What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I continue to get the house ready to go on the market (hopefully in the next 30 days, although the handyman the realtor recommended isn't returning my call).

And, in what I consider a miracle moment, I was just assigned a junk removal shop! Phone call this week, visit early next week. I don't know if we'll just have them take enough to stay under the reimbursed amount or consider it a down payment on the whole thing but either way I'm beyond excited.

Kathy, I also did the junk removal and will be moving, I found them very expensive for removing two large items.
The quoted me $306.00 with 25.00 off for a first time move. Hope your pricing is less. Today is dental cleaning.

I was surprised also since I have Kaiser. They do everything in-house, and HRT would have been out of network.

It was not until the end of my exam that she offered yams and beans as alternatives.

Today is homework, housework and cooking a seasoned pork roast in my red crock pot.

I just finished mowing the entire yard. Now I'm eating chocolate ice cream because I feel entitled after that. Now to decide what kind of take out I want to make the wife go get later for dinner, and make a shopping list for my special "powerballs" to take with my to my next spiritual get together. One of the facilitators always brings snacks and she's clearly a health nut which is right up my alley. The powerballs are almond butter with a bunch of dried fruits, dates, and nuts mixed in. They are shaped into balls and then I roll half in vietnamese cinnamon and the other half in coconut. They are very delicious and one gives you energy for hours. I like to make a batch and put them in the fridge. They will last me a couple of weeks. I could probably subsist entirely on them and green juice. Wow that would be a killer diet. I might try it.
I'd like the receipt without the nuts....sounds like a great pick me up.

I was a little surprised (and disappointed) to find out just what my reimbursement will cover However, every little bit helps. I got permission to ask what the pricing levels are during the phone call and will plan accordingly.

Yesterday I took the blades off of two ceiling fans and sprayed two coats of white paint over the dark finish. They looked great in the basement, so I re-attached the brackets and brought them back upstairs. In the daylight I could tell they are NOT ready! So now I have to disassemble everything again and give them another coat.

Kathy, due to my removal job, I got two other junk movers mail and they are less expensive,
so, some good came out of it.

Went to see the movie "Ready or not". It's a dark comedy but very different. Loved each minute of it.
CoffeeQueen, I also would love to have your powerball recipe. It sounds delicious.

I received a curious ICA reprimand. I say curious because the MSC was named, but never the client. I'm have no idea why it was a violation.

It is cool, overcast, and almost whispering. I can practically hear the day's soft invitation to join it for 'new book and lemon water'.

Delighted with two tops from thrift stores. They fit, they pair well, and they will follow the seasons with a layer or two over top if it becomes downright cold. Wondering about jeans from a thrift store. The tag said size ginormous. They covered me when I held them up to me in my other jeans. They are from a brand known for standard sizing. But when I attempted to wear them, they did not reach my hips! So, I will pay full price or wait for a sale for my best go-to brand. I had promised myself: "No more unplanned donations at thrfit stores that do not do returns!" But these jeans were really cute... and, I learned my little lesson. Cute is as cute fits. Take that, Aesop! Or not.

The powerball recipe is not really a recipe. But I will attempt it.

Chop about 1 cup of your choice of nuts. Note, if you are allergic to nuts you cannot simply leave them out because of the almond butter. You can't eat this.
Now back to the nuts. Any nuts will do, and if you like lots of nuts put in more. Once I used an entire bag of cashews. They should be unsalted or just lightly salted or the salt will overpower the dried fruits. I prefer roasted cashews.
Chop 1/2 cup each of dates, dried apricots, dried cranberries and cherries. These are the ones I use. I have done it with just dates and apricots and it was still delicious. The sugar content of the dried fruits is up to you. Read the label when you buy them.
Now dump a half a jar of almond butter into the food processor. I use a 16 oz jar because that is what my food processor holds. dump in the nuts and chopped fruit and give it a whirl. Add the other half of the jar of almond butter. I do it this way because I want to make sure I get all the fruits and nuts in there and if there isn't enough space for all the butter I don't have to put all of the second half in. Give it another whirl for a few seconds. It should be well mixed.
Now scrape the mixture out into a bowl, cover with foil or saran wrap and put in the fridge for about 15 minutes just to start firming up.
Put about 1 cup of finely shredded coconut into a bowl, and a 1/2 of powdered sugar into a different bowl. Add 2-4 teaspoons of vietnamese cinnamon to the sugar and mix well. It seems like a lot of cinnamon but it's so mild and delicious. If using regular cinnamon just use 2 teaspoons.
I use a melon baller to scoop out a serving and I shape it into a ball with my hands. Then I roll it in either the coconut or the cinnamon.
Put them into the fridge to firm up. You can eat right away but they taste better the next day.

