It is early. I already know what we are doing all day. We are returning some things to storage. The great plan was to bring them home, deal with them by this time or Halloween at the latest, never see them again, and have the winter to work on other projects at home. Then the feet/legs thing happened and it is still happening. So. We are returning those items to storage and making two rooms look and feel better. There is also the issue of egress. You remember. tptb want more than the local applicable law requires. Based solely on my unit, I need to send a polite e-mail with pics and suggested word change for their contracts/agreements. Based upon what I will show them, I will suggest a five word emendment: ".... whenever and/or wherever practicable....." For reasons pertaining to tenants and/or specific units, there might be other situations in which it is impractical or downright inadvisable to observe the excessive egress demands. As long as tenants are compliant with the local mandates, they are within the bounds of the law. I will end up with the required egress demands, if only by default. Feet/legs could not get to the project, and they will not have time to complete it before the next inspection. It's okay. I meant well. Feet/legs said in their inimitable way, "that is not how we get well". ! But they are getting better. This is a good thing! I happily anticipate seeing the two rooms without the extra stuff in them. smiling smiley

*eta* I sent the message. The contact form did not include an opportunity for pics. I am willing to provide those if requested to do so. I also suggested another wee modification in their approach to tenants and how we live. Amazingly, it hit the right tone. Go me. They may never change anything, but it was good to make the assertive request: neither too soft nor too harsh.

Kindergarten this afternoon. Clean the whole house this morning.??
But watching Midwich Cuckoos first
Hubby and I were strolling through Cannery Row in Monterey and stopped into a Ghirardelli store to get a hostess present. The associates were having an extended conversation about mystery shoppers (and which one of them had or had not been shopped).

I did a work out before work, a wine run at lunch and picked out shelter kittens I want to look at tomorrow.

Pooped after yesterday. We relocated lots (felt like tons, especially when some of it bumped into my legs) of heavy items. I finished my part of that huge project this morning, and hubby will do the last two things today or tomorrow. There are two bins for storage and nine ( or ten ?) boxes to break down and haul out of here. Phew. So today I am working in five-minute intervals on laundry, finishing the pantry stocking task (I ordered oodles of staples online and interrupted it to do the huge project), and apologizing to feet/legs. I gave myself 10 days for the next large project. I gently explained to feet/legs that I will be working slowly, carefully, ergonomically, and otherwise giving them the sweetest consideration. This seemed to mollify them. grinning smiley

Early again. Sp far, so good. Little naps are not the same as sleeping for hours, but they are helpful. Work a little, rest a little, sometimes nap a little-- and the long task list disappears. And feet/legs are happy. All is well.

Cooking, a little cleaning, and a lot of sorting/re-arranging. Looking forward to that sweet time, after all tasks are completed for the day, when I am on my treatment table (neither practitioner nor patient, just needed an at-home table like the ones used in chiropractic, massage. and PT offices). This is the best, if oddest, investment I have made in myself! smiling smiley

Slogging through a very detailed hotel shop report that is long due to weird stuff. Like: phone system problems made phone interactions crazy; entire system for posting charges to folio crashed early in the visit and never fully recovered; some interactions had to be tried more than once; ; several other things not anticipated by the guidelines or required scenarios. Ordinarily, this report would be a piece of cake. Sigh. At least the wine was excellent.

A ton of self care this weekend. I got my nails done today and fell completely in love with the technician. She was just that awesome! I did a 20 minute weight workout (full body) and a Pilates walk, also 20 minutes. That was first thing this morning.

I am brand new to hotel shops and am being asked about a travel stipend and my desired evaluator fee. How do I figure this out? Is there a going rate? TIA
For the first time in two weeks I was able to walk without a brace on my sprained ankle! It was only for about a half hour, but it’s a start.

I've been experimenting with artisan bread and very happy with the results. Last week was AP flour and yesterday was wheat flour. Turned out so well, I'll make it every week.
I have been experimenting with casseroles. After so many new-to-me recipes, I have decided what I do and do not like about the various recipes. In general, they are are as tasty and easy to prepare as the recipe providers promise. Specifically, they involve some combinations of ingredients that I feel could be changed for a better appearance, flavor, and/or nutrition profile. Today, I focused on aesthetics and attempted achieve ribbons of multiple compatible toppings instead of following recipe instructions to make and apply a veritable blanket of one topping. So, far, so good. It looked gorgeous when it went into the oven. The colors! Like looking at a painting-- makes the eye happy! Soon, we will find out how it looks after everything heats through. And then... then? We must taste it. I hope it's edible.*gulp*

Last week, my husband got loads of organic ginger for 2 bucks. There's only so much you can actually use so I made some ginger candy. It was a lot of work that I regretted later but then, it was done.
I buy ginger in bulk, slice it into coins with the food processor (without peeling it), freeze the pieces on a cookie sheet so they don’t stick together, then store them frozen in a ziplock bag. When I need some it’s easy to take out the right amount. It thaws quickly.

@KathyG..I will try that the next time. I am just scared of freezing anything. I am always thinking about food rotting in the freezer. My freezer contains only frozen vegetables and that is it.
So, if you freeze them on a sheet, you take them out and then put them in freezer bags..Right?
Appreciate information about ginger. Wonder about HoneyBrown and new kitty? Pleased about the easy, peasy day here:laundry, sorting, and shredding.

The sheep ate the beet tops and in the process pulled out the beets. So, I'm freezing beets today.
Yes. It's that easy.

Does DavePi only appear on Pi and Pie day? I mean, I made a new post all about him and his breakfast wine. Shouldn't that draw DavePi out of hiding?! grinning smiley

Anyway, the day is otherwise all about ranking our new fave recipes (onions & apples & my personally selected other ingredients is the clear winner-- as is, a side dish, and as the basis for future dishes) and ever more laundry. Quiet day. Suhweet!

Glorious hike with wonderful group. And weiner roast for the last day of trail maintenance. Some people only do maintenance not the regular hikes, so will see them in the spring!

Had to turn down two teachers this morning, but hey I'm semi retired.
Loved the recent quiet days and am ready for the next round of projects. So hubby will move assorted items from point A to point B, where i can more easily and comfortably work on them without hurting feet/legs. (Every little leg bash causes a setback.)

Early morning scheduled phone call, then swapped out summer for winter in my closet. Made a couple of stops out of the house-Hubby errand/post office shop for me. Now I'm waiting on a MAO Five Guys shops to figure out if I have to cook dinner tonight :-)
