What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I have a very nice Yeti tumbler that I use for my tea. I saw a similar one at Aldi and bought it. The lid was broken. I found similar ones at Target and bought three!

Going on vacation to Wisconsin Dells next week. Has been almost two and a half years since we took one. Last two days of school!
Building another gig day that will replace another week of talking head job. In a perfect world, I will be able to get through the short talking head shifts and need to find only fifty four more gig dollars in order to keep pace with typical earnings. I have my eye on shops that might become bonused. OTOH, considering the price of fuel, I probably save that much by not driving those few extra days to work. Win win. What a weird world we live in. !

Talked to mum in the morning. She was practically begging me to come home for some time. My older sis is visiting her and the younger one will soon, too. She keeps asking me why I haven't visited in 6 years. And I don't know what to tell her. Been on a flight every year since I came to the US but I stopped after 2016. I am just terrified for no reason at all. Also, I've become too lazy to travel. Flights, foods on the flight, the jet lag, the migraines just doesn't agree with me. But, I promised her I will be home for Christmas this year. I will just have to be brave.
Assigned myself two USPS shops that were road trip distance away (round trip of a little over 80 miles). Asked Hubby if he wanted to come with me, and he did. Took the direct route to both post offices, but on the way home went on a Route 66 byway that paralleled the Interstate. Stopped at a great coffee shop, hit a grocery store for the produce we needed, and walked on part of a trail in a state park before finally pulling into the garage. Total mileage was less than 10 miles over what the Interstate would have been but SO MUCH more fun!

I had a very interesting day. It started earlier this week when my house was not cooling. The temperature topped the 80s and I wfh. I had a conversation with the local utility to find out how to get my HVAC unit replaced for free. I found out I have a $700 credit on my bill, which I have not paid since December!

Yes, Yes, Yes!! About 3 years ago, hubby & I traveled through Virginia on Highwy 1. It was GREAT! We saw such beautiful countryside that we would never had seen had we driven on Interstate 81. Definitely worth the extra time to see this beautiful countryside! We met some of the nicest folks, too!!
Worked, more dang laundry, Costco run. Cost me $48 for no gas. Bought a bag of the chocolate frozen strawberries. Soooo delicious.
Tomorrow is Black Bear Day. Please do not feed the bears (and the other wild critters). Just love them and 4COL stay away from them. Especially, note well where the little ones are because a Mama bear will be lurking... and waiting to get you.

Drop off at USPS (not a shop); pick-up Rxs; stop for frozen yogurt and fruit for lunch; work on prepping front master bedroom suite for rental ad; plant flowers in pots on deck visible from living room; prep for hotel shop tomorrow; 2 loads of laundry.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Dropping off our DirecTV boxes at UPS later today. We dropped DTV a few weeks ago...prices keep going up, up, up! We use the many free Roku apps, along with the Roku streaming app VIDGO for my husbands sports, news and westerns hankerings. It's a niche streaming app and fits our household's needs just perfectly. And at $60/month, it fits our budget, too!!
Subbed at a Hutterite Colony today. Once again, holding up the couch tonight

Great day today. Worked stress free. Roomba'd, deep cleaned my bathroom that is now my offspring's bathroom as well. I know why they love it. Spin scrubbed my kitchen floor. Went out to dinner with all offspring. DH stayed home to watch an important sports game, lmao. All offspring off to my niece's Bachelorette party tomorrow and returning Sunday late afternoon. I wish everyone a spectacular weekend!

Have fun with the hotel shop! That sounds exciting!
Happy Do-Day Day, or salute to silliness! I am not sufficiently awake to figure out how to celebrate this one or do something spontaneous, but maybe i am just awake enough to contemplate International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.

It's also National Hug Your Cat Day. Ours was none too pleased when I did.

Errands, errands, errands and laundry. I went to the post office, gassed up my car, finished a Look, made a return at Home Depot, went to UPS for an Amazon return, and Verizon for a modem return.

I lazed around until 11AM. Empty nest syndrome this weekend and I miss them so. Fur baby is sad and missing his ladies as well. DH and I spent some more time landscaping, re-planting and weeding. Then he did some chemical things for the pool. I grilled delicious skirt steaks. Salad, bread, pressure cooked baked potatoes, RED WINE. Later, strawberries and grapes.
If I could translate my usual long posts into energy, I could fuel hot air balloon day with my words one balloon at a time. Happy Hot Air Balloon Day!

I'm giving a presentation with another person at an event next Saturday. We got together this afternoon to go over the big picture. Now it's up to me to write the script for my half. I'm having trouble motivating myself.

Staying up because this is more comfortable than anything else. But it is not so bad. I was reading the forum and found a wonderful thread about shopping with children and an insightful response regarding grandparent scenarios at childcare centers. I had to think about this for awhile because I know some people who have raised, or participated extensively in, the raising of their own grandchildren. In a perfect world, parents would always be able to raise their own children. In our weird world, grandparents all around the world are raising their grandchildren. They should be welcome and eligible to participate in assignments regarding every kind of shopped situation that they experience in this role. Mind you, if they run out of real grandparents, I am old enough to pretend to be one.

Finishing a hotel report. Then, a Task Rabbit will be here most of the afternoon. He will do things like assemble a kitchen kart, remove and replace the kitchen light fixture; hang a curtain and rod; rinse out the rain barrel that is on the deck and fill it so that I do not have to haul water to service all of the potted plants on the deck "garden."

Monthly volunteer money counting shift at church in the morning. A Sam's run on the way home. Later in the afternoon a walk to nearest grocery store for two ingredients for tonight's dinner.

We were supposed to visit my father and his wife, but that was rescheduled so DD and I, gave both dogs a bath! DD loves playing in the water. Today is a fasting day so I'm really hungry but hanging in there.
Small tasks, increase walking by two minutes, and generally deal with the odd foot/leg thing. I went to the doc and found out that It has a name, requires meds, and demands diligence. Bleh. But it will clear up soon.Until then, I get to work with some materials that I just happened to find at a library book sale when I was there picking up books. Can you say, serendipity? smiling smiley
