What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

prince, are you going to keep Dump Kitty? I hope so! If, of course, Pampered Kitty will allow that.

Today was the Nissan dealership to figure out why the tire pressure symbol on my dashboard keeps coming on, the flu shot I did not get yesterday, and the bank to get cash for a shop tomorrow.

I found the perfect teal lamp for my room! I bought it online. Hope it arrives soon! I need to clean my desk, fold some clothes, cook pork chops for dinner, a Zumba class, and hopefully in bed early.
No, we don't want to keep it. Pampered Kitty is not happy. Though he sat on my lap today. And he spent a while in the house. Usually he is in and out all day. Yesterday he sprayed the garage door when I brought him in and left dump kitty in garage. Then he spent the whole day in the garage glaring at kitty. So, he has adjusted a bit.

I put an add on Freecycle for dumpkitty, neighbour posted on FB. I put a sign at the post office, and called a rescue. They might have a spot in the shelter on Wednesday. If I find a home, I am supposed to ask lots of questions and not just give it to anyone. She told me some horror stories, Sheesh, people.

It is obviously a pet, it is just so friendly and used to people. We only have one neighbour within 5K and it is not hers, so I don't think it wandered over here.

Aw, I hope dumpkitty finds another good home.

It seems purrfectly obvious that Pampered Kitty might be experiencing only-kitty syndrome. Why else would it have such animosity toward a stranger?

Meeting a contractor at my home this AM to get a price for repairing (raising) the sidewalk where it meets the front stoop. He will be in the neighborhood doing a ton of common area renovations in early November and so can do nice deals on home owners projects that would be too small to get the attention of any real pro at other times. Sooo glad our HOA manger negotiated for this to be part of the services so that we can all have reasonable prices for our small fixes !

Then, reports for yesterday's shops and a quick trip for a pedicure and Aldi for supplies.

Relax until merch time. Might have to quit the night job because I missed the mandatory testing. *oops*
I asked for a leave of absence and a new time frame to begin the mandatory weekly testings. If they agree, this is okay. If they do not agree, this is okay. I forgot that an automatic investment should be counted in my end-of-year goal. All is well, regardless of the outcome. Love this!

Prince,
The contractor came right on time. He understood what I wanted to achieve and provided two possible solutions. I stuck with my original idea (whicj was also one of his solutions) and he will email me a detailed bid. His verbal estimate for framing and pouring an addition step was "about $100." It was all so quick that my coffee did not even get cold.

We have a really excellent HOA board and they tend to pick great contractors. No HOA horror stories here in over 37 years.

I made bread in my bread machine. I started it yesterday. It's not easy to make but it was my first time. Next time will be easier. I made honey whole wheat. smiling smiley
Today I am (once again!) supervising my middle school student's online work. This is getting old.
How does this happen? (I do not have an online middle schooler. Do tell... }

Day 2 of cold, rainy weather. Ran a couple of errands, then walked at Home Depot to get some steps. Spent too much time on the computer. Made dinner. Blah!

Shop-et-al, our school district is still closed down for middle schoolers and high schoolers. They don't expect to restart until second semester, which begins in February (save me!) The kids have Chromebooks and the teachers hold classes via Zoom. Ms Middle Schooler is growing quite discontent with this situation as she is the outgoing, social, music/dance/volleyball type of person. I have to assure that she is online when she should be, and that her work is getting turned in on time and with more than just minimal effort. It's a pretty frustrating situation for all involved, but it is working....after a fashion.

I am currently trying to locate my 8th grade algebra teacher, so I can tell him I did have a use for learning algebra after all. To teach it to my teenager!

A very big part of school is social norms. How are kids achieving that?

You use algebra a lot more than you think.

The older kids are basically having an uprising against the social distancing/mask wearing rules. They congregate in parking lots and local parks. Of course, many of them have younger siblings at home, plus mom and/or dad. There have been several outbreaks of 8-10 cases of Covid that were traced back to parking lot gettogethers. As if being a teen doesn't already have its own built-in set of worries, they now have this to contend with.

When I moved back in January I lost the belt rack I used as a necklace hanger and the large piece of burlap attached to the wall I put my earrings on, and the new closet doesn't have room for me to install anything. My earrings were in a tackle box, and the necklaces have been bagged up since then-not that I've had a reason to go anywhere and dress up :-)

Yesterday I bought a second tackle box for earrings, and realized that I could probably use the same ones for necklaces. Went back and got two more.

prince, how is Dumpkitty doing? The capital "D" means I am officially adopting him for this thread.

Tonight I am streaming "This Is Us" because it was so good.

I picked up my 32" LG TV after work. I put the Samsung in the guest bedroom and set up the LG. Later, I am going to connect both LGs to Alexa.

Dumpkitty is warm, fed and has a bed in the garage. Which is where pampered Kitty also sleeps. He's got a cat door and has always been free to go in and out. All day, we let him in and out.

Pampered Kitty has started to be affectionate to us again. And will spend the day in the house without spraying now!! I only cuddle Dumpkitty when pampered Kitty is not looking. So Dumpkitty is lonely.
Our Kitty is not an alpha, and Dumpkitty takes Pampered Kitty's bed. So PK is not happy.
Dumpkitty really really wants to be a cuddly house cat so she cries to come in the house but haven't let her. Two shelters are full. Have a couple leads on homes, though.
I don't know how people get cats to get along!

My daughter who is in 3rd grade now attends classes through Google Meet. Even when she was attending school in 2nd grade, I used to teach her for about an hour or two everyday after school. This (virtual classes) is not much different as a parent except for the fact that I get more time with her every day. She is anxious to go back to school but sometimes, she does say that she has more free time. I am learning a lot too. Having done multiplication with the classic method, I learned the Lattice Method of multiplication recently apart from many other things that we learned differently in our time.

Bonus: I learned to make a bat with a toilet tube roll today!

Reading Texas Roadhouse's Q3 earnings report (released today).

I am a super nerd at this stuff. Can literally spend hours upon hours through the night reading earnings reports and jotting down notes. Cup of coffee or can of Orange Vanilla Coke and I'm working through 'til early morning!
When I lived in Kansas, someone brought a box of kittens to work and I took one home. Bones was not pleased. I locked them in the bathroom before I went to work. When I came home, they were the best of friends.

We are getting torrential rain all day and tonight as Zeta moves north. I would need a canoe to get to my DC shops. That will make tomorrow and Saturday a "do or die" situation for shops in DC.

Sooo, today I have no excuses. There will be a major kitchen clean-up, for starters. Will also use the frozen bones and scraps from a recent roasted chick to make broth. That will also use some of the frozen veggies from the "save for soup" bag. I also need to do a ton of filing so that the end of the living room that serves as my office can be reorganized on Sunday and Monday to accommodate a large screen all-in-one computer that will arrive around Tuesday. I will collect it at a Whole Foods about 30 minutes away rather than have it delivered and sit on the open front stoop. This is a very safe neighborhood, but better safe than sorry.

Work. Skip nap and do more work.

If there were a cat whisperer, they could commune with Pampered Kitty and newbie kitty. meanwhile, I feel for both kitties. Newbie came on suddenly; Pampered had no advance warning of this incursion. Newbie wants some lovin'. Pampered had no way to do a background check or otherwise examine the motivations of this invader who, for all they know, will steal even a smidgen of affection from the resident humans. Poor darlings.
