What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I visited Mom and Dad for the weekend. I arrived with a small backpack and a purse, and left with a carload: plants, clothes and, of course, food!

Laundry marathon. Cleaned 2 bathrooms. DH closed the pool. :-( Watched 2 episodes of Downton Abbey.
I skipped my errands yesterday so today, after 2 garages, Aldi and wine store.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Yearly physical, then dropping off Oldest Grandson's birthday present at the post office (shop). Then will see where the day takes me

Don't know yet... might drop off the car for another tire repair (because hubby did not agree that a screw in the tire was worth mentioning during the last tire repair visit). might stay at home and install new-to-us appliances, might go off yonder somewhere into nature and enjoy cooler temps in the middle of nowhere before serious Autumn and Winter will keep us away from there for months... it is wonderful to be free on a free day... aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... grinning smiley

Enjoyed a wonderful paddle in my kayak. Chatting with a friend while we paddled.
Cut a bit short due to a new beaver dam. lol
Waiting to hear about a gig. It was for yesterday, but I did not see the e-mail for it until this morning. If they still need me and remember my bonus, I will happily do that. Meanwhile, I have a few errands and need to put books back in a bookcase that was moved to make way for the less old washing machine. The new-so-us machines work, so all the fuss was worth it.I especially like that the dryer timer works. No more staying up late because of the dryer! Can you say, beauty sleep? grinning smiley

Prepping for 2 day MS road trip. Quick trip to Staples for printer paper. Taking non-driving neighbor grocery shopping later.

Being the chauffeur for Hubby, who is getting a dental implant today. Then I will come home and make a dinner that involves no chewing.

Got my tires rotated earlier today, something I'm very diligent to do every 5-6,000 miles. They are 40,000 mile tires that now have 46,000 miles on them, and the tech said they're good for another 10,000 miles. YAY!
Back when I had my old car, all of the tires had come from the same independent garage. Because I bought them there they would rotate them for free.

Yep, I get them rotated for free, too. The place I bought these at is a small, family owned, independent tire/brake/alignment shop. Hubby & I have been buying tires there for over 20 years.
I'm binge watching the Law & Order shows. I like seeing stars before they were stars.

Surprisingly good work day yesterday (along with watching something called Crown Lake) meant that nothing was accomplished at home. So today I will ease back into house tasks, work this ol' bod, and finish a book. If awake, I might try a shift at 'Talking Heads R Us' or not...

I made my first sale on the teacher's website!! I had posted a lot of homeschooling material and I never hoped to make anything because generally, a lot of material is free and if something sells, it is top-notch. I made a whopping 25 cents after tax and commission on my first sale. The worksheet itself was a dollar. It's a start.
I did a (weight based) gym shop yesterday. After the class I had barely broken a sweat and felt fine. Today, however, I can barely move. After my housework stuff for today is finished I think a nap will be in order.

Subbing. I was the gym teacher all day!
10,000 steps just at school!
Tomorrow is National Truth and Reconciliation Day (with indigenous peoples) No school tomorrow so we played indigenous games all day in gym. Pretty fun.
Recovering from getting stuck in the elevator, a recent death of a friend, and harassment by a resident in the building whom I do not like , creating a paper trail, reading about Allen Dulles and Indonesia, and creating systems to prevent being misused as I run MS like a business. September is suicide prevention month.

The new W-2 job is fully remote. I had an idea of creating a WFH space in an alcove in my living room. It's a blank space 33" wide. I would need to paint, have outlets installed for the computer and peripherals, and get or build a desk

I was putting something away in my kitchen and noticed the space where I store my gardening supplies is a built in desk. It has the surface area, outlets and drawers I can use for files. The only thing I would need is an ergonomic chair.

Happy Thursday! For whatever reason, I love Thursday. This one is all about working out, finishing the book that was not finished yesterday because I chose to watch an old movie, and no more than five house tasks. Was relieved to learn of a good change for Britney Spears. I know how important it is to re-arrange life sometimes and how absurdly difficult some people want to make this for others. Fortunately, she has the right people who are making this happen for her. Mind you, she is courageous and her own efforts are leading the charge. Go, Britney! Hoping that everyone is having as good a Thursday as I am... smiling smiley

Shop-et-al, I'm curious: what's your fascination with Britney Spears?

