What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Slogging away, getting through tasks and waiting for Tuesday. Tuesday is the big move--furniture in/out and transfer storage units. Remember the wonderful night of sleep? That has not repeated. But I am ever hopeful that there will be another one soon...

Cleaned house, which is my usual Saturday routine. Then I tried a new cookie recipe, and it is DELICIOUS!! It's called Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies, and boy are they good! Nice cookie for the Fall season.
Earlier in the week I discovered that the dishwasher had mold. Today I researched remedies, and am completing a multi-step process which involves soapy water, vinegar, baking soda, and finally a purchased cleaner.

Other than that I'm baking off some tofu and making muffins for lunchboxes. Will attend a community orchestra concert tonight if the continual drizzle stops in time.

Steam-cleaned the microwave by boiling a bowl of vinegar water in it, letting that sit for 15 minutes and then wiping out the accumulated gunk with paper towels. All fresh and clean! Made me wonder why I had avoided that task for so long!

I went to brunch and came home with a cat! I named him Scrapple.

One of the ladies was telling us about a kitty she took out of an abusive home. She's watching him, but with 3 dogs, she was looking for a home. She found it!

He's getting used to his surroundings now.

Catching up with KP; poaching some chicken thighs to chill for future supper use; playing hidden object computer games; later, laundry and a nap.

Went to a Greek festival across town. The plan was to get some baklava and listen to the music. They were sold out of baklava except in the mixed pastry boxes and the music hadn't started yet. But we had a good time eating cookies, drinking the coffee we had bought from a roaster several blocks away, and listening to the canned music.

Tonight we will have baklava with our leftovers.

The good news of the day? I have shed eleven more pounds. I will never miss them. The good news of tomorrow? We swap out furniture, transfer storage units, and can leave that space for awhile and focus on home. While waiting (yet again) for the elusive sleep, I have Chopin Romances and time to read whatever I want. When I was sorting, I found my oldie but goodie encouragements. These poems and brief articles are so helpful!

*eta* not feeling well and will re-schedule. but we are still thisclose to finishing thegiven tasks.

Making dill pickles for the first time in a long, long time. Some one gave me way more cucumbers than I want. Hopefully neighbour will take some.
Hubby might want to marry you, prince. He really misses his grandmother's pickles and would probably get protruding cartoon eyes at the idea of someone making homemade pickles in this century.

Seriously. Good morning! Obviously, I am awake instead of in dream land. I would rather be sleeping and having fun, vivid dreams about fun things to do or interesting places to go. I expect nothing more than basic tasks from myself for the rest of the day-- interspersed with foot/leg care. It will have to be enough because they are still demanding some love, and I need time to figure out exactly what that means to them. Among other things, it will mean the end of this unprintable situation and better ideas for avoiding any recurrence in future. First up? Pray that someone strong and willing to work for cheap or just kind and willing to do a good deed will be able to help hubby move & transfer our designated stuff. I will not be doing more of that for some time. Second on the list? Grow a pair and inaugurate my official hair cutting scissors. This is not related to feet/legs. I just need a substantial trim... grinning smiley

The pickles still aren't made. Probably was the last century when I made them and I just an not motivated to do it. LOL
*in hushed tones, lest i interrupt the start of something beautiful here* I slept. During typical and helpful yours and I even pinpointed seemingly unrelated factors in my experience of this oddball condition. Will need to correct them as time and money permit. Move ovah', typical treatment modalities. I am aiming at root causes that are specific to me and applying principles of correction and prevention. Ha. ! !!!!! For giggles, I might even delve into my canning/preserving/whatever-ing books that reappeared during sorting and try my hand at homemade dill pickles. If you promise never to tell hubby, my grandmother also made excellent homemade pickles. I might even produce something decent. You never know... grinning smiley

Furnace repair tech came as scheduled at 7 am. Hubby took care of it while I called and chatted with a friend while she was on her way to work. Long walk which ended up with coffee. Now it's not even 11 am and I will shower and then figure out the rest of the day.

Well, I finally made 6 litres of pickles. Hopefully edible. Neighbour came and took a few cukes. Not as many as I hoped. Will see if some can go to our local garden produce "food bank".

