Also, I have a meeting halfway across the state this Friday afternoon/Saturday. There's a forecast of some snow Friday, so I'm trying to decide if I want to leave on Thursday, shop my way across the state, and have a quiet hotel night before the meeting starts.

Today I am snowed in. Luckily, I wasn't already booked to work. Hubby met me, in the nearby village yesterday, in the truck. We left the car at family's place and barely got through the drifts in the truck!
Waiting for the snow plow before we can go any where.
Fixer Upper Movie and coffee and fresh biscuits in bed. No sausage gravy, but snowed in works for me.
If the road clears and Hubby goes to hockey, it'll be a glorious home alone day!

Listing a ton of stuff on Freecycle, with more to come in the next few days as we clear out some amazingly useful stuff from former housemate's area that she cannot take with her to assisted living and which her only close surviving relative cannot use.

Another snow day, another opportunity to hunker down at home... I am so pleased with where the projects are as of this morning. As of inspection time tomorrow, all but two rooms will pass muster with the egress standards. In a miracle, one more will pass. That depends upon my back. This is a good thing because we need to get back to work and earn some money again. This mandate was helpful in order to galvanize me for the moment and the next step in life: if we don't want to be in this aging old unit when it falls down, we will need to move to a different place. We are nearly ready to relocate and would only need a few more packing boxes and quite a few extra days because of my back. Reading about walesmavens' roommate makes me sad and glad at the same time. It is always sad when people must move to the depersonalizing places instead of living as whoever they once were. Fortunately, we are not ready to abandon all our stuff, which constitutes what retirement will be in our world. We are prepared to select a larger place-- or one that welcomes people to live fully in it instead of being constrained by factors at the intersection of legalities and assorted unhelpful design elements.

Drove Hubby to his endoscopy appointment, then took him out to breakfast. It's only 10 am, and I have no idea what the rest of the day holds :-)

So at the end of the day, I am still pleased. Hubby did a monumental task and got rid of a ton (or so it seems) of stuff that he will never have to deal with again. Ever. !!!!!! My back occasionally whimpers, "Do we haaaavvvvvee to do this now?" I give it a break, tell it I still love it, and mentally prepare my plea for another few days to complete all the details that we should address now. Our manager is reasonable and humane. They specifically stated that as long as we are making progress, we are in good standing. This is a good thing.

Baked a batch of "Original Toll House Cookies". I improvised and put in some chopped walnuts.
I needed produce and dairy products. Had to go to the bank. Aldi was on the way. Produce was beautiful, fresh and inexpensive. Dairy was fresh with excellent exp/use by dates. I was thrilled with the cheese choices and prices as usual. My family is comprised of cheese heads. However, the Aldi visit experience leaves much to be desired. :-)
Long eye doc visit this am; afternoon filled with Freecyclers coming to pick up many items. Possibly even the 3 pieces of the twin bed! (Awaiting confirmation on that one.) Smoke salmon, which should have been done yesterday. List more stuff on Freecycle. Possible quick grocery store visit. Get fuel.

Well, I am up and at 'em again. I just need to consolidate a few things, move a few others, and "Poof!" finish a project. When I was cleaning yesterday, I found the blackened bit of plastic that I wedged into the hole in the window sill. In some years, the bit of plastic keeps out some of the dirt that blows up from the ground beneath the window. This last time, not so much. I left it there as a reminder to show the new manager what happens in my world. No previous manager has cared that dirt literally blows into my space or that this happens every the wind blows strenuously (which is often) and in more than one window, The windows came this way. Could it be time for new ones? After all, reusable plastic bags will probably disappear at some point. Then, how will I keep the dirt down to a thin layer in my windows? Oh, yeah. I could patent just the right product and make gazillions upon gazillions of dollars for my little invention. Or, not. Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to move those things I go...

Leaving town a day early for a meeting to beat winter weather coming in tomorrow. After doing three mattress shops in county just to the west of me I get to decide what extra stops I want to make...or if I want to get to the hotel early and use the hot tub.

At the end of the day, I am pooped but pleased. I am going to put on my very best imperfectionist hat and go, guilt-free, to mil. I will forget about the still-to-do list and remember the completed I-did-so-much that now I can barely walk list. (I also nodded off a few times at my desk at work, but that was not so bad. At least I made it in to work today,)

After chopping the veggies for my noodle dish, I found out I was out of spaghetti. The box that was in the pantry was 1/4 full. In my search to see if there was another box hidden, I found some red rice glass noodles. They worked perfectly

Banged up carts, putting a quarter into one and trying to pull the cart out, people running around grabbing stuff like it's their last food shopping trip, food spills (guaranteed there is at least one or many), crowded parking lot, etc. It was not my first trip. I love the prices and when they are stocked with what I want. The strawberries I bought were so delicious and fresh.

I am still working and will do so until 10 PM? I am reading here while devouring a delicious garden salad topped with shredded cheese, balsamic vinegar. A slice of buttered Italian bread and I am good to go. DH and DD's went to the gym and then out to a seafood restaurant. I am enjoying the peace with our furry puppy love. I LOVE HIM!
Glass noodle turn translucent when cooked. Mine were the size and texture of whole wheat fettucini. These in particular are made from red rice flour. I got them last year from a Misfits Market delivery.

No mil. All roads are closed and we are stuck here for at least a few more hours. Even if roads open at the earliest projected time, it will be too late to start the trip. I am still wearing my very best imperfectionist hat and have decided to re-read a fave book and listen to opera. This time I have real opera and not one of the Peter Ustinov/Dudley Moore spoofs But dayam, those spoofs are good. !
