What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I packed up a birthday present to mail to DIL in Houston. Nothing business about the project, but I still weighed it to see if it was between 1 and 2 pounds...and then added some newspaper when it was a little light :-)

Other than that, opened up windows to enjoy the 72 degree temperature.

Home from voting in small town America. No violence here (yet, anyway). Politically, we are pussy cats as compared to other, well-known areas. This is the upside of here. The downside of here is the small population which does not give the state a singular voting advantage that makes you sit on the edge of your seat and bite your fingernails. Or, maybe that is the upside, too. No one is able to rouse too many people in rabbles, rumbles, and other nonsense. grinning smiley

Dumpkitty. Hmm. If it were edible, it could be Dump Cake. Does the kitty suggest a more descriptive name for themselves? Newbie. Nuevo or Nueva. Who were the kids in 'The Pinballs'? They figured out how to deal-- eventually.

We got COVID tested at work and got our results back in 2 days.

prince, how is Dump Kitty? I'm happy he gets to stay a few more days.

Taking my car to have someone read the codes telling me what problem the "check engine" light indicates. If it is a warranty issue, the nearest warranty service place is 10 + miles away. Moreover, I need to know whether or not it is safe to drive there of a tow will be needed. This has been a trouble-free car. Stay tuned.

ETA Just found out that an item I listed on Ebay, that had 4 prior low ball offers sold for full price, with buyer paying shipping. I have printed the label and will drop it off on my way to the mechanic. If I need a rental car while mine is in the shop, this will pay for that.Maybe I can snag a shop and make that rental a business expense?

What would your business expense criteria be?

Our test came back in under 24 hours! First time took a week. Still required to isolate until 14 days after the exposure. Technically, I could isolate from Hubby and I could go out. But, staying home is fine with me.
Kathy,
If I need to drive to earn a fee, the cost of that, whether mileage for my vehicle or the cost of the rental vehicle is an expense. If my vehicle is unavailable for 2 or more days, I would rent a vehicle.

I love Wednesdays because we don't have face-to-face instruction. I'll work on lesson plans and complete my health care choices (last few days of open enrollment). Then, one fast food shop for dinner.
Isolating. Did some cleaning in office. Barely made a dent in the disorganized mess. Bleah.
Enjoying the beautiful Second Summer weather by taking a walk. Maybe even a second walk with Hubby after he finishes working.

Work, errands and home.

Work, lotsa' more work, and clean out the car.

Monitoring vote counting while I continue to sort, clean, move living room, office area, dining room table. Store luggage out of sight. Sign contract for concrete work to add a step to front stoop next week. (Sidewalk has sunk so much that the last step down is now a "doozy." Doing a little "cooking ahead."

Today's walk was to the post office to mail a package for DIL's birthday. Will drop off a couple of boxes of supplies to a friend who needs them for a meeting this weekend (and take the long way to enjoy the fall leaf color).

Work all day, notice the need for a nap, but finish the work.
Starting tomorrow, there will be time for a nap after all jobs. Go me.

By then, we might have a sharper picture of election results.

My Mom sent me a care package with winter coats, gloves, scarves, and a Philadelphia Eagles t-shirt. My Mom is awesome!

Regular Philadelphia Eagles or the Joe Biden Eagles?

Work. The only extra work consists of endless house tasks at home. Hah!

I am partial to bald eagles and golden eagles and the other natural creatures. No offense to the humans, though. Recently, a golden eagle swooped, landed, and (I swear!) gave a nod. Mind you, I am not Native American or otherwise attuned or entitled to anything special regarding critters. I am just a person who felt wildly blessed when this beautiful bird came into view and elevated my thoughts.

Very, very carefully wrapping a vintage teapot and its lid for shipping. Once I lowered the price a bit it sold for the new list price. Reorganizing the coming week. Grocery and wine store with non-driving neighbor. Waiting for more election results. Finishing (I hope!) the office/living room reorganization.

Honny, that is so cool! Moms are awesome! I miss my mom. She died back in 2001. But whenever we spoke on the phone, she would always say, "Hello, my darling daughter." I miss that to this day.

Make sure you support the handle. That's the easiest thing to break in shipping. We stuff it with paper or packing peanuts then make a V with a piece of cardboard to wrap around the handle. I've filed 3 insurance claims this year. I have filed 1 in the last 20 years. USPS has been rough with packages lately.
Speaking of teapots, my birthday is coming this week and my clueless husband asked me yesterday what I would likesad smiley( So, I gave him a hint about my fondness for tea and all things tea. He ordered a rose tea cup set for me. It won't be a surprise but I am just happy getting a pretty tea set.
SoCal,
Thank you for sharing your experience.
All of my dimensions used to estimate shipping costs are for containers large enough to "handle" such issues. And I have plenty of bubble wrap, cardboard tape, etc, to construct proper nests for delicate things.

Some pantry reorganizing. Snow shoveling, got out my X-country skis but didn't get on them.

I thought so too. I shipped a very light weight cruet set. I actually was able to double box it, and they still broke it. I could not believe it!

Our government (my work) is under a mandate to recycle and reduce, so all of the divisions save me their boxes and packing materials. I have a one car garage that I dedicate just to shipping. On occasion I end up with so much I give a bunch of it away to people that are moving.
Day One of a two-day business meeting for an organization I belong to. Sat in my office from 9 am until 6 pm with an hour break for lunch. At least I got to feel the nice weather coming through the open window.

The usual: Work, work at home, take a nap, and go to work. By this time next week, I should be farther along in my seemingly endless project world and be able to go directly from work to nap to work. That is how it should be!

Bach is not noise, Madam. (Robert, in Two's Company)
SoCal, I have found that I have two boxes that I can combine for the teapot. The smaller one will be cut down to protect the handle and the larger one is large enough to permit the item and that protective cardboard shield, to be heavily swaddled in layers of bubble wrap. But, wouldn't you know it, the Ebay function that prints labels is down this morning! And, I have two packages ready to send.
