What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Listening to my daughter singing Frasier's theme song "Tossed salads and scrambled eggs" over and over again. I will never get tired of it. The way she says "Frasier has left the building" is hilarious. I tried the brown rice pilaf in my new instant pot. Turned out great. I have a pressure cooker but it just takes a long time to cook brown rice.

I made brown rice in my Instant Pot today, too. I like to cook four cups of raw rice at a time and freeze the cooked rice in small containers.

Hubby & I have been up in Orange, VA, since Monday, going to visit several historical sites. Man, this is gorgeous country up here! It's been a wonderful respite! Tomorrow we're driving down to Brookneal, VA to visit Patrick Henry's memorial place, and then we'll head home on Friday. But then.....next Monday we'll head down to Charleston to stay near my oldest step-son and his wife's place, since his son, our 12 yr old grandson, will be flying in from TX to spend the week with his dad. We haven't seen him since he was 5 years old! (The pitfalls of living so far away!) So we'll be down there for just a couple of days. These are the perks of being retired!!
Some people do apartment shops. I browse Zillow. One hour on site gives you an apartment shop. One hour on Zillow gives you as much structure history as your eyes can handle! Seriously. The other day, I "visited" all kinds of places! One thing led to another, and I had a little history lesson along the way. There was not report. There was no test. There was no shop fee, but that was not important.

Before I can browse properties, I must work and clean something.

I'm platinum!

I have Olaplex in my hair right now. My goal is to wash it out at 7:30, then shampoo and tone.

I had a taste for Popeye's, so I went to the drive thru and got a kid's meal. I think they were trying to get rid of some food, because I got a lot more than a kid's meal. The cashier asked if I wanted any sauce, and I told her to surprise me. She gave me three of each.

I haven't had Popeye's for years! My taste buds seem to have changed; I wonder if it would taste as good to me as it used to.

I love Popeyes red beans and rice. Everything else is meh. It's okay. Sometimes I just swing through and get the large red beans and rice and take it home with me and eat it for a couple of days.

Today is mowing day. After about 10 days of blazing heat the grass is as high as a cat's @ss, as my father would say. It will take all day to get through it. It's thick, lush, and 10 feet high.

I shall throw some flank steaks, garlic and half a jar of jalapenos into the crock pot for burritos later. I usually chop a tomato after it's finished cooking and completely shredded and then mix it in. Yum!
I had a taste for chili today despite the hot day. I put a chicken breast in the crock pot, shredded it and added it to the bean tomato mixture. It's cooking down now.

My house smells so good.

Trying to configure the most efficient work days. One project date changed, and I have an opportunity to work a little smarter (potentially). In a perfect world, the early will be early when needed so that I can leave home earlier and add shops to each work day. In my world, this so rarely happens that I guffawed at my silly notion of efficiency.

Youngest Son had a car accident a little over a week ago. His car was only worth a couple of thousand dollars, so the accident did it in. He has a list of requirements for a new car, first of which is a manual transmission. They are difficult to find, and today I listened as he made phone calls and looked through websites in an ongoing search.

Tonight I will get together with a group of women while our husbands play poker.

I bought some pretty houseplants this week. I repotted one and put both in my bedroom. I did the bulk of my final exam paper. I'll submit it tomorrow.

The balcony pea plants died off. Since the soil is rich in nutrients, I started some squash (I know, not the season) in the kitchen windowsill, and will plant those when they sprout. I'm also going to try carrots.

Honny,
Carrots need a very sand soil to thrive. Enjoy !

Updating a "house rules" agreement before sending that off to the new housemate. Creating a list of "Important and Semi-Important Things to Know About the House," for same. (location of tornado shelter in house; things the garbuerator will not tolerate; which mailbox is ours; trash and recycling day, etc.)

Read, clean bathroom, mow , pull weeds. Finished a report and downloaded a voice app for tomorrow s recorded shop.
Mani/Pedi while open house is taking place....OMG it's hot, who would look at houses when you can go to the beach?

Gathering up stuff for a merch assignment. This is a lot of stuff!

Happy about good labs: nothing wrong except a stubborn Vitamin D3 issue. I had to change products. Perhaps a liquid will help, whereas capsules, tablets, foods, and sunshine have not helped.

Binge-watching old episodes of The Hardy Boys. One of them featured Patrick Macnee!

I'm doing laundry today. I'm also conditioning my hair and looking at sandy options for my carrot seeds.

I finished the final whatever for the term, and will be looking at paint options for the living room.

You can just mix sand into your potting soil. Anyway that is what I used to do. Also peat moss is great for all soil.
Today I'm doing errands, picking up needed items at the store and hoping someone calls me for a badly needed last minute shop they are willing to pay big bucks for. Hey... I can hope, right?
Middle of the month grocery shopping and cutting the grass.

Errands. Must get Ace bandages (these cost much less than the compression products that I tried. I knew within seconds that it was epic fail when my eyeballs bulged and I looked like a toon). Must get batteries and remember the receipt in order to be reimbursed for a merch task.

Would rather stay home.

I broke off some shoots from my house plants a few weeks ago and they have gotten nice big roots. So I went to Lowe's and got potting soil and four pots, all were on sale and all are gorgeous!
Also, took my kids to the summer movies that they have for kids. It was "Sherlock Gnomes." Too bad I dozed through most of it...looked like a cute movie! The new chairs in the movie theaters that recline and are big and cushy are just toooo comfy smiling smiley smiling smiley smiling smiley
Said goodbye to my wonderful renter, will really miss him...he bought a house and I wish him the best. Errands, bought some goodies home, still planning for yet another open house Sunday and my trip to Chicago the end of the month, can't wait, get to see my daughter and meet her handsome boyfriend...smiling smiley
