What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

We were predicted awful weather but at the moment the sun is shining. I am debating a run to walmart before the truly awful gets here because we are low on tp. I probably won't go. I have tons of laundry and dishes and floors and all the usual things that stack up when I'm doing a lot of shopping. I'll do that today and maybe a little reading. I'm debating what I should bake as well. I have a can of pumpkin to use, pumpkin bread? Pumpkin pie? Leave the pumpkin and make apple cake with a butter sauce? I really don't eat desserts. I just like to bake. My spouse and friends love that about me.

Appointment with my Allergist, which hasn't helped, but another try. Reality office to pick up papers to sign,
return at T.J.Max, bought a sweater yesterday which makes me look like a fuzzy overweight ball. Pick up some good rolls for my turkey burger tonight, and since house is clean, walk later, maybe read at the pool, weather still in the 80's.

I live in the subs where weather is always nice...but tomorrow temp. will go down to high 70's. Hearing about freezing cold blast weather in Chicago, have a bit of guilt, but.....L.A.'s good part is it's weather.

That darned lake effect snow. I live below lake Erie (about 40 miles south). As long as the wind doesn't blow down directly we should be okay, 1-3 inches expected tonight and 1 inch tomorrow. Ugh. I am sitting in my pajamas, been a lazy morning. It's going to start raining and turn into a wintry mix by late afternoon. But, I do have some shops to do, so I will go out in it. I hate tracking around in slush.
Making cranberry-walnut bread; kitchen clean-up; locating sidewalk "salt", snow shovel and windshield scraper; carefully planning the 3 do-or-die shops that must be done and entered tomorrow, in spite of afternoon sleet.

Today I am tediously plodding through the reading required to make informed decisions regarding our employer-provided health, vision, dental and life insurance. My husband's company was recently sold to a conglomerate, and the formerly excellent insurance coverage is now a hodge-podge of okay to awful choices. Still, it's better than doing without!
Talk about health Ins., so happy to be on Medicare. I have the best Dr's., with no co-payment. Will be getting laser surgery on my eyes Dec. 5th, and cost is zero. The Dr. was with U.C.L.A. Jules Stein eye clinic for years, before going to United health (AARP owned). I have had so many different problems, and have called my Dr..
same day, and he see's me next day, always caring and concerned. The good news about aging if any of you wonder. Some are not on my plan and Dr's. are not this good. I found my plan on a work seminar and was recommended to my Dr. Thinking with Trump's health plan, things will be worse for many......but wish all the best with their health care.

The early job (which usually starts at 1 AM or 2 AM) is incalculably late. The highways are closed, and no one knows when work supplies will arrive. Potentially, some people will not finish their early jobs before their regular jobs begin and we could pick up extra work. The better thought is that I can go back to bed for awhile. grinning smiley

*eta* Someone just called, wanting us to help with their work. We can do that if supplies arrive...

Our home selling inspection is scheduled for 8 this morning, much earlier than I'm used to getting out of the house, so I will take my breakfast with me and eat it in the car. Since our agent told me it could take four or more hours my plan is to go to the gym, kill some time, then do a Shake Shack lunch/shop before I go home.

8 AM?! Sluggard! j/k. it sounds like the sale process is moving along smoothly. (I did not say sailing. haha.) Seriously. 8 AM is an excellent time walking in the soft late Springtime sunlight and critter watching. It is the opening time for some (not all) office supplies stores and a good time to start the jobs there. It is too late for the best fishing in certain spots, according to the hubby.

Papers to read about house and disclosures, many pages nowadays. No errands, home most of the day and dinner at my fav. BJ's tonight, working up an appetite.

Going to visit 2 friends in different hospitals. One friend, from church, works at walmart and fell Tuesday (yesterday) and broke her leg below the hip...she had been hurting and scheduled for a back MRI today to see if that was involving the leg/hip. My other friend, my bestie....with whom my sister and I had lunch just last Wednesday....had to have emergency colon cancer surgery and have 12" resected yesterday. Plus...there had also been a small perforation in her colon....which means you-know-what had been slowly leaking out into her abdominal cavity! Going to see both of them today.
@Irene_L.A.,

Why do you feel like going to an allergist isn't working for you?

I only ask because two of my kids and I go to an allergy doc. We've been getting the allergy shots for nearly 3 years now, and I think it's working, though not as well as I had hoped. Three years is a lot of time to invest. And I've paid $150/month toward the treatment (AFTER the initial $1k) for all three of us. So not only is it a lot of time to invest....but also a lot of money.

