What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

A few years ago, we had a fire in our washer! Good thing we were home. Couldn't get the door open; husb just unplugged it.

Could never get that door open again. And it had my water resistant mattress pad (because I was pregnant and have babies really fast and with little warning) and half of my maternity clothes.

Today, though, I took my daughter to the movie theater to meet up with a boy....*sigh*

They watched Men in Black. She swears it wasn't a date. He paid for the popcorn and movie tickets. She paid for sodas and hot dogs later in the mall.

I asked, "Did you guys smooch??" and made smooching noises....
"No," said my daughter.
"Did he try to put his arm on your shoulder?" (No)
"Did he rub your leg?" (No...and good thing that didn't happen)
"Did he try to hold your hand?" (No)

"But," she said, "He told me that I'm the nicest person he's ever met...."

He's right. She is
Today is schoolwork. I have an interview on Friday that will have me out of town for the weekend, so I have to get the assignment submitted by tomorrow.

Not so much here. Enough extra work to provide a mild outdoor workout and cover the cost of a tank of gas. Loving yet another book.

We went to Tulsa today , I did one shop . We went to the Goodwill and one other store like it , I find a lovely white lace top, a pretty china tea pot and a vase I need for a fair project. My son got two new black tops( one of his favorite colors). We had a early supper out the guys had hambugers. and I had a Mona Costco so good. Jeff was hoping to meet up with a old friend but that did not work out.
Had my visit with my oncologist today...am 5+ years post-mastectomy...all lab values, physical signs and everything else still look great!! HE CUT THE CORD!! WOO-HOO! Of course, he said to come back if I ever have any concerns. AND......NO MORE ARIMIDEX - HOORAY!! Glad to get off that medicine!! It does indeed do a great job, but there are more side effects than I care to think about!!
Nothing glorious. Glorious is for guysmom's fabulous news! Just the usual here: work, more/more/more work, and errands. Today, we travel an hour to get ginormous planters for our huge,root-bound darlings. We had an opportunity recently at a thrift store to pick up a few used, ginormous planters. But... we missed it... and, we hope that someone else's plants are happy there now. Ours will be happy and all over the place soon. They will basically 'take ovah' da' joint', but what are we to do?grinning smiley

Morning brings coffee with friend who son is having baby, getting married and buying a $ 900,000 house, she has a lot to talk about being a Grandma at 72, very happy. Today also brings looking at a 55+ place to hang my hat for awhile, and again Firemen coming to continue checking fire sprinklers in house. House officially went on market, keeping it clean for weekend showings.

Live consciously....

I'm eating leftover spaghetti for breakfast, soon going out to weedeat the lawn because it's rained so much a mower won't get through it. That will take me a couple of days off and on. Later this afternoon we are going to babysit the grandchild so his dad can go to class. No shopping!
YAY!!!!!!!

We booked our vacation for Cancun through Costco. Great deal on an all inclusive package. It's for November since friends have been telling me it would be much better if I go in winters. For July, we are planning to go to Kentucky to see Mammoth Caves again and then off to the Smokey Mountains. I just love that little town of Gatlinburg.
More weed eating today. It's 93 in the shade so I made egg salad and a pitcher of green tea with fruit in it. I hope to clean the bathroom as well, if I can move after working outside.
I made it to Delaware and checked into my hotel. I didn't do a shop because I need to prep for my interview tomorrow.

After the interview, I'm headed to my parents' for the weekend.

Still doing grandma duty in California. Yesterday DIL was induced, and approximately 12 hours later delivered two perfect little boys. (One was 5 lb 5 oz and the other was 5 lb 10 oz.) Hubby and I got to visit with them today in the hospital after we took 2 1/2-year old big brother to day care.

Work, more work, leg work, and housework.

Then, I get reading and porch time. Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhh......

Unloading freezer into insulated bags. Then helping housemate drag freezer out onto east facing deck to defrost. Later, reverse process. Doing final walk-thru after other housemate moves out. Handyman is coming to strip and re caulk tub in basement apartment. finish 3 reports. Grocery and RX trip. Cooking for the week ahead. Laundry.

I got there at 9:30. I let the receptionist know I was there for an interview. At 10am, someone told me that the interview had to be rescheduled.

I was pissed. I ended up coming back home.

If the HR folks there are that inconsiderate, I might have second thoughts about working there. YMMV What bummer !!!

Very true wales, my thoughts exactly. The HR dude sent me an email a few hours later. He said that he had been calling me since Tuesday. He apparently doesn't know that cellphones keep call logs.

I sent him a screenshot and asked him to clarify.

The early job was really the really, really, reeeaaaaalllllllyyyy late job. After that, and because of humidity which makes me mush, there was the grocery store (not a shop) in which I (now with several decades of grocery shopping experience) had to look, and search, and seek, and make a few grimaces and moues (to avert full on blue streaks in a public place). You see, the common item I needed was not in a logical place. I found it when I was in the middle of a brilliant (if I may say so myself) new mystery shop theme.

What do you think of it? Every time a store rearranges things, they should be required to publish in print and online the new setup. hey could even put up new directories for the new arrangements. Then, we mystery shoppers and auditors can check their work. I don't know how much we should charge, but we can consider this: The longer a shopper is in a store, the more likely they are to buy impulsively or compulsively. Is this also true for mystery shoppers who might be in-store longer than they prefer in order to complete mandatory tasks?

So that is enough about that.

Now, we should put the saved blue streaks up for HoneyBrown's situation.....

BLUE STREAKS

Packing up for the upcoming trip. Watched Mary Poppins on DVD today. Halfway through, when they all broke into a dance and song for the eleventh time, my husband said "Kill me, kill me now."
I went to church this morning. Then came home and did laundry. Just woke up from a nap. Now laying in bed dreading work tomorrow ahhhhh sad smiley lol
