What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Planning to get a kitten. I need to go to a petstore and first learn about cats. Both my daughter and husband think that a cat would be a great addition to our family. Well, we'll see.

Packing and final planning for tomorrow's flight to Salt Lake City (for a couple of days before we head to California to see children/grandchildren).

wales, checking up on you. How are you feeling?

Feeling blah, sleeping and coughing a lot. Am now told that this could run 14 days. Hoping to test negative sometime next week.

Hydrate and rest. Do you need anything?

Honny,
Thank you. We have been getting groceries delivered so nothing else really necessary.

This morning, I went into the kitchen to make breakfast. Oatmeal and blueberries turned into pasta alfredo. I knew better. My stomach still hurts!

Checked out a few factoids for a potential additional job. Feeties and everything else are somewhat better. If this trend continues, I will fit into my ortho-based shoes again soon. This is a good thing.

There was a short power outage today. It affected one of the town's traffic lights. Not pretty! I am enjoying lemon green tea mixed with pomegranate green tea.

My daughter has Influenza A. She was running a fever of 100 to 101. Morning Tylenol didn't work and the fever shot up to 104. Panic stricken, we went to the doctor and thankfully, it was not COVID. Flu type A was detected via nasal swab and they prescribed anti virals. Thankfully, this week school goes on till Wednesday due to Teacher Appreciation Week. Poor girl had collected all the treats on her teachers' wishlist. Maybe we'll drop them on Wednesday when we go to pick up her homework for the missed days. Her teacher was kind enough to prepare a packet for her. Teachers are the best, can't pay them enough for the work they do.
For good news, my worksheets are selling on the teacher's website! I never expected to sell any but I am up to 10 now!!

I'm binge watching Downton Abby before it leaves Netflix.

Had a few fun moments this week: watched and re-watched Revenge of the Nerds. So satisfying. Tried on next size smaller pants and most of me fit in them. Soon. Soon! Saw a beautiful change in town. One location moved its free electronic scooters off the sidewalk slightly; a few feet away, a person in a wheelchair had enough space to maneuver on that sidewalk. It's a good thing. smiling smiley

Finally released from Covid quarantine! Grocery store, wine shop, bank. I am still quick to tire, so there will be a nap later.

@Mum: The incredible shrinking woman? (Lily Tomlin should never know of this pun.) Anyway, today is all about a new schedule. Neither hubby nor I can be at talking head job for awhile. He coughs and needs to be elsewhere until he gets that out of his system. I need to re-position myself instead of being practically locked into one chair for hours at a time. I hope that I do not have to leave the job altogether, but it is not good when being there hurts so much. I also want to look into an aspect of our performance reviews. On a few occasions when I might have been listened to/monitored but not graded, there were issues with answers already marked on my screen before I obtained or entered a respondent reply. Sometimes, an answer inexplicably appeared while I was asking a question. I know how to move quickly between screens and can fix those oddities before closing/entering a survey. But it seems weird to me, and I wonder if it is similar to some things that might happen to our surveys in this industry. Multiple people have stated in this forum that it seems like information they provided was omitted or changed, or information they never provided was added. We work with software. Our editors work with software. Is there some glitch-y thing in common with these programs? Inquiring minds want to know, but not so badly that I will bother about that now. I merely want to inquire about it at some point because something like this just popped up as a negative in hubby's performance review. This should not happen to anyone in any industry. Perhaps some clever soul can figure out how to make the reporting processes more accurate for everyone.

New day, new stuff. I am listening to the Tchaikosvsky Pathétique and, I swear, am implying nothing political or otherwise. It is wonderful music. Tried to do a workout to this music but that did not work out (haha). Later, I can put on workout music and get that job done.

I spent most of the day in Urgent Care dealing with an infected eyelid. My pain level was a 3 when I went in, due to the swelling. When I left if was a 5. Thirty minutes of an antibiotic took the pain away completely due to a reduction in swelling.

@Honny, hope the eye clears up and heals totally without any issues! We need our eyes!
Thank you. This is something I deal with frequently due to allergies.

She mentioned in another post she had gastric bypass.

That was not me. The Incredible Shrinking Woman is the title of a movie Lily Tomlin movie. Elsewhere, Lily Tomlin had discussed her struggles with weight. The pun was... well... really, really bad. Meanwhile, my weight loss sometimes soars, often stalls, and occasionally/without notice (due to the odd thyroid thing) balloons back practically overnight. The good news is that I recently found additional information regarding thyroid nutrition. I am looking for study data. Who was studied, and do they match me?

Just for today, it is Cinco de Mayo and National Day of Prayer 2022 in the US. There are so many concerns in this country and around the world! We have become so enmeshed with other countries that I find it difficult to separate some of the issues into US-only and the principles that are universal and global now.

I finally got diagnosed for the pain on my right side, starting the day after surgery. It took 7 months for docs to listen to me. It is either my back side joint or my hip. I am going to a new dr to check out the hip to rule it out or see what's wrong.. My neurosurgeon is treating my back side joint. The joint is connected to the tail bone and pelvic bone. It can also can have arthritis. First I am going to get an theraputic injection. If that does not work we will try killing the nerves in that area. I am only working 4 to 6 hours a day, and doing very little shops. When I go to work in the morning my pain level is a 4, when I leave it is an 8. I am praying this plan of action will get me to a better place. There are so many things I miss doing, including shops. Wales - Very happy you are better. Take care everybody.
@Shop-et-al, I was diagnosed with thyroid issues in 2008 and since then have been on daily medication. After being diagnosed, I had ballooned up too but with diet (more like mindful eating and avoiding certain foods) and exercise, I lost 38 pounds the following year. In 2010, when I was back in shape, I resolved to only eating good, organic, and homemade food just like what I was raised on back home. We used to eat out once a week and I stopped that too. Now, eating out is on a very rare occasion.
Processed food, sugary drinks, too much caffeine, starch, and yes, overeating raw salads all slow down metabolism. Green smoothies, juices, fresh fruits, organic veggies, small portions, all keep me in shape and prevent those wild fluctuations. I always keep a full refrigerator and pantry and plan my meals for the whole week. Mum's recipes plus whatever I have learned from Youtube and websites, all have been very helpful.

My best technique is simply to eat only when hungry. This does not jibe with rigid schedules and many mystery shops, but it makes my system happy. Talking of happy, it will soon be Mother's Day. I saw the needed blurb of encouragement for people who do not find the upcoming Sunday to be a joyous occasion. Will think of them along with moms who celebrate. .

Grade one today. Getting snow tires off the car, even though we're going skiing once more.
@Shop-et-al..same with me. I keep getting calls for Five Guys and when I refuse, they keep asking why. I asked them to put a note for me that I wasn't interested but apparently, there is none in place.
Meanwhile, we are all down with the flu. As soon as my daughter got better, we both caught it too. Tamiflu is helping. No fever but my daughter's cough becomes unbearable in the morning. Nana's salty tea concoction is helping but it tastes awful. Chicago saw a little bit sun on Wednesday after straight 43 days! And, we are back to being rainy and cloudy again.
Still sounding like a foghorn, but dressed. Yesterday, I had spent the day in my jammies. Somehow, jammies are a healing agent (to some extent). This is not covid, thank G. It is just annoying, loud, messy, and bad for my budget. II can't work at talking head, and I can't even make up for it by completing phone call shops from home! Oh, well. Everything happens for a reason. Mind you, no one ever said there was a rational reason for everything. grinning smiley
