What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

The upholstery on Hubby's office chair is tearing and needs to be replaced. Today I took the cushion off and started removing the staples holding the fabric on. There must been at least 100, maybe more.

My friend is taking me to my garden plot this afternoon. I still have basil, 2 oregano plants, a row of beets and 2 tomato plants. I pulled all of my green and yellow beans.
Combined a kolache breakfast shop with a walk through the neighborhood. The weather was wonderful.

Later today we're going to a friend's farm for a bbq.

Little road trip for errands, a little laundry, and a little nap before work.

I started painting my living room walls. I used the roller, so now I have to get the edges with the little paint brush.

What color did you choose?

My accent wall is blue. I wanted tan for the remaining walls. When I went to the Oops section at Home Depot, there was a gallon of nail polish tan paint and primer.

It looks nice!

The next projects in the living room:

Paint the window walls (dunno what that is called)
New blinds
Extend the window ledge
Replace the outlet covers
Reface the fireplace
Replace the doors leading to the kitchen
Install an overhead light fixture
Debating on furniture

Labor Day. All my grandiose plans to be extremely productive and transform my still-messy world into a lean, mean, efficiency machine have been right-sized to this: fave hybrid workout, listen to wonderful stuff, fave stretching to the point of practically purring workout, nap, and no more than ten house tasks sprinkled throughout the day.

@Shop-et-al that shopping area near Safeway just be ever had a nail/ other self care type of shop.

Every single thing is open in Alberta. Haven't been restrictions on capacity, nothing!
Haven't had to wear masks since July first.
Oh! Maybe that's why our numbers are so high!

They just brought back mask wearing, and capacity rules on Saturday. Though 220 people in a medium sized store sounds very crowded at the best of times.
Thanks. It took me 3 years to paint a few walls. We'll see when the plan comes to fruition!

I stopped by Safeway to get some chicken custom cut for chop suey. While I was waiting, I saw that they had sea bass. I used to get that from the farmers market in LA regularly. This was my first time seeing it here. I bought 3 pieces.

Bike ride, trip to the fabric store to buy vinyl to recover Hubby's office chair.

Beautiful weather today. I made 2 tomato pies with Gruyere cheese, onions, garlic, basil and eggs. Hoover spin scrubbed the kitchen floor and had to be a traffic cop while doing so. I usually Swiffer Wet Jet. Went in the pool with the girls. Watched 3 episodes of Downton Abbey.
I love sea bass!

After 2 shops, taking non-driving neighbor to grocery store. Trying to find someone to take out a higely overgrown bush from my front yard and do about 1 hour of other small garden chores.

Perfect morning. Potential gig did not happen (not a surprise due to the ever-changing gig landscape that covid demands or gives us by default) and freed me to visit the club store early. This was wonderful because my back still had some hard work left in it. Those groceries were heavy! After 'movie & a workout' I will do the daily ten house tasks, read something, sort something, and be pleased because a few things were completed. Simple. Mmm...

Started the morning with my monthly volunteer shift at the parish office counting money from Sunday's masses. The job usually happens on Monday, but got pushed back because of the holiday yesterday. There are four people in the group. Hubby and I showed up a few minutes early. Waited 20 minutes and no one else was there. A church employee called the other people. One had forgotten (because of the day change) and one was running late.

Eventually everyone showed up and the job got done. Then a trip to Costco for gas, steps, and samples. Later I will work on putting a new covering on Hubby's office chair.

It was so flavorful, I didn't need to season it.

So there was an update. Bro is not going anywhere soon, except to another level of care. Sil surmises this is the next step toward a ventilator. Sil was fortunate and received some effective treatments; she asks for prayers for Bro. *hopes, prays, waits* So the rest of this day is for workout, house tasks, look at possible gig days which replace talking head days, and nap before work. After two days away from the talking head job, I am remembering why I very much appreciate the variety of work that I can do. Some of each just makes me happy!

Trip to a different branch of my gym. While I'm in the area doing a mattress store shop and hitting some other retail locations. Sitting in on a Zoom community college class Hubby signed up for about Medicare just to see if what I've learned from all my shops is still applicable.

Found a new fun thing: yet another baking competition to watch. If I could afford to indulge, I would create my own little at-home baking/cooking challenges. reasonable and unreasonable adaptations for assorted likely and outre situations or just for giggles; choose every third ingredient within reach up to ~ 20 ingredients and make a course or meal from them; cook meals that represent each continent, one continent per day; etc. Just now, I need to stir the plant-based and extra fiber into the mostly decaf and add five minutes to my daily walk.

Bach is not noise, Madam. (Robert, in Two's Company)
Started the day by walking (less than a mile) to an urgent care to have fasting blood drawn for an upcoming physical. Hubby came with me, and helped me make a good choice of breakfast foods at the grocery store afterwards :-) We continued walking, and when we passed a Walgreens decided to go in and get our flu shots.

We went to the Lincoln Park Zoo today and sat by Lake Michigan. The zoo got boring after a while but the walk by the lake was relaxing. Chicago is just so colorful, busy, and different from our little suburbia. I came back with a little headache but no worries, I am off dinner duty today..my one day of the week!!
Need that previously mentioned low-rise foot stool for under my desk at work, asap. I will not have time to pick one up as part of a shop today, but thanks to previous mystery shops I know where to get one and how much it will cost. Who knew. So today is for a little road trip, a little can-do-while-hubby-drives workout, a little merchandising after the talking head job, and some sort of stretching workout after that. Tomorrow is free day! Unless you count a little more merchandising and finding the fun shows. Yesterday, I found baking contest shows from Kenya, Argentina, and Britain. Can you say, tiger bread?

Today I am taking a drug test for a new job then stopping by the post office to mail a letter to the IRS.

When we were in the middle the heatwave a few weeks back, I did 4 Looks at car dealerships. Three were in the same location. At the end of the last Look for a Porsche, I actually fainted from heat exhaustion. I got in the Porsche and turned the AC on full blast to finish the report.

When I went inside to turn in the keys, my contact gave me a hug and 2 bottles of ice cold water.

This is a completely new job. I was offered a new assignment with my last company. It wasn't going to work out for me.

ETA: Also, I need an adult paycheck!
