What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I could do yard work, or house work, or read, or call people with whom I should be keeping in touch.
Or knit, sew, cycle, walk or paddle. But I am stuck in bed, mindlessly surfing www. And watching the first Good Witch.
At least I should read an article about motivation LOL

LOL! I worked, napped, and whittled down my task list to four errands. It's time to roust my sleepy butt and go do them...

Working the regular job, takeout pizza for supper, feed the chickens, watch the birds, watch Person of Interest Netflix, go to bed. I miss mystery shopping. I did 3 in April and 4 in May, all Sonics. I think it will start picking back up in July or August.
Sometimes we need days like this!

I did business with the Got Junk company. We had an old riding mower and a few other odds and ends I wanted rid of. Since the mower died behind a storage building years ago, it had not been an eyesore. Over the years, it camouflaged into an interesting planter. Various plants and vines found their way through every crevice, even the cracked seat.

I didn't accept their estimate and countered. A call was made, and my price was accepted. Junk is gone now, and for a fair price.
I just heard thunder. More rain! Happy plants!

If only thunder meant rain here!

The only time I used the company was on a shop and had to take the price they offered. I didn't know that they would bargain.

Hubby and I took a bike ride after work. We brought our dinner and had it in a park about 7 miles from the house before we turned around and came back home. The park is open, but restrooms are closed and water fountains turned off.

I never did the shop. On my own dime, when they provided me with pricing and an estimate, I was willing to only pay their minimum. It was substantially lower than the estimate. When they quoted me the estimate, I thanked them and refused it. All said and done, maybe they didn't make as much as they would like, but they did not leave empty handed.

Work. Trying to stay awake. Everything else depends upon staying awake... or not... zzzz...

Chilly, cloudy, windy but no rain.

Countered an offer on one far away job. Glad that I haven't heard back. Didn't really ask for enough to want to go.

Today I worked at the grocery store as a personal shopper. I planned to go to WaWa across the street for a lunch sandwich, but my employee discount had a $0 deli sandwich. I took that instead.

Made a drive to my favorite oil and vinegar shop to stock up on balsamic. Left with three bottles, which should be enough for almost a year. After church Hubby and I went to a restaurant for dinner and felt very safe. Lots of social distancing, all staff wearing masks, and we had to read the menu on our own phone instead of getting a traditional one. On the way home we tried to walk at the mall and decided it was WAY to unsafe.

I have a 3 vertical tube bird feeder with a top and dish under. It needs refilling about every 2-3 days. No birds were visiting even in the breaks between the rain storms so I went to check it and refill. It has rained so much here that the birdseed has sprouted and each tube has become a little garden. When the rain stops tomorrow I will rinse out the tubes and decide whether it makes sense to refill since the birds obviously don't want the sprouted stuff.
Today is grocery shopping, laundry, and other housework.

Hurray, it rained! And is still drizzling. Coffee by the fire.
Then housework, as tomorrow will be mowing and weeding.
Baking?
Roast chicken dinner for Sunday.
Love the local birds! Here, bird feeding involves a few rules. 1) The large scavenger birds will eat anything! 2) The small birds do not eat certain foods, and if those are mixed in with the feed, the little cheepers will peck around and kick out their actual food along with the unwanted bits. 3) If you feed, give the small birds only what they eat; they will get more of it and not lose any to the ground/scavengers.

Meanwhile, I worked and schlepped heavy stuff. I galhandled that craaaaap into some semblance of order (well, less bad sprawling mess) and I sorta' feel like a Rosie the Riveter after that. *flexes muscles; fetches heating pad for back*

I've already had my breakfast outside, done two loads of laundry, listed eBay auctions, so I'm considering ironing for a bit.

No weekend getaways is getting old here.
Good beautiful Sunday everyone. Late brunch poolside today. DH bought bagels and veggie cream cheese. Up at 5:30 AM today and deep cleaned my kitchen. Tonight, Mom will hold a cooking class with DD's. Her broccoli with chicken is to die for. Tofu with bean sprouts, garlic and ginger over Jasmine rice. Return to work for me tomorrow and am ambivalent about it. It's sure to be strange. Can't wait for my 'Zoom' boss to hold needless, looooonnnnng painful meetings. Hope you all are doing well.
The county where I work opened non-essential businesses. I am getting my nails done tomorrow.

Work, more work, and still more work. Take a load of stuff to storage and end the day with back care.

Honny,
Please let me know via PM if you find a place where it may be safe to get a pedicure down that way.

My son asked me if I would be willing to have a 30-minute Zoom chat with three year old grandson every morning this week (to replace the preschool calls that ended last week). I'm going to give it a try, but given his short attention span I don't know if I have enough topics. Any suggestions for virtual activities?

Perhaps you can have your son prepare the child so that he has drawing materials at hand, a favorite toy to show and tell about. If the child watches Sesame Street, I would try to tune in to it so that you can chat later about episodes/skits, that you have both watched within the last day. Same goes for any other educational programming that he might watch.

Also, having music yo move to, together, might be a good idea. He can show you his dance moves and visa-versa. Try being the "library lady" to read small stories or nonsense poems to him.

Does he like Build A Bear and LEGO's? LEGO has games and interactive stuff on their website for kids and Build A Bear has some kind of special kids club activity on Wednesdays. I've never done either, but my elementary school age niece and nephew do both of those and are enthusiastic about them.
If you have any kid books around, read him a story and show him the pictures as you read. Teach him a song like Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle Twinkle etc. Show him family photos if you have a photo album--especially photos of him as he has been growing up. Ask your son to give the child a couple of celery sticks, some raisins, some peanut butter and a butter knife and teach the kid how to make 'Ants on a log' and of course save one for Daddy.

If you have access to the public library, that was the age that my kids adored rhyming books like Seuss "Fox in Socks", "Green Eggs and Ham", "One Fish Two Fish" and non rhyming with beautiful pictures like Sendak "In the Night Kitchen" and "Where the Wild Things Are"

Before you end each session, tell him what you want to do next time and if he has been enthusiastic, ask if he is looking forward to it as much as you are. Send him kisses and ask that he share them with Mommy and Daddy from you. Find one positive to praise him for, but don't overload the boat--he sits still so well, he learned the song so quickly, he drew such a nice picture for you, etc. Tell him you are excited to visit with him tomorrow.
Hubby's birthday is coming up this week, and then Father's Day right around the corner. The past few years, instead of presents we have given experiences. However, with most everything still closed or having restrictions I am at a loss. The only thing I could think of that he needed was some five-pound hand weights, but when I went to the sporting goods store today I found they are all sold out.

Try Amazon. Pair in a carry case for about $18

Even more fun, in a Zoom session teach your grandson Happy Birthday if he doesn't know it and 'let him in on a secret' that his Grandpa's birthday is coming up on ________. Ask if he would like to draw a picture for Grandpa's birthday and you will make a special call to let him sing Happy Birthday to Grandpa and show the picture he drew for him. That gets a 'lesson' and an experience together as one.
