What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Thank you! Today, I finalized a route for gigs that I love and which require little speaking. "Good morning. I need to sign the vendor log now and when I leave.... Thank you so much. Have a great rest of the day!"

We're forecast for somewhere between 2"-6"...forecasters say they "can't pin it down" yet :-)

The store wasn't too bad. I used the self-serve checkout and there were plenty of open registers. It looked like the cashier lanes were getting plenty of action.

If the forecast rain/snow hasn't started after meeting #1 I will walk up to the grocery store for a couple of things.
Don't know where you are, KathyG, but I'm in the northwest corner of SC....we're getting ready for a MAJOR snow event. The mountains in NC can get 12-20" snow, my area is forecast to get 6-8" snow, less as you go further south. But the dangerous aspect to all this is the sleet/ice that will be accompanying this. Hubby and I hope we're far enough away from getting more than just a brief amount of that. It was CRAZY when I did my grocery shopping yesterday, a day earlier than normal, due to the forecast. Gotta go out today for a few more things. Snow is supposed to start very late Saturday/very early Sunday, then quit late Sunday afternoon/early Sunday evening. We've got gas logs, so we'll be warm even if the power goes out.....Oh.....and for anyone who DOESN'T live in the South.....well, even the mere MENTION of the POSSIBILITY of snow will actually cancel schools and make people go crazy buying up the entire grocery store! So my area getting 6-8" will keep schools closed all next week, you can be sure of that!!

I pay cash at the tolls when I visit my folks. If it's a cashless toll, DMV sends a bill which I promptly pay. COVID requires all tolls to be cashless. I just received my bill for May, 2021.

Warm and working from home. High winds and snow predicted for tonight. Winds are already here. I don't logout until 8PM or later for work. This will last until April. Stay safe everyone.
So work and weather have given us this narrow window of opportunity to visit mil and, if she will permit this, to help her with groceries or other little tasks. At work, one phase of one study is ending and shifts are shorter. This is good for voice, which can do a couple of hours now and then as long as I don't need to speak much but does not do full shifts without gagging, crackling, or other sound effects. This is good for a visit which does not last too long or take up too much of mil's day time. She has most of today for herself. When we leave tomorrow, she will be back to her normal and at least have had an opportunity for someone to help with groceries or other little things that are more difficult for her when the weather is worse than it is now. All is well.

The temperature didn't get as cold as predicted, so the several inches of snow turned out to be mainly rain and a few sloppy flakes (for which I'm extremely thankful). Did the twice-monthly big shopping this morning. All of the stores were empty; I was even able to zip in and out of Costco!

This evening we will go to church and get dinner out somewhere.

No snow. Now it's supposed to come Sunday night. Bitterly cold with high winds making it feel like -4. I cleaned like a fiend today. I ordered everyone to strip their beds. Let the laundry marathon begin. Getting dark out and I will go take a nap in about 5 minutes, lol.
Picked up a new large, covered trash can at Home Depot, found a few great bargains at Tuesday Morning; Cooked for a couple of hours so we will have mix-and-match planned-overs for dinners for several days. Took a nap.

I picked up an achiote paste from the international market. I used it to make some baked chicken thighs. They came out good.

A childhood friend contacted me on Facebook. He told me that another friend of ours killed his roommate with an axe and tried to rob someone. He sent me the news article. I had to read it several times.

Yeah. I was shocked. I mean, he was an axe murderer?! We played kickball with this dude!

Went to DSW to use a couple of discounts. Found a pair of waterproof hiking boots that I didn't know I needed. Came home and broke them in on a nice long walk.

Watching Hamish Macbeth. Built a gig day for later in the week and caught up on laundry. Enjoyed the drive home from mil. Weather was perfect, and there were numerous beloved critters to observe between there and here.

Trying to get rid of our old couch,. Last week the delivery people carried it down to the building garage and placed it against the wall in front of our cars. Put it on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for $200-no takers. Lowered the price to free-got six responses. Now I just need to pick someone and hope they follow through for pickup.

Not much we can do around here today. We've got 7 inches of snow from Sat/Sun snowstorm. We live on a cul-de-sac, so no plows coming down here. Plus....this is the SOUTH....you just wait till it melts, haha! The interstate and main roads will get plowed, but no secondary roads, and never a cul-de-sac!! Some melting going on today, and tomorrow will be in the 40s, so maybe by Wed or Thurs I can get out and do a bit of grocery shopping...because....there is A CHANCE of MORE SNOW this coming weekend!! Aarrgghh!!!!
I scrolled through my Pilates channel on YT this morning and saw a Tae Bo class. I took that instead. My body feels good!

I picked up some Jam grapes from the international market last week. Those things are addictive.

I got my official, new pants that will start the official, hoped-for down-sizing process. I have two brands for which I am certain of the fit and size. I can afford them even if they are not on sale, and I can get pants when I need them either online or in person. I calculated that because of unknowns in thrift store products, I have wasted the price of at least three new pairs of designer jeans. I do not need expensive names on my bum, and I do not want to play around with used pants. So, I used my loyalty card for a great discount on my moderately priced pants and am free to use these brands as needed (unless someone in design world does something daft like completely change the styles and thus the sizes, which would begin the pants identification process all over again). For now, all is well and I should have lemon water.

Spent most of the day doing lesson plans for the rest of my absence this week. I'll return to work on Friday as that is when DD is able to return to day care. We learned a dear uncle passed away yesterday from Covid.
Today was the pick weather day of the week, so Hubby and I went to the Botanical Garden and walked around, then continued the walk through a nearby neighborhood. Came home and supervised the pickup of the couch I posted on Facebook Marketplace.

The site was unofficially opened on Jan 18. My order was placed and is scheduled for shipment. I personally haven’t had a need for tests, but have not been able to find any for those I run errands for.
Hauling a ton of trash and recycling to the curb for tomorrow's pick-up.

I had a library book to pick up at a branch halfway across town because the website told me they had it on the shelf and I didn't want to wait for it to be transferred. After that I walked to and from the bank (6 blocks each way). Hit a Marketforce mattress shop then went across the street to a mall and did a couple of laps for more steps.

Working and still working. However, I received my laptop stand that DD ordered for me. I was complaining of a tired back and hunched shoulder syndrome leaning over my laptop. I LOVE IT! What a difference and so comfy. She got a bunch of hugs and kisses.
Today was such a beautiful day! Bright and rather warm....after DD's doctor apt, we did one grocery store shop and then went to the park! It's nice going to the park when all the kids are in school because we had everything to ourselves! One day until I'm back at the fulltime job....bittersweet.
It's all about whatever can be done before the nap before work. Due to lease conditions, nothing essential but noisy such as laundry and shredding can be done before 8 a.m. or after 10 p.m. My best hours are before 8 a.m. and my work hours are often during the last few hours before evening quiet time begins. Until then, I can just read my book, do a little work out, and hope for some efficiency miracle. Yeah, right... grinning smiley

Make sure your chair is adjusted so that your legs and arms are in an "L" shape. Raise your screen so that your eyes look at the top third of the screen. That's an ideal, ergonomic setup.

I'm switching cable companies. Verizon is giving me too many issues to justify the cost. Today is installation day.