"I told myself to quit you; but I don't listen to drunks." -Chris Stapleton
@HonnyBrown: Good question. Britney Spears had experienced a rough patch, as many people do, and she was placed in a conservatorship that outlasted its usefulness to her. Her pleas for change had been ignored and the very nature of conservatorship permitted this. Part of the difficulty there is inherent in the powers granted to conservators. They may interpret and command practically at will and often without being challenged. As a result, Britney, I, and and unknown number of others have not been heard, responded to, and treated properly. As an ordinary person, I would never make the news or generate any buzz. Just by breathing, Britney generates buzz. Her situation will force a global examination and re-examination of conservatorships, guardianships, and other forms of assistance versus control. This is long overdue, and her fame and willingness to speak out is invaluable for the entire world because we all face little (or large) change points where we may exert or experience too little, too much, or the wrong sort of power, control, or influence. This is part of life, and we all need to know when we are too strong, too weak, or just right. We also need to know how to adjust ourselves lest anyone do this for us (or need to suspend us permanently from a conservatorship!). For me, nothing changed except that someone who used to speak for me and command others as if they knew anything at all about me fell ill, stopped communicating, and then died. During this time, I was finally known as the real me-- not as the monster that was portrayed to others as if on my behalf and in my best interest. Nothing changed, except that tptb discovered that I was so much better that I could be set free. What really happened was... well... perhaps the scales finally fell from their eyes. Grateful and free, I am interested in: 1) Britney's situation is handled properly and other conservatorships or guardianships about which I know nothing also are handled properly. 2) The global understanding of conservatorship is considered, re-considered, altered as needed, and generally is made to be helpful and never harmful to anyone. This will involve many lessons, span every future generation, and will need to reach the wisest of hearts and minds because this will apply to many types of situations around the world. 3) No one else is harmed via conservatorship or guardianship. 4) Conservatorship and guardianship are only helpful and never harmful. 5) If opportunity arises, we all might consider other forms of being helpful and not harmful in extra legal ways. This might ease someone's burden or at least not add to it, even if we never have a legally mandated role in their lives.

Hubby and I worked through (most of) a chapter in our city scavenger hunt book. While walking around the neighborhood we talked to a couple of the group of people wearing name tag lanyards. We learned that they were finishing up a mystery tour visiting places in the metropolitan St. Louis area. They got on a bus in Wisconsin knowing only when the tour would be finished....no idea where they were going or what they were doing. After this last stop they were headed back home.

Dog and pony show over for the new client. Food galore for the past 2 days. Worked, vacuumed and dusted 2 bedrooms. Good night.
Up early for a few quiet house tasks, a workout, and more of Bryant & May. Despite Land's best efforts to close the office temporarily for computer updates, his crafty spouse quashes that plan and inspires her miffed man to scurry off to the PCU (where old Bryant may or may not write up his reports in Navy code or medieval cryptograms, just to be annoying) and stay there late. Hmmph! Hah! So while she is painting her interior home world in "a disagreeable shade of heliotrope" the dark tale of crime will unfold and enlighten this curious reader... Seriously. It is Friday. I must go to work but would rather stay at home and read this fun series until my eyeballs fall out of my head.

Crosswords are my new thing now. Daughter and I set up a time to do a morning crossword. I do mine and she does something age appropriate for her. AARP has a free crossword everyday..don't need to join. I print it so I don't spend a lot of time on screen. Tuesday's annual blood work. We missed last year because of COVID. After labs, husband's taking the whole day off. Planning to go to a pumpkin farm and pick a pumpkin. There are lots of outdoor activities like corn maze, hay bale fun, etc. Apple picking was fun last week. Loads of apples still lying around. Made jam, juiced them, snacked on a few. Don't think I would be shopping for apples anytime soon.
