What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

@HonnyBrown. Yes, we are very close although she shares a much closer bond with our older sis. I was the middle child who never got her way. Mum would say "listen to her, she is older..give that to her, she is younger."

Cases in Illinois are rising. Makes me nervous about sending my unvaccinated kid to school. Maybe I won't for the first month.

Went with hubby to his heart cath today. We are blessed!! The results showed NO NEW BLOCKAGES and the three stents that are there are in GREAT shape! As the doctor said to us, "His plumbing is wide open!" Now...as to the chest discomfort....it could very possibly be esophageal spasms, which the doctor said can mimic serious chest discomfort. And....interestingly enough, nitroglycerin WILL ALLEVIATE the discomfort from esophageal spasms, so hubby can continue using that for relief. And in another month or so, we'll look into his now-apparently-the-cause gastric issues. But for now....we are both VERY THANKFUL that he got the results today that he did.
I bought my Mom a new TV for her birthday. It will be delivered on Thursday.

Sad, sad day. My childhood friend passed away yesterday. Contracted COVID early Feb. Placed on ventilator, went into nursing home, told he would have to have a double lung replacement and then this. Two brilliant kids newly in college. Before that, he started a go fund me page to deliver gratis meals to front line medical workers with friends and his kids. Be careful everyone. :-(
Oh, MadeToShop, I'm so sorry to hear about you losing your friend. ~Hugs~ going out to you as you grieve this loss.
Madetoshop, my sympathies. This COVID is a sneaky thing.

Trip to the gym. After lunch my make an offer for a mattress store was accepted. It was right down the street from other errands I needed to run so my gas to get to and from those was reimbursed.

Brief trip to Aldi and to the pizza place next door to it. Going out before the heat index hits the deadly range. I am very susceptible to problems from high heat and poor air quality.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
In St. Louis the heat is supposed to break tonight. I assume you'll get the same weather 24 hours after us?

No serious relief due until around Monday when several days of heavy rain will wash the air clean, but keep the humidity high. At least I will then be able to breath outside, under an umbrella, lol.

In between my two post office shops I popped into a dying mall for the first time in over a year. They've blocked off the two wings so only the center court is available, and installed pickleball/badminton courts there.

Hot, hot, hot. Worked and went out to a local Italian restaurant with my loves. Tomorrow, picking up Mom to stay for at least the weekend, hopefully longer.
Making another batch of homemade fresh tomato sauce. Will free is in 2 meal portions. Cleaning some floors. Avoiding going outside into dangerous heat and poor air quality. Cleaning up desktop. Rescheduling lots of things due to weather/air quality issues.

Has anyone heard from heather?

First productive day at home in ages! Workout, start fab book, clean floors, and laundry x 2 before work. After work... well... I will probably flop early and feel wonderful about the home improvements as I drift off to sleep....

I picked up four plant cuttings from a Freecycle donor. They are in glasses in the windowsill garden until they sprout roots.

My outdoor basil is not growing as quickly as I want it to. I'm going to plant the remaining seeds in a small pot and keep it indoors.

Rotating the big indoor plants as one has sunburn...on a plant!

New plan: On inspection the tomatoes on hand were not really ripe enough. So, into a brown paper bag they go, to hasten ripening. Will check on progress in 2 days.

Saw my neurosurgeon on the 6th. Surgery date is Oct 4, and that is only if it doesn't get cancelled due to COVID. Many hospitals are not excepting elective surgery again because of the surge. I am so ready. I'm not doing many shops because of the pain level. Mostly Sonics. I'm getting a laminectomy and discectomy from L2 to L5. I will have some mobility issues, but the physical therapist will help with that, and if it helps the pain it's worth it.
Got a text from Youngest Son asking if we had a copy of his birth certificate. When I talked to him I found out his wallet had been stolen and he needed to go to the DMV and get a new license. Since I had nothing on the calendar I drove the certificate over to him at his house. Came home and made dinner, baked tofu for next week's lunches and made barley for tomorrow's breakfast.

I found out about Oops! paint at Home Depot. I'm going to check out the goods today.

Oops! paint are dented cans or colors that customers did not like. They are sold at a discount.

I am joining the hunt for pillows of various thicknesses which could include a Purple pillow, old but good towels, a low-rise foot stool, and anything else that I can get locally that will help me at work. The various seating is for a tall person who has long legs and needs the computer as high as a giraffe would or anyone who can sit on a covered board for hours on end (no pun intended!). Yes. I am like the princess of pea fame. No. I am not a diva. I just need to be able to return home from work like a stick pretzel and not as a twisted one. Wish me luck-- with finding adaptive things and pretzel shops. Using the analogy reminded me that I like those shops!

@HonnyBrown: Some Home Improvement stores have shops just now.

Grocery shopping; poached 3 lb of boneless, skinless chicken thighs to later freeze; laundry; nap; folding and storing a ton of laundry.

I bought a big girl fridge in April. It's 21 cuft and my old one, which is in the garage, is 16 cuft. The freezer is almost full, but the fridge shelves are pretty empty. Go figure.

Back to work. Loved having a free day yesterday! *note to self: pack the heating pad and extra comfy things to move around and so be comfortable at work*

Walked up to the grocery store for a couple of things. Came home and did some cooking chores, including making broth from the bag of frozen vegetable scraps. Went to a event at a nearby park that featured speakers and a visit from the ice cream truck. Now getting ready for a Zoom meeting.

Much better today. I used the heating pad at work and could stand and walk this morning. Go me. So today is for more of the book, a few house tasks, and a nap before work.
