Trying to decide: skip a shift and watch new season of holiday baking competition while sorting a boatload of stuff, or be a talking head and miss out on all those exclamations of 'divine!', 'gorgeous!', and the facial expressions when the judges are not quite certain that something is going to be safe to eat... Hmmmm... So that was easy. Stay home, watch the fun show, sort a boatload of stuff, and (to applease my conscience), do the laundry. Until then, I just need to pay bills, gaze upon fresh snow that fell softly through the night, and pat myself on the back for following that little inner nudge yesterday to fetch groceries before a predicted storm. Happy November to all who at least by default will experience this month... grinning smiley

Did the monthly money counting commitment at church, a small Costco run, and a half hour walk through the neighborhood. My heel, which began hurting back in July, has had its ups and downs-today was definitely a down. I'm counting down the days to an orthopedic doctor appointment next week.

Bank deposits; small grocery run; nap; learning a LOT about how to use the features of the Train Station game by finally reading the forum there. DUH !

Missed the holiday baking thing last night but found 'Two Fat Ladies' and will spend no time wondering how I missed it and all available time enjoying it. ! Lovelovelove the variety of kitchens and the field trips. So far, they have fetched fish, potatoes, goat milk, and honor system veggies. I stopped the video where they are baby elephant sitting. Don't know if their version of a lullaby could prevent a stampede. It might cause one! Unfortunately, I still have to work and do a few errands and delay gratification instead of binge-watching this show..

Got a text from one of the DILs thanking us for the new toys for the children. However, when I sent the boxes I asked her to put them away in a closet until Hubby and I arrived at the end of November so we could wrap them for Christmas presents.

Oh Dear Kathy, that is frustrating!
What is Jiffy? I'm thinking not Peanut Butter lol

What an I doing today. Standing by as Hubby installs new Dishwasher. Asking him to call an electrician. I would rather pay for that than plan his funeral.
He assures me that he has the correct breaker off now. And that the shocks were just little zings. :{

My shop (a soda fountain restaurant located in a tourist attraction downtown) served as a date for Hubby and me. My reimbursement was quite generous, and after lunch I ordered a "freak shake" (at $18, nothing I would ever buy on my own dime). It came in a glass that had a rim encrusted with miniature chocolate chips and potato chips, was topped with a heavy layer of whipped cream, and had a chocolate-covered pretzel rod, brownie, and Reeses stuck into the whipped cream. Between Hubby and me we finished off everything but the brownie.

Jiffy is a brand of muffin mix that is common in the US grocery stores. It's very inexpensive and results in good, tasty corn muffins (or corn bread). It comes in a small box, about 6" long by 3" across and 1" wide.

ETA: It is the powdered part of the mix. You have to add an egg, some milk, and a bit of oil, I believe....it's been a while since I've used the mix.

Jiffy also has/had easy & good date bread. I should look for that. Today is all about house tasks, nap, and work.

*eta* According to the Jiffy web page, the fourteen available Jiffy products do not include the date bread. But I can adapt a recipe for that. Hah!

Substitute in grade 1 for the AM, Flu shot, meet Hubby for lunch, go ice skating. If I'd known ahead I was subbing I could have done a gas mystery shop, but someone got it sad smiley
Now on the couch. lol
I gotta' get a life. Gotta' get a life... get... a... life...... So when hubby started telling me all the details of the Ruggs/Tintor situation (because the Gabby/Brian thing has palled), I started looking at details. The US government has been investigating Toyota Rav4, model years 2013 - 2018, because there were multiple complaints regarding the vehicles bursting into flames. Apparently, a Corvette and high speed are not necessarily the only cause of this incident involving a 2013 Rav 4-- but they might be factors. Please don't flame me. The entire situation is tragic for all affected, regardless of what actually happened. Going to bed now, which seems to be the only way to stop this search for details.....

In response to a letter from the IRS about my tax refund (loooong overdue) I will dig out my 2020 return and call the phone number and try to prove that I am me. Apparently claiming the refund of the taxes withheld on UI payments triggered this delay and investigation. You might think that since the IRS has my tax forms for the past 60 years or so, 30+ of them at this address, that they would know that I am me and at this address ???

On the plus side, 6 weeks of emergency UI payments from early weeks of 2021 just arrived from Maryland as a DD to my bank. I had given up on ever seeing those funds as weeks of trying to contact MD DoL help number (offices were all closed) had not worked.

Hubby flamed me a few times. He did not like that I pointed out a few things that must be investigated, and then he jeered that I should work for an insurance company. Not my fault. Everyone needs to determine how much responsibility everyone brought to the situation before they start pawing at the Ruggs money. Were the tail and brake lights on and working on the Rav 4? Was the Corvette speed (156 mph, then extremely rapidly down to 127, as per the air bags) the real speed of that vehicle? Perhaps there is complete fault; there might be blame to spread around after all has been investigated. I just don't like snap judgements such as the ones hubby makes. (For example, he had Brian Laundrie pegged as a serial killer of Gabby and two people in/from Moab, Utah. That was not the truth. I wish he would wait for information before assigning blame and condemnation to people. Gah.)

Hi Kathy. What type of fellowship do you possess?

We all worked. The gang and I made a trip to Target to purchase baby registry items for my nephew's/niece in law's baby shower tomorrow. Nothing like waiting until the last minute? So not like us but be that as it may. Went out to eat at a local Japanese restaurant afterwards as we were starved. Went to Trader Joe's afterwards as we are planning a family "DIM SUM" tea party Sunday morning. Mom coming home with us after the baby shower, YAY! DH made himself a sandwich and heated up a can of Progresso soup. :-)
I got my Covid booster today. I’ve not scheduled anything for three days in case I have side effects, but am hoping for three days off, feeling great. Just in case though, I made a pot of chili and a chicken almond casserole.
Great to be prepared. Hubby had zero reaction to his booster.

Two hour walk around the neighborhood pond this morning. After that, I got a manicure and went grocery shopping.

One item I got was a sockeye salmon that was 50% off because the sell by date was today. I made it for dinner and it had no flavor.

Went to an orthopedic doctor today and got an official diagnosis of plantar fasciitis. He gave me some exercises and told me I needed to ALWAYS wear shoes in the house (even when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom). If the issue is not better in four weeks I am to go back to discuss more aggressive treatment options.

Later in the morning I went to a shoe store and bought some Birkenstock house shoes. At first the arch support drove me crazy but after a couple of hours I'm getting used to it.

Enjoying the last days of my 30's sad smiley Turning 40 this week. Maybe it's a good thing. Growing old is certainly a privilege. Each time I turn a year older, I think about an old classmate in 7th grade who died in an accident. She had so many plans. in the 90's, we had those water/sticker tattoos. I wanted to see her tattoo and her last words were "I am in a hurry. Will show you tomorrow." The same day, she and her little sister died in an accident. Gets me every time.
What a haunting memory. We just never know.

Happy early birthday, Mum!

Wow!

No matter how old we get, every year is a blessing.

Since I threw out my Birkenstock house shoes, I have such pain. I did always wear them, even when I got out of bed for a bathroom visit. Have to get some house shoes.
