing must be between 32 - 34" from the top of the leading edge of the steps and a 1-1/2" gap between the rail and wall.
Clean the whole house. Weed the garden. Deal with some produce.
Check if the tent is in good shape.

Major kitchen clean-up. Run robo-vac throughout main level. Meal planning.

Back from a fun road trip with my Mom, #2, #3, my sister and niece. Beautiful airbnb, tours, sites, winery, farmer's markets, shopping and delicious food. Loved it and have 3 days to reset before acclimating to the work schedule.

Not near an Aldi but will look for something similar. My back might thank you if this works harder on the bathtub than I do...

Working on our household tax strategy. Making preparations to start the first of a series of annual IRA rollovers of pre-tax funds (from our employer 401K's) well before the IRA mandated RMDs (retirement minimum distributions) to get a edge on paying taxes at the lower tax brackets. If we wait until the RMD official starting year, our tax liability is almost certainly higher. Thinking ahead. Which is a Maverick trait... smiling smiley

Are you referring to Roth conversions?

Two step process, rollover, then conversion.
No idea what this would relate to in Canadian products.

I am packing to go camping in a tent for the first time in maybe 15 years.
Hubby doesn't want to drag the trailer camping anymore, it seems.

See if he feels the same way after sleeping in the tent!
Well, suddenly he is taking the trailer! It's sat so long things aren't all in order. I think he's done with camping. He said, "I'm 80, I'm done with camping."
After this, I'll l have to buy a tiny trailer or camp in a tent grinning smiley
We'll see how this week goes.

Yeah, there's just something about getting older that seems to keep us from wanting to do all the things we used to do. My hubby just turned 83, and I'm 71. Every other year for the 36 years we've been married, we'd drive the 720+ miles over two days to visit family in PA and go to the local fair. It just hasn't been in us to do this for several years now. Our vacation for the second year in a row is renting a LOVELY cabin in a state park about a 2 hour drive away, and vegging out for 4-5 days. It does have a putt-putt and is pet friendly. There's a lake for fishing and some walking paths. Hey, loading up the large coolers and bags of stuff to take along is work enough for us at our age, haha!

Aw, I was looking forward to the stories you'd come back with...

I'm miss camping. I'd perform maintenance on our trailer and go, but I've got too many projects not completed at the moment and an overseas trip coming up.
Spot cleaned. Poolside but didn't relax; dragged 2 hampers out along with all the bedroom and other room trash receptacles and washed them. Cleared the outside furniture too and annoyed everyone. I was tempted to get the power washer out.
Mystery shopping in triple digits. Found out the best cat toy and nap spot is the household ladder.
There is nothing like right book at right time. The current read is everything I need it to be and then some. ! Trying to make it last until the end of the month...

Groceries, Rx pick-up. Now home avoiding high heat, humidity, pollen and poor air quality. Outlook for tomorrow is worse, so I will do some housework and personal care chores and maybe even get a nap.

Well @maverick1, we decided to go on a "practice" camping trip. It's what we used to do each spring, before a real camping trip.

The pump wasn't working, the stopper to where you fill the water was brittle and broke, and another cover was brittle and broke. Plus the door handle grinning smileyo

So, we took a bucket for flushing the toilet at night and on Sunday, traveled 75 km to a nice little campsite.

The stove and fridge worked and the furnace worked Monday morning -brrr.

I was looking forward to showing Hubby the hiking trails in the area and maybe a very short hike. But he didn't even want to unhook the trailer. So, we had our camping nachos, our fire, chatted to the camp managers, walked to the dam.

Went home right after breakfast. Stopped at RV place to get replacements for the covers.

Then Hubby worked at it some more. The pump does work and so does the Hot water heater. Now it's all scrubbed inside and out and ready to go. Nowhere¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's the camping story. As opposed to the rustic mountain location we were going to.

Bloody hot and humid here today with bad air quality and high pollen count. So, another day of lazy at-home chores, I an unsubscribing, one-by-one from every outfit that sends me requests for donations. During an election your, that is a TON of outfits.

Heat wave here. Everyday it's 96 or 98. Getting ready to go back to school next week. Me and my daughter both. She is starting JH (7th grade) in a new school. I'll be subbing everywhere of course. We got our kitchen backsplash done. Now time for tea.
Picked Chokecherries. Not sure what they would be called in the US. Hubby like to make wine, I like to make syrup. Pretty cool here and drizzly.
