What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

My happy news should be on the book/reading thread. Whatevs. Fowler's Bryant & May are part of a series and not just 'on the loose'! And, Babson's Trixie and Evangeline are in a few more books than I have located. My cozy reading future is assured, if not yet on hand. *happy sigh* Finding the unread books is almost as fun as reading them. Meanwhile, today is for a few errands, a few house tasks, a nap before work, and creating a budget category for specific books..

With the rising cases, we opted to not send our daughter to school. The school isn't providing a virtual option and has asked us to enroll in Homeschooling and they would be still providing 60 minute instruction per week. My daughter is doing great with homeschooling so we agreed. I don't see any sense in putting her in harm's way with the grim situation in our county.
@Mum: Your daughter is blessed because she has parents who can also teach her school subjects.

@Shop-et-al. Thanks. I do love teaching and I don't consider it a burden or chore. It has become a way of life since the past year. The teachers were really supportive of our decision which is a blessing.
Hubby had hernia repair surgery today. We got to the hospital at 6 am, and he left for the operating room at 8. Per hospital policy I spent the next 2 1/2 hours alternating between walking, sitting in my car, and sitting in the cafeteria. When I got a call that Hubby was in a recovery room I joined him there. However, he was having a problem completing some basic digestive system functions and they wouldn't let him leave until he did. At 3:00 they called the doctor. We finally left at 3:30. UGH!

There. All is ready for the rest of this week and next week. I know when I am working, taking time off, and available for the next Bryant & May or Trixie and Evangeline book. Hoping for a good outcome for everyone with work, school, health, travel, etc.

I'm glad I don't have any school aged children now. Such a hard decision to make.

Morning Costco run (as much for the steps as for the merchandise), after-lunch trip to Fresh Thyme and pastry/coffee run, and afternoon trip to the mall for more steps. Hubby thought he could just bounce back after his hernia surgery and did too much; we are going to pass on tonight's funeral visitation for the mother of an acquaintance.

What else am I doing today? I'm completely stunned by the >incompetence< [ONE WORD] of the leader of the free world. Please! Someone assure me that the nuclear football is >in competent< hands. [TWO WORDS]
First of two days off from the talking head job. I feel like I need a year away from all the talking in order to recapture some semblance of a consistently good voice. Talking so much for work exhausts my voice and the rest of me. Two days are helpful, and I reduced my hours for next week. I have enough gigs to replace a few shifts and plan to schedule a visit with an ENT who can figure out what is going on with that. Just now I need to wake up sleeping beauty, aka hubby, and start the busy day.

I put the big plants outside for a drink of rainwater. To my surprise, the windowsill basil, which I planted last week from seeds, has sprouted. The bedroom dragon plant was watered this week, so it stayed inside.

I sniffed fresh mint and fresh basil today. They were ready to provide just a few leaves and to plant... and I wanted to scurry home and plant them somewhere. I do not have a place to plant these herbs... alas...

Took the day off today. Knew I would be home alone. Cleaned like a fiend. I am loving the results and enjoyed my music.
Free day! Unless you count work out, errands, groceries, and laundry.....

I'm not 100% and trying to figure out why. Could be allergies, could be sore foot, could be ???

Could be a sign that you need to put your feet up and watch... say... what I am watching. Julie Andrews and Christopher star in a filmed version of the play On Golden Pond. It originally aired on CBS and is now free with ads on Youtube.

I opened my garage fridge to note the contents. I found a wheel of brie. That was a very nice surprise.

No sunny windowsills? That's where most of my small plants are.

Monsieur Henri pirouetted in and pirouetted out. Relaxed, cooked and ate. Watched 3 episodes of Downton Abbey. Cleaned my bathroom better.
Errands. Workout. Nap before work.

@Madetoshop: Please to know that Henri did not harm your world.

A heat advisory is going into effect later today, so right after breakfast I took a bike ride. Later this morning is a dermatologist appointment. The rest of the day hinges on if I get hold of my target at an apartment or not.

Got to have lunch with 7 friends from grade 7. 6 in person, one on the TV screen from Germany. Super day!
The usual: workout, work at home, work at work.

A few weeks ago, I got some houseplant cuttings from Freecycle. I sat them in the windowsill to root. I planted it in a flowerpot this morning and sat it next to my pathos. I now have 36 houseplants. The next project will be to "style" them.

That's awesome, Prince! It must have been great to reminisce about the stuff y'all did in grade school!
Going out to lunch at a new to us fancy Italian restaurant.