The rest will go to neighbour's animals. She didn't want to take them if we could find humans to use them. The next time I'm offered produce, I'll be sure to specify one or two!
He is so precious! He's a kitten but out of that crazy stage. Well, almost.

He pulled my curtains off the rod and knocked over a few plants. Not too bad, considering!

@Honny, that's so awesome that you've opened your heart and home to a new fur-baby!!

What'll really grab at your heart strings is when he crawls up on you while you're resting on your couch or bed and starts purring loud purrs of contentment!
The kitty stories bring back fond memories of family pets! Sweetness... smiling smiley

I could not wait until tomorrow to post an update. I lost five more pounds, purchased items that actually are supportive of me, and added wee, inexpensive on-hand supportive measure to the daily routine. Even though hubby seems overwhelmed, we are figuring out how he can help without losing all his personal time and energy. Best? My skin, which experienced recent trauma, spontaneously chose this awesome, fearsome, and utterly painful healing today. It made progress! Permanent progress toward the finish line! And, I have drawn the line between what my tired ol' body will and will not do for the next little while. This is massive improvement for one day and despite all the shrieking, howling, and tears, I will not trade this for anything. Take that, oddball condition. You are through here and must depart forever. Yah!!!!!!

Now I am ready for more cute pickle and kitty stories, please. smiling smiley

On Wednesday the 20-year old cat couldn't support himself on his right leg, so we took him to the vet. Not sure if it was survival instinct kicking in, but in the examination room his walking was much better :-) After an examination and x-rays to rule out tumors or blood clots the vet diagnosed him with arthritis.

The solution is a tiny bit of pain reliever twice a day sprinkled on his food and an injectable that will lubricate his joints. Yesterday he seemed to be walking much better.

Making chicken, salsa and black bean soup; welcoming a friend who will visit for a week and help me "cut the cable," and move to streaming Utube and Roku channels to all household TVs. Quick trip to pick up a few items that my local Aldi does not stock.

@KathG: I am not twenty years old anymore, furry, or purry. I have just been overburdened for months and months and months. I think I have acquired an overuse injury that is speaking loudly to me. In just minutes, hubby will return with a fresh pair of crutches which will keep me moving safely on just the left foot. If, and only if, this does not help things, I will seek a more official opinion. Please with me luck as I wish good luck to your beloved kitty. smiling smiley

Tonight's Five Guys dinner shop is at the location less than a mile from home. Hubby and I will leave early and get our steps in by walking to the mall across the street, around the mall, over to Five Guys, and then back home.

I think there's an issue with the heating element, which means the water doesn't get as hot as it should, and the interior doesn't dry out. I opened the door to put some dirty dishes in and saw black spots on the inside, then started looking and saw more black spots on the walls and top.

Worked, did laundry, made pasta, etc. The last outdoor concert was today and the band is our absolute favorite. DDs and I danced the night away. Mom and Dud DH stayed home with furry baby love.
Disconnecting cable boxes from 3 TVs; setting up access to Utube TV on same; setting up Roku on one housemate's TV. Testing, testing, testing.

I hear this in Aretha's voice and make many apologies..... Freedom! Freedom! and am elated because my crutches, after just a few hours of use, alleviated much of the discomfort in my right leg. This is perfection. Then, we came up against me..... I was able to complete numerous tasks on a current list, in which one thing leads to another until at last we are ready for hubby's new job, my new furniture, and our furniture that is coming from storage. Well, alrighty then. You knew about the zillion or so things that piled up and pretty much knocked me over after a few months of that external pressure. Now we are realizing that I am equally capable of overdoing and exhausting myself. Whew. I was so happy and finding a few new tricks for crutches that were not in the training videos. So I kept going, and going, and going, and going, like the Energizer Bunny. Not being pink, a battery, or a memorable advertising schtick, I just overdid it. But I did it! But it was way too much of a good thing... and is a major factor in the overuse injury. So there it is. Today, I guide hubby through a few tasks and thank him profusely. He is not thrilled that my task list seems smaller in comparison-- but I will not point out that I completely overdid while he was sleeping soundly and becoming fortified for his fifteen or twenty minutes of vital and powerful work.
