What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

My plans for the day got cancelled ten minutes before I was ready to walk out the door. I changed from dress casual into jeans. Drove with Hubby to drop off some spent vegetables in Youngest Son's compost pile, then walked around 'The Hill' (the area's Italian neighborhood). Picked up an illy coffee at a shop before heading home.

First thing I did was check my emails, and saw one for an urgent de-branding that I had passed twenty minutes earlier :-(

Pepper is very finicky about her food. I buy individual sizes of wet food. When I see that she likes a specific brand/flavor, I order a case from Chewy. She suddenly doesn't like the food.

Today, I boiled and shredded a chicken thigh and grated a carrot. I put some in a bowl with some beef stock. She was so happy, she got in her sleeper! She's still there.

Can you get mixed variety cases on Chewy? Maybe if Pepper doesn't eat the same flavor every day a particular brand would be more palatable.

grinning smiley Is that sweet little Pepper training you up in the way they think you should go? Pepper has you cooking custom meals, Chef HonnyBrown, for cryin' out loud.

OTOH, Sweet Pepper might be expressing some unique nutritional need. Perhaps the vet can provide insight into that.

Anyway, in my world the day is all about a more or less full day off for feet/legs. They can rest, do gentle exercises, and get ready for more project work tomorrow. It seems that they need their own schedule: one day on, one day off, for as long as it takes to finish the last few projects. Then, there will be only the typical work to do. They will give me a new schedule then. grinning smiley

Another beautiful weather day, so I walked to my post office shop-a distance of 1 1/2 miles. The box was less than three pounds, but on the bulky side. On the way home stopped in a grocery store to buy snacks for a weekend meeting.

I'm still figuring it out. Chewy only sells (online) single cases, not mixed. They aren't far from me, so I will go there this weekend.

While she had chicken and carrots, I had cereal! She doesn't like the food the vet gave her.

We have a very fussy cat too. He lost two pounds in the spring beforecwe figured out he wasn't eating!

Today was preK in am and grade 2 in pm again.
Yesterday was grade 4. They could have put me in pre K/ grade 2 yesterday, so students would have had same teacher all through. But.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We got our boosters and early voted. Accosted at the polls, but I pushed through the bull hockey. Then, a nice lunch.
Flying home on Monday. I will meet both my sisters. One lives an hour away from the airport and the other is flying in just to visit us. Then, a 3 hour drive to mom and dad's the next day.
Using up any leftover veggies and fruits. Had a $150 online focus group today which was actually about an interesting topic.
For the first time in months, I did not follow road reports and plan contingencies. I have no jobs that can be affected by weather and roads (and for which timing matters)! So I enjoyed my little work at home day, prayed for everyone who was at the mercy of weather, and am wondering if one of the lessons associated with this condition deals with contentment. I am happy at home and there is always something to be done here. I had let my work world avalanche and take over my at home happiness. Hmm.

Speaking of home: how great is it that Mum had a trip back home to see family there! smiling smiley

Weekend business meeting for an organization. Drove in early yesterday and enjoyed beautiful fall weather at a state park. Today started out nasty, and is supposed to be chilly all day.

I woke up at 430am. Watched some On Demand TV. Got out of bed to feed Pepper and boil her chicken. Cleaned the kitchen, did a work out with weights, did some work, and will do some shops later today. I wish I could be this productive during the week!

Yesterday, I stopped by Lidl. On the way out, I saw a fiddle head fig plant for $9. It will soon be mine!

Not so cold but wet here in Chicago. I am all packed up for Monday. Daughter will attend school on Monday since the flight is at 8:30 pm. I don't know if my mint plant will survive. It is getting colder anyways. In laws are in Boston enjoying their grand kids at my BIL's house. I am just happy with the fact that I don't have to divide my time between both sets of parents. My husband's parents and mine live like 15 minutes away from each other so no more packing and unpacking.
Nearly jumped out of my skin when, at the very end of a project, I found a beloved book that had been behind some unsorted things. Sorting is good. Completing the project is wonderful and satisfying. The beloved book is fantastic! !

Cautiously testing my new Cuisinart combo toaster over/air fryer. Made breakfast toast; now air frying chicken thighs. Also today; deep conditioning very dry hair; laundry; general kitchen clean-up; putting away the last of the summer clothing items and bringing out a lot of autumn-to-winter items.

I love finding stuff behind unsorted things!

I was organizing my pan cabinet and found some disposable roasters. I fill them with water and fertilizer to treat my plants. Unfortunately, the organizing stopped after that.

Quiet day indoors. "Work" consists of trying out my new hair styling tool. This is not a shop or an influencing effort. I like it. It is effective with the length of my hair. It works quickly and requires little storage space between uses. In brief: well worth the cost! grinning smiley

I picked up a Fiddle Leaf Fig plant from Lidl yesterday. Its new home is on my bedroom dresser. It's in a 3 or 4 inch planter, so it's small.

Making one soup and one stew. 99% of those go directly to freezer for future yumness.

Monthly money counting volunteer shift at church. In the afternoon I cut, baked, and pureed the Halloween pumpkin. The puree will drain overnight in the refrigerator then get portioned into Ziploc bags and frozen for later use.

Grade one. Tried to read my bookclub book before book club by zoom this evening. Partly read.
Roasting veggies for soup and on the couch!
Signed my phone onto the house Wifi, which solved the phone reception problem inside the house! There was no problem outdoors. Also, more laundry; some floor cleaning; prepping to get trash and recycling to the curb this afternoon. (New housemate handles getting all of those containers to and from the curb. Hurrah!) Will spend the evening monitoring vote counts in several key states.

I voted in the council chambers of a local city hall, which had stations set up at the raised dais where the council members would sit. I took one at the far end, but didn't realize how close I was to the end of the dais. I started to trip and put out my hand to brace myself. The heel of my hand hit the edge of the dais hard.

A couple of hours later the area is bruised and puffy, and it's painful to make a fist. I am icing it in between typing out reports, responding to emails, and hoping the issue goes away quickly.

Eager to view the lunar eclipse online in real time. NASA and other sites will show it. There will not be another total eclipse of the moon until 2025. Just in case this middle of the night event makes me sleepy tomorrow, I completely prepped tomorrow's projects today.

*oops* Real time was earlier this morning. Oh well. There are some great images online now.
