Everything I've picked up today has gone sour. Not horrible, just annoying (think driving out of the way to get something at a specific store only to find out they're out of that thing). The day's only half over, and I'm not looking forward to seeing what else can go wrong.

I am not superstitious, but... at this solstice, there is a rare event. Jupiter and Saturn are extremely close together now. They have not been this close in nearly 8oo years. So this phenom is dubbed the Christmas Star of 2020. The link leads to fun facts at space.com.

I choose to blame this astronomical event for your sour day and my awol phone.

@heathershops: My phone is turned off because of my job. If it accidentally picks up and records sensitive information... well.. as mystery shoppers, we know why that would be bad.

I fixed the moon phase error. Can I have the doctorate in fun facts now, please? what.

Seriously. I still have not found my phone. The good news is that if anyone finds it, they probably will not be able to figure out how to unlock it. The bad news is, I need that phone. It was budgeted to last until 2022 or until obsolescence, whichever comes first.

I know the phone frustration. I wanted my previous phone to last longer as I want a new computer.
Now I am hoping this one lasts until it's paid for! I still don't have the new computer!
At the risk of being tossed from the planet, may I just say that I like the idea of beautiful buildings? These have been suggested for Washington DC. It would be soothing to many eyes and souls if that area were cohesive and not a constant jangle of jarring, jolting images. I appreciate art and architecture and would like a smoother blend of old and new structures and spaces in the world. For one thing, it provides continuity. In this instance, President Trump is like the continuity editor of a development. Hmm.

Yesterday's apartment shop has bled over into today...when I got hold of the agent yesterday he said he had nothing to show me and suggested another complex managed by the same company. That's usually enough for the shop to turn into a $5 phone call attempt, but this time they want me to actually show up. Here's hoping that I can get the dude on the phone again....

Other than that, I should be able to pick up some of the hardier perishables for Christmas dinner and get out and enjoy the 50 degree weather.

Sunny and high temp almost 50 F. Soooo, I can don sandals for the short walk to my car and from the car to the salon for a long overdue pedicure ! I will also be doing some cooking (and freezing) ahead. Calls to supplier/contractors for in-person discussions of the stair-lift selection and installation.

I'm watching a feel good movie on Prime Video called "The Secret: Dare To Dream." I will be so glad when Christmas gets here: three day weekend!

To mail one card and a pencil to my students would be $3.80 each! I have 15 kiddos! So I took the pencils out and just mailed the cards. After visiting the the post office on Monday and Tuesday, I'm glad I will not have to go tomorrow.
Snow day canceled the early job, and I slept until 5 AM. That felt good! When the sun comes up and I can see what is happening out there in my world, I will think about what to do next (after cuppa', Charlie Chan movie, and a workout while watching). The plan was to do all the Christmas Feast shopping today and get enough to have variations on a more or less traditional Christmas meal for five or six days. The new plan, if one is needed, will be to stay indoors and gobble up as much food as possible from the freezer so I can clean it and stock up again later. This is practical and frugal and not nearly as much fun as the feast.

My unusual Christmas decoration fell off the door twice, more or less quietly. It was intact after that. The third time, it FLEW off the door! Hubby says that components of the attachment piece separated from each other and the pieces flew so far away that he cannot find all of them. Two pieces broke off of the decoration and he found one of them. Weird. Combination of strong natural wind and human-made indoor heating? Some other odd thing? The important thing is to remember why I chose a reminder of seasonal and Christmas purposes. Those never change, and they are always with us.

This morning's almost-60 degree temps will be gone by bedtime (thanks to a cold front, it will be in the 30s by bedtime). I got my walking in while it was still nice, which included picking up a prescription and finishing the Christmas food shopping. I drove to Aldi and parked the car, then walked to Walgreens (about a quarter mile away). Came back, got the Aldi things, then put them in the car and headed on foot to a local grocery chain (again, about a quarter mile away) to finish up. Back at home I joined Hubby on his lunch time walk and can call my exercise done.

Other than that cooking ans straightening. Tonight will either go to a concert at church or watch the stream of it

I don't care about reviews. I liked it!

@HonnyBrown.. I am watching the same movie today. It has been a long day after elapsed time problems with my 3rd grader and some phone shops..Just wanna relax.
For some reason, I got two Amazon packages that I did not order. I did some research on what to do with them. I called Amazon - rather they called me - I told them about the boxes. They said I could have them. I wonder what's inside... I'll open them tomorrow. Surprise, Surprise.
My son has been receiving Amazon packages addressed to various people who never lived at the house. Contents have been cheapie dog toys (he has no pets), blow up neck pillow and light bulbs among other things. Amazon did not want them back and very telling was that there was no vendor name on the bill of lading. His assumption is that the addressee will be giving rave reviews of some other product by that vendor and Amazon will deem them to be from a 'verified customer'.
Sending Jackie Lawson holiday e-cards, long a tradition of mine. Listening to holiday music on the local public radio station that is all classical, all the time. You can access their programming at weta.org, then click on "listen live." Kitchen clean-up. Watching our very rainy part of the newest winter storm develop. Baking either a pumpkin pie or cranberry nut bread.

I have a friend who exclusively uses Jackie Lawson cards. They're always beautiful.

Finishing up last minute items for tonight's dinner and tomorrow's meal. Trying to make the day festive and not think about how there will only be two of us gathering. Church tonight.

We left a card and a small present for our mail carrier today. She is a lovely lady. I just finished all my phone shops since the stores close early today. Will wrap up some presents. My little one is hoping Santa will bring a toy train for her and she is rightsmiling smiley
@shopper797..Do let us know what you get. On my recent grocery pick up from Whole Foods which is now through Amazon, I got a bag of bread flour that I did not order. I called them and they told me I could keep it.

In a series of a surprises, I got a letter from Adsense Youtube a couple of days ago. They want to pay me $650 for some videos I posted a lifetime ago. My account was disabled for some reason but since it's been more than 7 years, they have to pay me whatever revenue the videos earned. 4 lousy videos posted years ago and $650. Not bad for a Christmas present!
'Twas the day before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring except for me and my mouse... Seriously. This is a quiet and wonderful day. Lovely seasonal music is playing softly, I have a new book that is getting better as the pages turn, and all I "have" to do is log off now, relax and enjoy the sweet day.

Went skating with Hubby. Now baking shortbread cookies. Baking a lot less, but want some.
We are freezing here in Chicago with flurries every now and then. Wishing everyone here a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope Santa brings lots of presents, peace, and joy for all of you!!
My two boxes had some beauty products in them. 2 brushes, scarves, gel, and a face mask. @Flash - It was weird that there was not a packing slip in either box! I did read online about the review thing.
@Mum That is so neat about your YouTube Videos! I am trying to start one of my own but find it hard to fit in the time.
Merry Christmas Everyone.... off to make cookies, grab some Chinese food, and wrap presents with my little one.
After both an exciting and exhausting 5 weeks of 9-hour days and 6 day weeks, our peak season is over and I get to look forward to a 3 day weekend.

Was Santa good to you? I certainly hope so. smiling smiley

Meanwhile, I found my phone. It was where I left it when I had to stop working on a project and check something that was cooking in the oven a few days ago. This morning, I returned to that project and found my phone.
