What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday. There is a great store on the border of Illinois and Wisconsin called Addicted2Deals. It has all new, branded stuff from stores like Kohls, Walmart, Costco, Sam's, and Home Depot but at a nice discount. We got patio furniture from there. My daughter found a nice hat and scarf set for me for 8 bucks that normally is about 15 at Sam's. A month ago, we had bought hoses, sprinklers, and a Kohler faucet set for our bathroom all at a great price. It is like a big warehouse with tons of deals.

Today was subbing at my daughter's school and so is tomorrow. A week and a half and then school will be off. We are going to Cancun in July and Michigan in August.

As a DIY'er, Kohler is the only plumbing fixture brand I prefer to use. Keep the documentation and receipts. If you ever have a leak, they will ship out to you replacement parts including shipping at no cost. I've also toured their factory in WI.
Dealt with office politics, bad commute home. lation over seeing furry baby love after a long day. Kissed and hugged my family, cooked and caught up as much as I could with Jeopardy Masters. Called Mom up as she is helping me crochet an intricate sweater. I gave up and will wait for her this weekend., lol.
Two more days of school.. technically a day and a half since Thursday is half day. It is a long summer break this year because of the construction taking place in all district schools.
Pleased with more progress on the lengthy sort/redo closet project. Springtime is in perfection mode. Just 368 stars from now the Talbots can have their very own house on the game island. This will make me feel infinitely better... I was given the McManorhouse and feel we should already have employee housing, the school, and other basics...

It has been Bear Awareness Week. Does anyone else love and respect bears as much as I do?

To avoid inclement weather, we had our outdoor BBQ on Sunday instead of Monday. Remember those who gave all and give thanks. And remember it started as a day of decoration for all of those who served. It's not just a holiday to get out of work.
Tackling dandelions today. And other assorted yard tasks.
Made a litre of dandelion tea. Threw some blossoms to the sheep. Put a pile in the fire pit.
Hardly made a dent. =-D

I make kale as a dish on its own.

My neighbor gave me some basil seeds. Since, we moved in she has given me flowers and tomato plants for the backyard. She is very sweet. I got her a big platter of cookies for Memorial Day since she had her whole family coming over. Today's weather is alternating between rain and sunshine.
Laundry, vacuum car, and read oldie-but-goodie book.

Reading, laundry, vacuuming, making chocolate covered raspberry jellies.
The laundry might blow away!

In honor of Speak in Complete Sentences Day, I will post in complete sentences. Mind you, if everyone did this online today we could bust the bandwidth, or something. That would be bad.

Replaced the front brake pads on the truck. Inspected the rotor thickness with a calipers and determined there is plenty of life left. I'll keep my new rotors for the next pad replacement maintenance. While the wheel is off I greased all the grease fittings with hi-temp grease and inspect all bushings, CV joints, etc. 330K miles and still rolling fine...next up should be dropping the transmission oil pan, replacing the filter, refill with fluid.
More lessons for me (not you) in opportunities to create and maintain distance between humans and certain critters. This is expensive, necessary, and likely will bring substantial improvement but not 100 % success in all areas and situations. To me, it is worth all the time, effort, and money.
