What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

18 snow pants, 18 jackets, 18 hats, 18 pairs of mittens. And the boots. 18 pairs of boots. X4
Yup, subbed in kindergarten, on the first day of needing full gear.

The most important thing that I did today was to wait 48 minutes "on hold" to speak with a very helpful and efficient employee of the Social Security Admin. Back in early September I went online and changed the bank to which my monthly SS direct deposit goes. The October deposit was to be the first into the new bank. I did not close the former account, just in case it took longer. WELL, the October deposit did not show up at either bank . It was due last week.

SSA has been short-staffed due to budget cuts since the last administration, so I was full prepared to wait on line. The big surprise was the helpfulness, good cheer, and efficiency with which the responding employee handled my needs, found the problem (almost instantly) fixed the problem and never mentioned that it was clearly my error in entering the new account number that caused the problem.

Making two pot roasts. Hubby so liked the most recent one that he bought two roast kits yesterday. These are basically good. My plan was to sleep a little more and finish a few more house tasks. Hubby did not know that it is good to marinate the meat and veggies separately and for hours... And I refuse to use wine, which helps meat in the cooking process, because that is spendy and does not add more or better flavor than other ingredients. It really just saves time. So that is enough from the curmudgeonly and so not a foodie poster.

Starting to get my voice back but it's still hoarse and raspy. Yesterday, I slept through the whole day with a headache between bouts of throwing up. Finally, the nausea and headache went down with my nausea wrist bands and some pill my husband gave me. Don't even remember what was it except it was prescribed to me a couple of years ago and luckily wasn't expired.
Today is better and hopefully, tomorrow will be fine and I can go back to school.
@Shop-et-al your idea does sound creative. Maybe I'll do just that.

The last time I had to talk to the IRS I had the same lengthy hold time, and the same great customer service.

Today and tomorrow are going to be the last of the nice weather for the foreseeable future, so I cancelled my gym class today and instead drove across town with Hubby and walked in an older city neighborhood. Ended up at a coffee shop.

Back at home, I discovered we were out of baked tofu and muffins (two lunch staples). Took care of both of those, made a pot of bean soup for dinner, and a batch of pinto beans in the instant pot to replenish what I took out of the freezer.

A mountain of laundry and housework. I am scared of my kitchen.

Cancelled tiny road trip & decided to postpone spending any money until next week. Weather would have stopped us, anyway. Some sort of freezing fog, or something, between here and there.

Laundry is done and I can see my bedroom floor again. Next is the kitchen.

The cat is fired. I keep the balcony door cracked so she can come in and out. Today a bird came in, and she went out.

So the oddball topic on college football day involves team mascots. Air Force has real live Aurora the gryfalcon while Colorado State has real live CAM the ram. These teams play today in Colorado. It would be wild if CSU gave Air Force its first loss of the season. !

I received a text this morning telling me that I did not have to do my normal Monday night dinner for the priests. My bank account will be sad come paycheck time, but I am ready to enjoy a day with fewer commitments.

I turned down work today, so my pocket book is going to be sad also.
But I'm happy to have a day at home to try and get things in order.

I'm making a calendar for Hubby. Need time to enter all the stuff. And to get ready for a house guest.

Still hunkering indoors while remains of recent snowstorm clear. Expect to be safer outdoors on Tuesday or Wednesday, after more of the slick areas are cleared and need less of my new ice melt product. If not, there is always hubby with task list and designated grocery pick-up time. (The goal is always for me to walk the two thousand or so steps while getting the groceries.)

Subbed for SPED class. Trick or treating, weather permitting. We saw our first snow of the season and it was heavy.
Like my diy haircut. Basic bob with little bangs. Would be better with specific highlights. Remind me never to tell you the story of the time i ignored hairdresser and played with henna and expected brown hair. Bwahaha!

Wash the bedroom floor. How many days has this been on my list?
Taking the whole week off work. Hubby has Covid. He's not very sick though, luckily.
What I should have done twenty five years ago: delve into the 'shoes books' that were mentioned in the 1998's You've Got Mail. Finishing my own copy of Theater Shoes (not first edition but good and readable) and picking up a few more Noel Streatfeild titles that are on hold at the library. Apparently, Skating Shoes was reprinted some time after the 1998 movie.

I call today a little of everything day. Cooked a little, did some paperwork, decluttered and organized part of a closet, cleaned a little and relaxed a little.
Checking yesterday's football scores. My teams won, and Army beat Air Force. Now, will someone beat those Washington Huskies?!

I bought some organic produce from the farmers' market last week. I now have a fruit fly issue that I am trying to address.

There is a little strip shopping area about 1 mile from home that has a CVS, Aldi and a beer/wine store, plus a pizza place. I will order a pizza to pick up and hit the other 3 stores for needed items to replenish meds and my kitchen. Sliced pizza will be frozen for quick future meals.

*sigh* Back to the legal glossary, this time for courtroom stuff. The judge in the Trump case understandably presented consequences. (This Trump will present information as only he can. Live with it, already.) In that process, the judge might have showed willingness to consider premature conclusion, or predetermined outcome, or something that does not align with what I have understood to be the proper sequence of events. What I think is not important. What does the legal glossary say? This week I will find the answer to my question.

At least we have a good chance of figuring out what the judges said/meant. Not so much for the defendants.

Choosing between recipes and deciding when/whether to visit mil. Weather and time are the major factors in that. Took a short break from Streatfeild in order to read a little book that practically jumped off the shelf and demanded my attention.

On Sunday Hubby slid on a slick path and broke his ankle in multiple places. Yesterday he saw a doctor and surgery is in his future, but swelling needs to go down before that can happen. He has an appointment for next Monday for a re-eval.

For the foreseeable future I'll be doing all the cat duty, errand running, cooking, cleaning, etc. I've already realized how much Hubby had picked up since he retired.
