What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

In honor of the day, I also updated my signature. I laughed at myself because, when typing of cheese, I realized that I am old enough to remember about chalk and cheese and other oldies but goodies. Moving on now.....

You are young. I quit skiing 10 years ago or so? Not quite a diamond skier although the longer trips we took, I would venture on an easy one as the days went on. I loved it as well as ice skating and roller skating. Now, I'm afraid I'll break something. It's walking, swimming and easy bike rides for me.

Oh dear @KathyG, I don't feel very young.

This is my one day to do everything before going on a ski vacation Friday.

I suppose getting out of bed is a requirement. Lol
My day depends on if I can reschedule yesterday's targeted apartment shop associate ghosting. The urban location does not have a parking lot, so if I can make an appointment I know a location that doesn't have parking meters and I can get steps in walking back and forth. And make a nice chunk of change. On the other hand, there's plenty I can do around the house.

My day is practically engraved in stone. We are "supposed" to have an apartment inspection today. The only thing left to do in order to "prepare" for this is clean as many baseboards and doors/doorways as possible. I refuse to perfect anything, on general principles. We are slightly miffed because we made all the demanded changes and were ready for a promised inspection several weeks ago. We were prepared to discuss and pose questions during that promised inspection. That never happened. A follow-up phone message never was returned. Now, when we need to pull things out again and make a bit of another mess in order to sort more items, we are thwarted by unreliable tptb. They "promised" another inspection today. did they remember that they have promised these re-inspections and opportunities to show, tell, and ask about this unit? Will they show up, or will we sit here while eom money is floating around out there and we lose time for more of our projects? But enough of that. The birds are saying, "Good morning, silly human. It is already a great day!"

Got a call at 5:30 this morning from the rehab center where my dad is. There's never a good call of any kind at 5:30 a.m. My ringer was off (and usually is); and I called back when I woke up at 6:30. My dad spilled a cup of coffee all over himself and they were concerned that he burned himself. Thankfully, it was just red and not blistered -- thankfully they are connected to a hospital in the event he needed care. I called my mom and she was upset. Then later today, he fell trying to get up. He won't let himself be helped unless they force him. He didn't seriously hurt himself, he's just sore, but they put him in the center area in a recliner (e.g. the adult time-out area) so he wouldn't move without help.

This has been a week. He doesn't seem to be getting significantly stronger. There's a care conference next week which is at the same time as an event a coach I know is offering and signed up for in January. Ugh.

At work we had corporate visiting. Of course at the time that I ran to get a late lunch (3:30 PM) they did their walkthrough. Walked past my GM giving me the death glare. Ducked my meal in my desk until the coast was clear. No idea what the result of it will be.

Tonight, I was going to go to the 50th anniversary of the On Any Sunday movie at a theater 10 minutes from my house. But I got home and I've got soooooooooo much to do, and I'm not really feeling like hanging out with people, so I am just staying home. And hanging here instead of doing what I need to do.

Ok, time to get back to work. Gotta do my homework for my 9:00 re-employment seminar tomorrow and the outline for my personal development program that was due 3 weeks ago before my head hits the pillow.

And although I know this space is not about shopping, I'm beyond furious at Bestmark. My check from Secret Shopper got misdelivered in the mail. And Sinclair hasn't cut my February check although by now they usually have. I've got more month than money and secret shopping isn't doing enough to fill the hole. Not sure if I go back to doing grocery delivery or what.

All of this together is eating me up and I'm useless as a result. Wish I had more to say than venting.... just putting one step in front of the other.

@gsfreeman2, take care! A lot to do with.

@Shop-et-al I hope the inspection went smoothly.

Kindergarten today, then a quick walk with friend, then all the things I didn’t do to get ready for going on vacation.
Washed living room floor at 4:30. Waiting for Hubby to get up so I can wash sheets.
@prince: We passed the inspection. The official, annual inspection will take place in April. In the meanwhile, or eventually, the unit will receive assorted amenities and repairs. We just need to continue what we do, having incorporated all the plushies. I must say this: I did not relish finding the wad of fertilizer in the window frame; it got there when wind and/or lawnmower blew it up off the ground and into a hole in the window frame. I think that was the last of the big chunks... But this is today, and it is free for now. When we find out more about hubby situation, we will plan an actual day around that. Until then, I will continue my workout and watch a movie. Happy vacation to you! smiling smiley

Another rainy day, but for variety temperatures will also dip down to late-winter levels. UGH!

I have a job at a big box hardware store. Invited Hubby to come with me. After the shop portion is done, we will get steps in the store. (BTW Did you know that hardware stores are a great place to walk? We rarely get bothered by the associates.)

@ gsfreeman2, that's an awful lot on your plate. Sincerely hope things smooth out for you in the next week or so!!

