What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

So I found a way to feel good about myself (but not to look good while doing it). I had to wear walking shoes to merch jobs today. I swelled up after a few really yummy (salty) restaurant meals. Now, the feeties are rebelling! But they made it through three far-flung locations and are good to go for one more day. Then, the entire ol' bod is on vaca for about a week. We need that time for stringent low-sodium living...

Today was a fruitful day at work. At lunch, I went for a 45 minute hike in the National Park across the street. After work, I noticed that I was low on gas. Instead of taking surface streets home (1 hour), I took the freeway. I was home in 30 minutes, and it was smooth sailing.

Kathy, My son has done the same thing in the past! Except it's boxes and binders and cases of baseball cards!! He also has other mementos here, which are STILL HERE!! He's taken several boxes & binders of baseball cards back home with him, but there are still THOUSANDS of cards here, in binders, boxes and bins!! They never really leave home in some ways, do they? smiling smiley

Ditto!!! Ditto!!! Ditto!!
Speaking of kids never leaving home...my daughter is now 44yrs. young and I still have her gorgeous prom dress, sweet 16 B-day book of a luncheon we gave her at a then popular restaurant in Woodland Hills. I ask if she wants them, and it's a hassle getting it to Chicago, so Mom keeps the memories, it's really for me, she does love to look at it when she visit....the past is always with us.
Today another day at home watching the news about the President's inquiry for an impeachment......interesting.
Just awaiting my Dr.'s appointment Oct. 9th. for date of surgery. Going to make some avocado chips, dinner's cooking and I will do laundry later.

In my position, I support the ground stations for the NASA antennas around the world. I was on a conference call today, and my boss introduced me to the Alaska team. One person from the team said that I should visit the location in January or February to evaluate hazardous conditions. YIKES!

I am in the middle of nowhere, on the way home from merch, and loving a vast vista of
pale sky, faintly golden Autumn grass, and greyed green Autumn scrub. This is so mellow...

Honny,
Go for it! A paid trip to Alaska! Even it my age, I would be all over that!

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Guysmom, At some point one of the (three) boys culled through the thousands of cards they'd accumulated over the years and tossed most of them. I think what he took had sentimental (as opposed to monetary) value.

Irene, will your daughter's memories be moving to your new house with you (whenever that may be)?

So, the mellow late afternoon became a sad evening... While there was still a bit of daylight, we saw a deer sitting on the opposite lane. I was fairly certain that it was not taking a nap on asphalt, and I insisted that we turn around and check out this [decoy? injured critter? off the wagon/wall/whatever decoration? pleezpleezpleez let this be just a prank?]

The darling had a broken leg. They could skitter on three legs to the opposite side of the road before flopping. After a little rest, they could push up and turn themselves a few degrees and flop again. Unexpectedly, an ATV drove past and called for a dog. The dog obeyed summons and took a little time to nose the deer, who pushed up, skittered a few feet farther into the tall grass, and flopped. I called. The sheriff came. The deer died. I cried. I posted. I wanted a gazillion dollars for critter safety measures, for wild critter rehab (is this even possible?), and for I dunno what will make this better, or at least prevent it from happening again.

actually my contract ended, so took the house off the market for awhile, awaiting my surgery, and will stay here till next spring.
I'll never be able to give her prom dress away, worn once and gorgeous, certain things have meaning., but if someone needs it, I'd be happy to know it was worn again. I have shoe boxes full of beautiful, funny and meaningful cards that make me laugh and cry, seeing how she's grown from the first years of college to now, definite role reversal happening.

Today I need to travel about 20 miles to get a new EZ-pass transponder. Fortunately, MD recently made them free. (Just the transponder, not the tolls.) Then mani-pedi, RX refill. laundry.

I am staying OUT of DC today because protesters will be shutting down more than 20 main intersections.

On this day in history: people were afraid when the first passenger train reached... are you ready?... a whoppping fifteen miles per hour! There are more tidbits, but why spoil all the fun. grinning smiley. After the little history lesson and a 'deer for dummies' style of self-guided tutorial, I am ready to travel through the same space where sweet darling was, on the way to.personal destinations. The Inner Perfectionist would like to Stay At Home And Sort Stuff. The rest of me is on the road and having a little fun. grinning smiley

I know just what you mean, Irene....I still have my son's K-5 graduation cap and gown!!! And he's 31 years old!! Good grief, mama girl!! (that's me!)
Honny, how're they gonna keep you warm if you go to Alaska In Jan/Feb??? Wonder if they'd put you up in an igloo....now THAT would be an experience, haha!! Anyhow, on the serious side, it would be quite an adventure, wouldn't it?? Would you go?
So I rummaged around on the internet for about thirty seconds and found out that Alaska in Jan/Feb can be interesting: lights, camera, mush! Apparently, the Aurora Borealis is visible from a few places, and you can go dog sledding. Do the dogs like the lights? Inquiring minds want to know.grinning smiley

@HonnyBrown: where would you be within Alakska? Would you have free time to enjoy anything outside of work?

Bach is not noise, Madam. (Robert, in Two's Company)
The job will pay for the PPE (parka and other cold weather gear).

While I look forward to the new experience, I do not look forward to the drive. It's a remote location at the top of a mountain.

I would definitely go!

Jas..Avocado, I use two mash add Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning, which I won't use, can add red pepper spice if you like it hot. Bake in oven 350% for an hour or until it gets crisp.

Irene, I am going to try them also. I eat an avocado weekly for the health benefits.

Shop-et-al, I will MAKE time to see stuff outside of work! I am looking forward to trying the seafood.

Later today, I have a Meetup at Goodwill. I racked up when I went in March. Then exercise, hair and homework.

Today cleaning out my bedroom amroire as it is being sold tomorrow, I sold it on Facebook Marketplace for amount I asked for...happy to finally get rid of it and will move my nice desk to that space. Running around, Sprouts sale and whatever else, but mostly house stuff. and resting with movies.

The Goodwill Meetup was awesome! I got a bunch of clothes for work and some odds and ends for the house. Because it was a Meetup, we got a 50% off coupon.

After that, I dropped my Alexa TV off at the electronics recycle facility. I had to do that for the warranty. I hope they give me a refund and not a replacement.

Besides the usual, I'm trying to finish remodeling the bathroom, a task that has proven to be at the top of my DIY skill set. I don't know what I'd do without YouTube, where I have learned how to put up drywall, move electrical outlets, take the gross textured ceiling stuff down, replace the faucets on the sinks, and take out a shower stall that was about the same size as my desk. I've been working on this task for a couple months now, and I am SO READY to be done with it.
All blood and hormone results came out normal last week. Gynae has no idea why I missed my periods. She says if I am so concerned, I could take a birth control pill. I refused and she looked at me like I was an idiot. She also said that I could get my period normally now since Provera could have kick started a normal cycle again.
Jas/honny....avocado chips = failure...OMG they are awful and didn't crisp, just forget about them.
