What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. We are all Irish on this day. I bought Bailey's Irish Cream at Costco. That's about the extent of our celebration. Worked my butt off and will continue to do so until about 6 PM. Then we must go to a wake for our dear, dear friend's Mom who passed away. The mass is the next morning where I will attend solo. Celebration and sadness at the same time. I still speak/talk about my Dad as he is still living. He passed away 18 years ago. Hope you all are having a wonderful day.

I was browsing Reddit and this dude in CA posted a text from a potential landlord asking for 6 months rent up front" $12,000! That's a downpayment for a house! The landlord said it was an after effect of the moratorium being lifted.

@Madetoshop sorry for your dear friend's loss. May her memory be for a blessing. Went into work this morning and it was a ZOO. Left at 2:00 for a meeting. Talked to my mom 3 times today about my dad. She's going to go down to the nursing home where he's in rehab today and talk to the head nurse and the administrator if she has to - -at the hospital they had my dad on a Velcro alarm where if he tried to unfasten it and get up himself (because, you can't teach an old dog new tricks) an alarm would go off. No such thing at the nursing home. So he comes and goes as he pleases and my mom is scared he's going to fall again. Ugh. My partner is making a corned beef and all the trimmings tonight. Might have been cheaper to go out LOL. Taking tomorrow off of work to go hang out with my dad when my mom has her day to go to the beauty shop and get her manicure etc. et al
Thank you, all. Even his sister is trying to help. He blocks her efforts, too. But at least people are trying, and now more of us who knew him before are finding out what this is like and how he has changed. Perhaps that will matter someday. For now, I need to focus on one day's task list at a time. Today, I need to finish my workouts and put away dry laundry. If I feel especially ambitious, I will deal with all the pants in my closet that include the five or so sizes I have been in the past few years. More likely, I will put together a few oddball ingredients and hope the concoction tastes well. Even a basically edible casserole would be good enough. Isn't necessity the mother of invention? If so, my need to use up odds and ends of food demands this! Mmm? Hmm? grinning smiley

There is equipment at hospitals where if the patient steps on the floor an alarm will ring loudly? My elderly neighbor relayed that to me when her husband was in the hospital (had Alzheimer's too). They have passed but I so remember the convo as she was so distraught and tired.

Thank you for your kind words. Our friend and her family are wracked with grief.

Not even considering the green, lucky, Irish, etc. of Saint Patrick's Day, I picked up a cute, green, comfy cotton sweater yesterday. I love how it fits over as many layers as needed during what passes for Spring here. As it turns out, we are not eternally banished from mil and we are making a quick trip there next week. Actually, I was not banned. Only hubby was banished. I left because I would have been stranded there had I stayed. But enough of that. The rest of this week is for work and sleep (and workouts). Sorting and cleaning are optional. Next week, there will be time for everything.

At the hospital they did -- at the nursing home they don't,. So they have him on a recliner in the nursing station area where they can watch him. My mom's disappointed. I'm headed out there after this online career fair which was supposed to have 40 employers with 400 jobs but so far there's two employers with three jobs. I do have a shop this afternoon I either have to do or reschedule, depends on how much longer I stay on this thing.

It looks like my volunteer shift at the church fish fry (taking drive through orders) is going to be really soggy...there's a good chance of rain for the entire two hours I'll be there. I have a raincoat and waterproof boots but can't find any waterproof pants :-(

I went to Aldi's. I got a bunch of stuff for my empty freezer, pineberries, Sugar Bomb tomatoes and snacks. And tea!

Thank goodness my phone app was wrong! Nothing but a light mist, and that didn't happen until the last half hour. However, Hubby was there longer than I was doing parking lot duty, and got caught in quite a deluge.

I gave your drenched hubby a shout out in the word association thread. It was a teensy bit punny.

Went to a Coffee Crawl...although after drinking quite a bit of coffee I definitely have too much energy to crawl!

The first day of Spring Break and it is raining. Cleaning and more cleaning. Almost 2:30 and I haven't showered. Well, it is Saturday.
I did a more difficult Pilates class this morning. It was a half step above beginners. My muscles were screaming! I enjoyed it.

Breathing and walking in the next smaller size of skinny jeans. I feel like chortling, but chortling would probably bust a seam, or something. Besides, chortling is bad form. I shall disguise this terrible behavior as the more benign vague online mutterings and assorted blah-blah.... It confirms what I have been coming to realize for a few years. Sure, I have an annoying thyroid issue. But the weight is not just due to thyroid. It is due to whatever the metaphysical gurus say is related to this type of thyroid issue. So kudos to them. They are right about one thing, at least.

Slept until 10AM today. I bought roller blades for DD's birthday online. I know she is going to love them. Ladies did marathon laundry and Hoover spin scrubbed the floors before going out tonight. DH at the golf course for the better part of the day. I iRobot'd the hardwood floors, deep cleaned 3 bathrooms and then made onion soup. It is so much easier to clean/get things done when people are not around. Tomorrow, I plan on a day of rest and relaxation.
Trip to Aldi and the wine store next door to that. Laundry; nap, conditioning my very dry hair, planning the week's errands and shops.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Made pintos in the Instant Pot and broth from vegetable scraps on the stove. Processed both and put in freezer for later use. Washed sheets, and decided to put the flannels on for one more cycle. Ordered a new set of summer sheets for when it's time to store flannels away. This afternoon a committee meeting via Zoom.

Washing spare room sheets and decided not to put flannels back on. Not sure when next person will come to sleep on them.

Congrats on downsizing your jeans! I need to lose 10 lbs myself, but just can't seem to get there!!

Driving Hubby to surgery center for second eye cataract procedure. Will walk in the area while I'm waiting for him to be finished. If I can get hold of apartment target will set an appointment for this afternoon after I drop Hubby off; otherwise I suppose I will do house tasks.

I did too much at home yesterday and missed the all-important nap before work. I was falling asleep in my cubicle again. Today, I promise myself, I will do better. I will complete only enough tasks to fill the time until nap time. Then, I will take a nap so that I might be able to stay awake at work.

@Shopper797: Your post inspired me to look up pediatric dentistry. Apparently, the hints and tips for young dental patients do not work equally well with all kids. I hope that her next appointment will be a more comfortable experience for her.

Celebrating "As Young as You Feel Day", which I didn't know was a thing until last night.

Happiness is not a goal; it is a by-product. Eleanor Roosevelt
Oh dear @KathyG, I don't feel very young.

This is my one day to do everything before going on a ski vacation Friday.

I suppose getting out of bed is a requirement. Lol
In my heart, I am about twelve years old and prancing around in the large universe and having all sorts of unstoppable fun. In my back, I am not more than nine hundred or nine hundred and fifty three years old and lumbering about the place. On average, I am a mere four hundred eighty two and one half years old, or a little less than that, depending. These measurements are not precise, you know. But seriously! I love that idea, KathyG! smiling smiley In honor of "As Young As You Feel Day" I feel free to grin and celebrate my inherited plush menagerie. Just looking at them is the antidote to harshness in the world. And, they now fit into various plush-y "homes" instead of spilling over into the egress areas. All is well. And safe. And celebrate-able.

I went to Sam's Club today. I compared the prices of the items in my cart to what I pay at Aldi's. I ended up putting everything back.

After I got out of that mindset, I bought fresh Sockeye salmon, a pasta salad, cheese and potstickers.
