What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I believe I made it back home safely from California. Didn't socialize with anyone but family members for two weeks, and they are extremely caution about interactions. In the airport everyone kept away from each other, and our flight was less than half full.

However, out of an abundance of caution, after a quick grocery replenishment this morning I will quarantine for two weeks.

I never thought about using a CC for MSing! That's a good idea. All the cash back would really be like an extra bonus!!
Early job is timely. Yay. The rest of the day will flow. smiling smiley

Taking non-driving neighbor to grocery store and CVS drive-thru Rx pick-up. Finding the paperwork for the much-delayed (but soon due) emissions test for my vehicle. The laundry that did not happen yesterday.

Ordered magazine subscription for grandson. Drug all the boxes of Christmas things from the storage unit to go through and decide what to put out. Set up tree.

The CC I just cancelled, I got on a shop. It was a rewards card that I used for MS and other stuff. In 2 years, I got about $150 cash rewards. The card I kept, I don't get crap.

I like using a credit card for MS because I'm not touching my cash.

Love that! Meanwhile, for a few bucks you could get a serviceable diy kit- complete with salon-style electric tools. This is great for the budget but not nearly as much fun as the salon's color options, deep massing tub, and gossip. alas.

Because I am still sleepy, I also thought of the scene in 'Home Alone' where Daniel Stern's character is walking gingerly up the tar-covered stairs, having lost his shoes several steps ago, and puts his tar-covered foot on the point-up nail that could have driven through his foot and impaled him.

Not surprisingly, today is all about the longest possible nap before the night job...

Trying to put Christmas lights up on the deck. Checked two strands inside-they work fine. Connect them and wrap around railing. Turn them on, and second set doesn't work. Not wanting to figure out what bulb is loose, take it off and start with another set. All come on. Decide spacing isn't perfect and adjust second strand. Now it isn't working. AARRG!

Walking away from project until later.

Kathy,
This reminds me of the very first time that I got a printer, in the late 80s. After trying for hours to do a mail merge, I call HP support (free back then.) After hearing me out, the kindly tech whiz said that should do what he would in my shoes: I should go and lie down for 30 minutes, when he would call me back. I did; he did. We got everything working.

Taking a break is a wise choice.

After living in my house for almost two years and painting one accent wall in the living room, I have finally decided what color to paint my walls: black with vibrant art work.

Round two didn't go any better, so I took the lights off and brought them in. Before I put them back in the bin I plugged them together and tried the entire set in an interior plug. It worked there :-)

Hubby and I just finished bringing our Christmas decorations and tree up from down in the shed. Guess we'll be doing Christmas decorations over the weekend!
Work, more work, thrift store (great goodies! yay!), and whatever little tasks and projects I feel like doing.

Yesterday, I bought one decoration for the front door. I had not found wreaths that I like in my price range, and I was thrilled to find this unusual piece in my price range. I think it has possibilities for each person who has one: they could leave it as is, augment the doo-dads, stain it, add tulle, lace, or glitter for the wings, or... whatever their sensibilities suggest to them. smiling smiley I left mine plain but always wonder what it would look like with a little harp, trrumpet, or cherub...

Work, work at home, work out with... hmm... something upbeat.

Windy, damp weather; more leaf mold. Achoo ! Antihistamines conflict with other meds that are more important. So, not a fun day. I will probably finish on-line holiday shopping for Harry Potter and "Frozen" obsessed grand nephew and niece and then make something simple, like egg drop soup for lunch and dinner.

Side note: Grand-nephew Matthew has had to wear glasses since he was about one year old. Now that he has discovered (is an avid reader of) Harry Potter books (Matt is 8) he is blown away by the fact that Harry needs glasses but can do magic. I am sure that many other families have seen this with youngsters who need glasses from an early age, but it really came as a revelation.

@Shopper797 I am sure virtual teaching is tough. I just subbed in grade 2 for two weeks.
The teacher taught one class per day online because she is preparing for having to do that again before the year is out. Not easy.
I was feeling sorry for myself, because my self-quarantining doesn't allow me to browse the small-business friendly neighborhoods I like to patronize at this time of the year, but Hubby and I picked a neighborhood of historic houses to walk through. Tonight will be streamed church and carry out food.

Today was non-stop. I went to work at 6am so I could make an 11am hair appointment. She was inflexible with her schedule due to another client. That client cancelled while I was in her chair. After, I did a shop, went to Chipotle and did a wine run.

After years of shopping it, I had gotten pretty tired of Chipotle. and I didn't go there after they stopped being shopped. It's just been recently that I've stopped in and was surprised to remember the things I always enjoyed. I've started eating there again.
Sunday, therefore late/early job. Clean out the car, do three tasks, take a nap, and go to the night job. Booooooooorrrrrrrriiiiiinnnnnnnnng!

I came very, very close to getting a rofl taco!

I remembered the tips and tricks from the shops: "a little more" barbacoa, and something else.

I signed up for seats at Mass on Christmas Eve-our preferred time was almost filled up! Also experimenting with using a blender to turn white rice into flour and using it to make a sugar cookie. After lunch I will take a walk.

How did cookies taste using rice flour? Did they taste the same? Did you have to make an substitutions to the recipe when substituting rice flour for regular flour?
The recipe I used was a bust. The proportions were off, and the dough spread out too much. I don't know if it was a matter of not enough flour in general or because it was rice. Either way, I don't have enough rice or desire to try the experiment again.

Sleep all night (no early job today). Errands, lol at self. I am so old that I remember the old school way to perform the night job. Apparently, there was some techie glitchy thingy happening that prevented the modern way of work on my computer. I kept it going. I must say this: the new method is about a thousand times less stressful than the old way. It is also easier on my wrists (especially the right one), which are still healing. Meanwhile, I have an unexpected opportunity to visit a couple of thrift stores. Can you say, pants in the next smaller size are calling my name? I will need them soon. Go me.
