What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Looking at new tablets for me. Mine got glitchy over a year ago. Tired of doing everything on my phone.

Trying to think what buy 11 year old grandson. So, last minute.

For 11 year old... a hoodie with logo(s) for favorite sports team or Start Wars or .... fill in the blank. I always ask the mom of my great niece and nephew what is "hot" with each of them this year. That way my gifts will actually get used.

I should have asked my son in law. Next time.
I don't want to admit I haven't done this yet
Morning-volunteer work task/haircut/errands. Afternoon-catching up on house straightening/sitting down with crossword puzzle and a cup of coffee. Evening-figuring out what to wear and going with Hubby to his investment club Christmas party.

@prince, I got my daughter an image projecting arcade game from Target for $30. She will be 10 in a couple of months.

Besides homeschooling, wrapped all the presents today. Watching Modern Family.
Today was a speech session for my DD, 1 shop with DD yawning smiley), took one dog to the vet and got a $250 bill!
Slept late-- until eight. Working with bad voice is making me especially tired, and I am adjusting all other activities accordingly. Listening to a beautiful reading of beautiful blessings... aaaaahhhhh..... it is lovely!

Tomorrow, I'm going to do laundry and pack my clothes for my visit to my Mom and Dad's. They received the tall, fake plant I bought them from Wayfair.

Slept late again and woke to the strains of fragrant Christmas-y coffee wafting to me. Wake uuuuuuppppp, sleepyhead... Have a cuuuuuuuuuup... So I did. This coffee has a happy history with me. In the past, I shopped it, loved it, and recently found its distributed product in a store near me. I love that their locations in other cities are still open and thriving, and I love that they sent a holiday blend to my town. All is well in coffee world.

Trip to the gym, and one shop on the way home. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to tackle the last minute grocery shopping this afternoon, as I still don't know if Youngest Son will be coming on Christmas or if it will just be two of us at dinner.

I am shopping for a Christmas gift to me: Cutco knives!

I have been doing laundry all day. I forgot to wash my socks.

Sleep late, have more of the Christmas-y coffee, and finally make it to the oft-rescheduled merch. Will have an especially long holiday weekend due to insufficient voice/can't be a talking head for awhile. It's okay. Think there are still a few local gigs that don't require much talking. I can find out about those later.

My walk today was through the downtown area of the city I live in. Started before most of the shops were opened, but later in the morning popped in and out of the ones that interested me. The temperature started off about 40 degrees (lightweight winter coat weather), but a couple of hours later was over 50. Crazy for this time of the year!

It's nice to spend time with friends! My friend and her two children came over for cookie decorating with my little one.
Slowly building a couple of work days that will make up for lost time at work and provide a little visit with mil. The longer we visit, the less time there is to work on-site and complete reports. Fortunately, numerous cups of the Christmas-y coffee help with this process. Mmmmmmmmmmmm..... smiling smiley

It was great to have the windows open last night and hear the outside sounds. I actually kicked off the flannel sheet because it was too warm! This morning will be a Zoom meeting. After lunch Hubby and I will go downtown to a Catholic shrine that has a concert at 3 and Mass at 4. We will come home for a pizza and salad dinner.

Making cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, pumpkin pies, pecan pies and getting some other things ready to cook for dinner on Christmas. The more I do today the less I have to do for dinner on Christmas.
Besides shopping both today, 12/24 and tomorrow 12/25, I have a great deal of shop reporting to do for one MSC which has only quarterly deadlines on data submission. In addition to that, I am reading -- just like any other day.
Happy Whatever to Anyone Who Wants It! Fell asleep to the faintest patter of snow on my window and woke to the white Christmas of song, Currier and Ives prints, and some winter sports fans' thrills. Oddly, or fortuitously, the towns where I am scheduled to shop after Christmas are not expecting snow. Less work for the snow plow drivers, who really should be added to the esoteric list of universally recognized and frequently honored workers.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate this Special Day!

Opened gifts with hubby around 11 am this morning. I cooked an angus chuck roast in the crock pot (put it in at 1 am this morning), and hubby & I had that with potatoes, carrots and cream corn for our Christmas dinner about 2:30 today. We also spoke with our step-son in Florida and his 5 yr old daughter, and then later on I spoke with my 3 siblings on the phone. We can talk and talk!! Good thing long distance is free now!! (Remember when we had to be careful how long we talked because we were paying per minute for the privilege??).
We'll video chat with our son and family later this evening -- they'll be coming down to spend a couple of days with us next week. Took a brief nap a while ago. Just relaxing now.
Watching Columbo and checking weather updates. Will have the "traditional holiday meal" later today because we did not feel like dealing with it earlier. Looking for more gigs because I still do not have enough voice for my main job.

I had a great time with my parents! When I left home I stopped at the Dutch Market to pick up a pie. I ended up getting a Shoofly Pie, which I had never had before. Neither had anyone else.

First, it was heavy. Think of pecan pie on the bottom with a crumb cake topping. It's very rich. I had a small slice with my coffee this morning and it was awesome heated. Very gooey!

Yumness! Think I read about Shoofly Pie in an early Nancy Drew book. I wonder if a recipe is in the Nancy Drew Cookbook. Hmm. But those books are not accessible now because I am working with other books and doing projects. Thanks for the fun memory and future info search. smiling smiley

Preparing many bags of clothing and personal care items that I need to donate at the women's shelter this week. Hard decisions but, truth be told, I have far too many clothes, not just clothes that no longer fit since I lost weight.

Planning how to dispose of a ton of bubble wrap and bubble envelopes THIS week! Ditto for accumulated small shipping boxes...THIS week. Fitting all of this week's chores around 6 shops in DC.

Also doing loads and loads of laundry, poaching chicken thighs; making a big batch of chicken, salsa, black bean soup and freezing most of the thighs and the soup. Researching how to use a Roku attachment to my TV and, perhaps, close out some of the "chunks" of channels that make my bills so high each month. This will allow me to also take advantage of the Prime video service and make it easier to stream a lot of PBS items from a huge program library that the Roku can access.
Doing a lot of 2022 financial "figuring," as in: Hmmm, Medicare premium for basic goes up $22 per month; but switching Advantage plans saves $101 per month and expands my coverage. How much faster can I pay off my car?

Fitting all of this week's chores around 6 shops in DC.

Wish I lived closer, as I'm always looking for packing material for USPS shops.

So if walesmaven used a shipping shop to ship the paking materials to KathyG, there would be some sort of perfection in shipping world. ?

Planning on enjoying my week off of my full time job. I plan on doing enough shops to recoup daycare cost. I would like to clean the garage, my bonus room, and put together my patio swing. I also want to rest a bit too!
Nothing. The day revolves around a little road trip and open/closed roads, which will make it a long road trip. If I had a voice, I could stay in town and work enough to sustain me until I could be a fair weather shopper. But that is the perfect world. I live here (but would not live anywhere else). grinning smiley