I've got a dentist appt later this afternoon. A pre-molar needs a small filling, and a large molar in the back is going to get some sort of protective coating around the bottom to protect it from any gunk getting in and under the gum line. This is to protect it for several months, till December. See, I have Aetna Medicare Advantage Plan, and they allow $1000.00/yr for ANY dental work. So, I had my first cleaning & xrays a few weeks ago. We've been talking about this back molar needing a crown for a couple of years, but I could never afford it. But now that I have $1000.00/yr in dental benefits, I can do it over two years....the end of December 2022 & January 2023. Hence, the protective coating to keep things sealed for 8 more months. My dentist is just wonderful!!!
I'm on my 4th cup of tea. Actually, it's a 20 ounce Yeti. I love this stuff.

So everything went well at my dentist appointment.

A few weeks ago, I dropped our landline, and got the number transferred over to a cell line, and bought a VTech connect to cell 2 units, which paired via bluetooth with the cell phone using the SIM card that I had used to have our landline number transferred over to. However, my hubby is somewhat technologically challenged, so to make things even easier for him, I purchased a Jethro SC490 phone, and it arrived today. It's a cell phone but in the shape of a "bar"'; it sorta reminds me of the shape of the old PDAs, but a tad smaller. Anyhow, it's really easy to use, and I got it all set up for him tonight by simply taking the SIM card out of the older cell I had originally set it up with, and inserting it into the Jethro phone. Everything went smooth as silk!
Hah. I was punny and won at Jumble and lucky and won at Outspelll (similar to Scrabble). Now, I need to do the usual: laundry, workout, nap, try on pants, and go to work. Let's hope that I can stay awake in my cubicle today. I finished the pants project (huzzah!) and have enough pairs for now and the next four smaller sizes. This is the in-closet record of my weird weight for the past few years. Way up, way down, and now, on the way outta' here. I can only explain a range of a size. The rest is inexplicable and not the stuff of a lucrative movie deal, so let's move along quickly to the next person's post.

Scheduled meeting in the morning. Walked aerobically up to an Ace Hardware and used a coupon to get buy-one-get-one keys. They were having an anniversary sale and actually had popcorn available!

Attempted to schedule appointment for the same apartment shop I've been working on for a week. I told agent to name her time today and she said the only opening was her lunch. Each day I'm less likely to believe her story, but whatever. Passed info on to msc.

Tonight I will be working at parish fish fry doing drive through sales.

Long but productive day. I no longer have the temporary "manager" that will pop up on my laptop with the message "How are you doing?" a zillion times a day. Good riddance and happy day. So relieved to leave that client for a much better and organized one. I met a friend for dinner tonight. So nice to catch up and eat delicious food. I had a mixed greens salad, Chilean Sea Bass, creamed spinach and we split a hot brownie with ice cream. Wine was great too.

Not much here. After workout there are just a few house tasks, a little time at the talking head job, and (if still awake) an episode or two of Pie in the Sky.

March is certainly going out like a lion! It was brisk and windy when I left to run some errands, and at one stop if I hadn't had a good grip on my car door it would have blown right into the vehicle next to me,

The late morning/early afternoon is dedicated to household and cooking stuff. Later Hubby and I will make an adventure out of going to church and dinner.

Hey @KathyG! Yes, it's quite windy and brisk here too, in NW SC!! March came in mild, but I reckon it's trying to go out with a bang here!

Anyhow, today was my usual Saturday cleaning, and then I did some baking for the week. First, I made an oatmeal "pudding" (on the consistency of bread pudding, but with oatmeal) that has apples, chopped nuts, craisins and blueberries in it! Great warmed up for breakfast! Yum Yum! Then I made a "vegan" (yes!) pumpkin pie that is absolutely delicious!! NO EGGS! In addition to the canned pumpkin, it uses a can of coconut milk and is thickened with CORN STARCH! It's my hubby's favorite pumpkin pie recipe now (mine too!) HOWEVER, the crust ISN'T vegan. It's just a regular old graham cracker crust. And finally, I made some homemade oatmeal raisin cookies that uses APPLESAUCE! So, I'm good for the week!!

Your pudding sounds great! I have some type of oatmeal most mornings.

I went to Mom's to pick her up with #1. Of course she had food for us. I cleaned her kitchen; cabinets, stove, refrigerator and Swiffer wet jetted the floor. #1 vacuumed her hardwood floors. Then we picked up a chocolate and vanilla mousse birthday cake from the best bakery ever. Party of 9 at the Capital Grille birthday celebration. So yummy and the service was most gracious. They plated and served the cake gratis. Best thing? My girls have their grand mama for week.
I went to the international market this morning. I bought mango green tea bags. I didn't realize it had an artificial sweetener. I put it on Freecycle after the first sip.

I found a frozen country fried steak dinner.

Yesterday I ended up walking 5.5 miles over the course of the day. Today after getting all my home chores done I will be sitting down for some good quiet time.

Seems pretty common. My Delta Dental MN also only pays our 1k/year. With the cost of the premium it's almost just pre-paid dental services.
Pilates first thing this morning!

On Saturday, I had a convenience store shop and opted to try Earl Grey tea for my ride home. I liked it and was happy to see that Bigelow makes a green tea version.