The only added sugars in this is whatever is in the dried fruits you buy, and the tiny amount of confectioners sugar.
Here's an interesting factoid: tree nuts and nuts are not the same thing, and peanuts are actually not nuts, they are legumes.
Thanks CQ!

Today I have a follow up inspection at the repo lot. I have to take one picture. After that, two friends are having a prewedding reception, so I'm going to that. I hope I don't forget their gift.

Continuing with the new book (it is good!) and the lemon water regime. Actually, I have lime water, which is effective. Fortunately, we have a little store here that carries real lemon in a glass bottle. This is not re-constituted, and there is no need to cut little wedges out of the citrus fruit. Easy peasy lemon no squeezy!

It's in the 70s today and after a 2 week heat wave, I'm as happy as a clam. I've already walked on the beach and went to the farmer's market "downtown" (I live on a 5 mile island, they call the center downtown even though there is nothing downtown about it lol) and bought a beautiful bouquet. Now to trek gallons and gallons of water downstairs to work on my Garden Tower.

It is also a beautiful day here. I have done the one lonely shop I had and finished the report. Now I shall start attempting porch clean up. It's an embarrassing disaster. Freddy Kreuger would be proud to live on that porch. And it's freakin' huge. You know those old house porches you drool over even if you have one? It's one of those. They are great but if you let it go for even a minute, DISASTER. I've let this one go all summer. Too busy and too hot. That's my story and I"m stickin' to it.
The pre-union wedding celebration I went to was absolutely beautiful! A lot of people showed up from the church I used to attend. It was so good to see everyone. Afterwards, I went to Total Wine, did a wine tasting and bought my regular Bota Box and two new red blends (bottles).

The early job will be late, as it has been on Sundays. Oh, well. I had time between midnight and 2 AM to finish a few projects, gaze at other, looming, unfinished projects which will remain like that until next week, and play on the forum. Still no word on when work will begin. So, I can logoff, finish my little early morning workout (it is always gentle!), and read more of the really good book.

Coffee at SB with friends, looking for a new and improved coffee maker, I'm behind times still using my French Press, tired of the mess. Still hot, so home to pack for my trip Wednesday, seeing my daughter for my B-day, been 6 months, can't wait. She usually
meets me at the airport with a banner, welcome Mom...so cute, and weather will be a perfect 76ish.

I did my exercise walk before church: 6:45am. It wiped me out. After church, I did a shop. I came home, did the report and took a nap.

I had a 2nd interview via phone on Friday. It went really well. I really hope to hear something positive this week.

Irene, I love my French Press. To me, coffee is more about the experience than it is about the coffee and that's why I use that exclusively unless my boyfriend is here for the weekend. That being said, I got a Braun for when there's 2 or more of us. It's awesome because it looks kinda fancy, but it cost about $60 and you can specify what boldness you want, what temp you want, etc. I love it.

I do love my French Press for a good strong cup of coffee, but wanted something easier and bought one today...anxious to see how the coffee taste....it has a hold button, and will hold for later, so I can have iced coffee, and a water filter. Got it at Kohl's on sale and had a 30% off coupon....

The beautiful lime water requires no coffee maker. Hmm.

So today is for lime water, lots and lots of work, and early to bed.

Easy.

Laundry, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming. We have a never ending supply of doggy hair. I thank god for the new breed of vacuum cleaners that will suck it up without complaint. I love my Shark.
Allergies!

I ran out of Zyrtec last week. I couldn't find my Claritan so I went to BJ's to pick up a year's worth of pills. It hasn't kicked in yet.

Honny, have you tried local honey for your allergies? Works great for many allergies.

Early job is early. Woot! After that, I work with more of the plants, clean something, and go to my little new-to-me merch job. It sounds like a mash-up of a merch and a shop. But whatever! The important thing is to try new types of gigs.
