What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Carl's Jr. for lunch, then library to find an interesting book and a day of awaiting tomorrow (Mother's Day) when I get to Skype with my daughter and catch up...now that she's got a boyfriend Mom needs to step back, so tomorrow is my hour of delight. Talking on phone with best friend who is lucky enough to spend the day with her daughter...holidays are tough...sad smiley

Yes, I do this too, every year. Seems like on my street of 22 residences, I am the only one who has ever done this! I don't get it. It's for such a good cause! Today is quite rainy, so I tripled bagged my items in 3 plastic bags and then put then into the blue postal bag that came for the donations. I wish more people did this.
I put a few things into a collection bin at the post office, which was open for a few hours today. This is an option that some people might consider for the next drive.

I'm finishing up my final project for school. I will submit it tomorrow.

I bought a sweet basil kit early this week. It's already sprouting. It's sitting in my kitchen windowsill waiting for some tomatoes.

The tomatoes and peas in the containers are getting huge. The tomato seedling in the K-Cup is still tiny.

The window sill bell pepper is not growing. Time to start over.

I will have to look into this if the weather is nasty next year. As planned, Hubby took our boxed goods with him to his volunteer shift. He said there were SO many cardboard items that had gotten wet and had to be tossed. A real shame.

Bummer about the good thought and the wasted food. At "my" post office, the food collection bin was inside the lobby. Bin and food remained dry. This always works well in my little town. If other post offices have sufficient space, they might provide an indoor space where items are sheltered. We can always hope, right?

So the early job is late again. Starting at 3:30 am is too late for us to complete our work before the deadline. After that, we have extra work and more extra work. All of that will be late. Oh, well. What can we do? We do not control the start time.

And, back to Sunday stuff. This one is Mother's Day for some people.

I have three shops today but that is fine my son who lives close is working until nidmight . The other thing Iplan to do today is just rest. I get a good MOther's day gift my son who lives far away get to come home from the hosptial yesterday.
I have a new 10 ft hall runner rug. I need to cut a non-skid pad to fit so that I can safely deploy that rug. And, since it has been stored and shipped tightly rolled, I expect I will need to put something heavy on each of two corners to help it to "relax". I am looking at two heavy, square vases, each full of rocks; that should do the trick.

Next, time to make the paella that did not get made the other day. Finally, the deadline for applying for the senior citizen (large) property tax abatement is approaching. Time to ACT on that.

Today "Mothers Day". I'm going out to breakfast, hanging out, then doing a Ralph's, late afternoon brings syping with my daughter, can't wait to see that beautiful face and catch up.
She is sending me a link of a lecture she did on Emotional Intelligence, and having a great sense of humor will make me laugh. My proudest job was raising her well. I love we still send cards, a tradition since college, always a hand written note and a great memory, texting goes so far.

Yes, that is good news for you! We all hate it when our children are sick or ill or going through some sort of difficulty. Glad for you, Alieda!
We went to my mom's house last week. For some reason, I am the only one she trusts to dye her hair, so I did that and gave her a present for mother's day. Today I cooked for the week, made bison chili for dinner, blueberry, bananana, and pecan protein pancakes, and split pea soup for my husband to take for lunch.
Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers, stepmoms, aunts and mentor moms!

I spoke with my Mom today, as I do every week. She enjoyed the cards I sent her. I love her to pieces.

Finding motivation for a job. Now that I know about the Os Guinness books, I think that I could get through a few shifts of the job as long as I knew that the paycheck could get me good copies of that author's books. 'Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to work I go...'

Errands, still trying to get my Skype on my phone working, AT@T, Lowes, errands, car wash, back to normal.
My daughter made a movie with her boyfriends help who works in the film making/music industry. ...so funny,
started with my high school graduation, pictures of fun times and at the end the "joys" of aging" with music and captions, hysterical, so creative.

Big Mother's Day bash at my sister's. I took my other sister who is now living with me (early onset Altzheimers). There was lots of family, the weather was perfect, and it was a lovely day.
I am still recovering from the movie that I saw yesterday. Had a movie shop so we decided to see "Ugly Dolls". I wanted to run out of the theater 15 minutes after the movie had started. Well, the car wash shop was more entertaining for all of us than that horrid movie.
I am doing everything that I neglected to do during my final.

Yeah, I just read a few minutes ago where Ugly Dolls is the largest flop of the movie season so far. Supposed to be a pretty terrible movie. Sorry you had to sit through that!
I got the blue plastic bag in my mailbox. I filled it with canned goods, including pet food. This was actually the first time I heard of this effort.

in previous years, the bags were brown. Right?

Anyway, I am looking for my copy of An Exaltation of Larks. For some reason, I wondered what a group of mystery shoppers is called. That book won't give us an exact answer because we are not critters. But it could inspire an idea...

I'm looking out my window at a bluebird sitting in the top of the tree. I'm planning a route and texting with a friend. Later I'll go do a mini-grocery route which should take care of the groceries for the next two weeks.
I saw a lot of beautiful, colorful birds this week. The days and air were gray and bland. The birds added color.

I used one of those darn "BOB" shops to get a giant bag of bird seed and set it out on my front and back porches. I'm between a lake, the bay and the ocean, so there's tons of shorebirds which I love, but my favorites are the tiny wrens and the mourning doves that are always out there chatting it up at the feeders.

Shopping the South Jersey Shore
Our "best" bird food is expensive and contains only what specific birds eat. These birds do not kick anything out of the feeder, and they get all the food. Other blends contain ingredients that are rejected. The rejected food feeds scavenger birds who have plenty to eat and do not need more. However, we have not been feeding the specific birds lately. Their population is strong. They spend less time near the feeder, and other birds have moved into the area. All are welcome, imho.

So it is Wednesday and the early job is late-ish. For only our work, the timing is good. For extra work, the timing is not good. Oh, well. The good news is that I got up super-early and did a lot of house tasks before work. The other good news is that I have time for a much-needed nap later.

Today is an early shop, then waiting for UPS to deliver a big tv whenever they want. I will be prepping my living room for a major paint job.

Yesterday and today are drying-out days for the garden, after 3 days of torrential rain. My teen garden assistant will come for an hour after school to do some heavy work, like spreading topsoil and working in dried manure//moss mix. Then I can split up more Asiatic lilies and replant them, plant 2 new blue hosta and, maybe, some annuals. So besides doing laundry, kitchen clean-up, and tidying, I need to make another un to Country Boy for soil, plants, etc. I have more than enough shops booked for the rest of the month to meet my goal, so I can take a day for house and garden play.