We get allergy tested again in January to see if there are "improvements."

I can say that I can go into houses with pets now and that used to be impossible for me. Not that I don't still get sick....I do get runny nose/itchy eyes, but it's not so sick that I end up in an ER as it used to be

So I guess the treatment is "working...." but I'm not so sure that it's working WELL...especially for the time/money investment
I live every day with puffy eyes that sometimes water, and a runny nose. I am glad I haven't been hospitalized over it, but whenever I get a respiratory bacterial or viral infection, it's miserable. OTCs don't work well for me, though they help some. I have often thought about going to an allergist. I guess I will save my money based on what others have said.
Jill....my allergy is to dust only, and where I live, my complex as well as my town is full of trees with blowers going, and pollen being blown everywhere. My house is also dusty and I have 20 foot ceilings that gather dust, which I can't clean daily, hence, eyes also dry, have tried everything, drops no longer work, same with pills.
My sister once did shots, very costly and didn't work (they don't always work), so I decided against it.
They came out with a pill three years ago to correct this, however Ins. didn't pay for it, and cost was 300.00
per month....good news from my visit yesterday is, pill is now covered by Ins., so next Monday I have to re-do tests to see if I'm still available for them. When I go to San Francisco or Chicago, eyes don't bother me, as the
city has no trees to speak of. Never had any allergies prior to moving up here, and it sucks.

The first frost of the season came last night. I got my peppers and tomatoes off of the plants, but left a succulent outside. I brought it in today. I hope it survives.

My living room Fire Stick TV was replaced with an LG Smart TV that's not so smart. It only has a few apps. I'm going to get a Fire Stick from Amazon on Black Friday.

Irene, I get styes during allergy season. I had surgery one year to remove it, and after the scars healed, it came right back. Now, I use a topical allergy medication on my eyelids. It helps some, but they still come back.

I am having eye laser surgery (I mentioned it), and basically it's for my Glacoma (eye pressure), hoping it works, big problem off my head, and have not driven freeways due to all the eye problems...plus my eyes are so dry, mascara does nothing but cake,....never gotten a stye.

Since I traded my paycheck job for mystery shopping I move much slower in the morning. My alarm goes off at 6:30, and two hours is enough time to eat breakfast, read the newspaper, give the kitchen a once over, and fiddle around on the computer.

Colonoscopy. Whole30 compliant meal. Merch. Sb boring! But tomorrow will be better. I will have an eye exam and get new glasses. We will talk about trying contact lenses again.

I"m anxiously hunting for shops which have mysteriously dried up around here. I've lollygagged around the house for 3 days and that is about my limit. I'm going to either have to clean something or make some money and I choose money.
Also I have to make a little grocery run and get a haircut.
Coffee, library, straighten house and Mimi's for an AARP seminar at 3:00. No jobs I want to do for the pentance
they are paying, so, two jobs all week does it, but lots of computer stuff will be done. OMG, watching the news, one dead at our local high school, very close to me, street will be shut down where my SB is, now I will be home watching news.....

Finish a crochet project, make a couple of ms phone calls that have only a few minutes worth of report time, try to gather my courage to go into my teenage daughter's bathroom to grab her laundry basket, do the stupid laundry, then goof off until dinner.

@Irene_L.A. I live about half an hour from downtown and less than an hour from W. Loop. Northwestern is one of the leading universities here. Your daughter must miss CA in the winters. The weather here is miserable. I have been waking up everyday with a headache for the past couple of days.

Yes, she told me about your "early winter" and blast of cold, she has been working at home, saying it's too cold to go out. I wanted to move close to her, but with my Arthritis which is seasonal, not doing it. The good news is she doesn't have to deal with our freeways, living a mile from work and taking Uber everywhere. Next time I visit, probably Mothers Day, would be nice to meet. I was there for my B-day end of Aug thru Sept. and weather was 76ish and great....walked to the new Fulton Market area, had some great food, not shopping, kids took me out.

Home watching news as my town had the high school shooting, feeling so awful, school is three miles from me, and town is devastated...we are the third largest suburb in L.A. county and one of the safest places to live, not anymore. Gunman shot himself in the head after killing two and wounding 6...my wish is for him to live and be responsible for his actions. Not feeling like doing my health seminar today, but won't cancel.
