What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I agree. Get it in writing.

I'd get something in writing from the IRS before I relaxed. Otherwise, 5 or 10 years from now, you might open a letter that reads: "Back in 2019, you kept an overpayment of $800 that was not returned to us. Calculating interest and penalty fees, please now remit $25,000,000.01 to us within the next 10 days!" ... Not that bad, but still, I'd get something in writing from them if I were you.

We did get it in writing. They emailed us and will also be sending a letter by post.
One of my shops today is 1 block from a favorite local Tex-Mex restaurant. I will walk there and get 2-3 kinds of enchiladas to go; not with sides, just the ala carte enchiladas. I have beans and sauce and cheese and guacamole and chips at home to make 2-3 suppers from this.

A taco truck on every corner ? Bring it on !!! Well, maybe every other corner. That would leave some space for a halal truck, a kosher truck, a crepe truck, a pizza truck, an Ethiopian truck, and a variety of Asia trucks, etc., on alternate corners.

Good! Now you can relax....and go have a good time with that unexpected windfall!!
Tonight is the Citizen Cope concert!

@guysmom we are planning to donate half of the money to The Children's Hospital in Chicago. The other half can go towards our Cancun vacation in July. I do agree it was an unexpected windfall. The only other time I got lucky like this was when a survey company decided to pay me after 7 years. The money came in December and it was like a nice Christmas bonus.
I stopped shopping for several months due to personal circumstances and a death in the family. I came back last month and haven't stopped running since, until today. There were a lot of bonuses out there waiting on me to pick them up! I cannot believe how busy life can keep me when I'm trying to accomplish something. Anyway, hello mystery shoppers! Today I'm mowing and practicing with my camera. I'm having a hard time getting it straight. It kind of wants to point sideways. Of course it doesn't help that I have no idea what I'm doing LOL. It's trial and error.
Hi CoffeeQueen! Welcome back. So sorry to hear about your loss. I'll be playing with my camera later also. I'm taking a photography class this semester. We had to choose a master photographer from a list provided and write essays about them/their style and also produce photos that mimic their aesthetics. I chose Imogen Cunningham because I love the close-ups she took of flowers. I went to the store today and purchased an oriental lily. Now if my cats don't photobomb me....

This has been a strange week. Because I'm leaving town for Easter and son's wedding on the 27th I did not schedule any shops. In the time I would have been completing jobs and doing the reports I've cooked and restocked my freezer, did yard work, and other things that I normally don't get around to. I could get used to this!

Tasks upon tasks upon tasks! Clean out, clean up, clean off,.. and there is much more to do. This is good. The porch is nearly ready for lollygagging and reading. When the temperature reaches my comfort zone, I will be on that porch!

I've only done 6 shops since around mid Feb., because we were immersed in so much stuff as of late: a move, trying to get two rentals turned over (one of the people who was in a rental called me to tell me that they were moving out~and breaking their year long contract~ on the DAY I closed on a new house. I nearly had a heart attack! lol); trying to get taxes done (and digging through packed boxes for necessary docs); trying to deal with some of the subpar workmanship in a house we purchased (writing letters, dealing with the warranty dept., and such); and dealing with a funeral. I also know I'm not going to do many shops in the next month because we are leaving on a vaca on April 30.

So I was hoping to be doing LOTS of shops in April, in order to have some money hitting accounts when we get back from our trip at the end of May...but the best laid plans and all that....

But...I picked up one on Saturday. A quick and easy one, because I feel like I'm not ready to do intense shops at the moment, which is actually the BEAUTY of MSing...do what you can when you can/want to! I really wanted to have my house "all put together" sooner than this, but I suppose it's okay. Every single box is unpacked, but there are a few things remaining: curtains on the powder room window and on kids' room windows; some pictures to still be hung on walls; a little bit of painting....

All that aside, @walesmaven, enchiladas sound scrumptious!
Citizen Cope put on an amazing show last night! He's an independent musician and the theater was close to capacity. It was so good to see so many fans! He did his best songs from all of his albums, including the one released last month.

Enjoyable!

I've had so many calls from schedulers today that I've been "lollygagging" except for a couple of little errands. The good news is I have next week and the first week of May almost fully scheduled now. I like knowing that money will be going in the bank.
Am programmed for various jobs for the next little while. I am not attempting as much as I did in the past, and this is good. There will be money and time for lollygagging & reading on the porch, helping the hubby to implement his new vertical space storage project, and going into nature.

Well, it's been 3 weeks since I began learning the "Theme to Perry Mason" on the piano. I've gotten it down pretty well....all 3 pages of it!!! I don't have it memorized yet, but at least I can play it pretty well now with the sheet music. I LOVE those discords!!!
As long as I don't get thrown out of court for saying so, the theme music by Fred Steiner was called 'Park Avenue Beat'. So now we need an expert witness to tell us about the name. Will Irene please take the stand? *Irene takes oath and swears* Irene, is there any Park Avenue in the LA area contains a Park Avenue? *objection. relevance.* *overruled. connect, please* Your honor, the Park Avenue Beat sounds like something from New York City, whereas Perry Mason lives and works in California... New York City?!?!?! Oh, wait, .That is for an old Pace ad.

But seriously. I knew someone who worked out the Peanuts music all by themselves on the piano keyboard. I would bet that you can play the PM thing by heart soon!.smiling smiley

Today brings two Kroger's and a fun day in the darling town next to me, browsing at Marshall's, home to do reports and some patio cleanup and re-planting.
SEA...no Park Ave here, maybe it is New York, my streets have Authors names like "Canterbury Court" and such, so inventive and LAish. My daughter can read music, but is too busy to help out.

Work. Nap.Work.

Irene, maybe you could register to be an expert witness for LA, or something. Expert witnesses are paid decent money.

Nice, but my ex was an expert witness in Real Estate, he had a college degree from USC (no his parents didn't donate 500,000) ..and a business for 50 years......good try. Living long enough, you acquire much to much information.

LOL about the degree! Anyway, I have been here so long that I am practically a native! When I got here, I explored everything. Later, scads of painlessly acquired info was useful for all kinds of things. Others have been here longer than I have, and they would be first in line to be expert witnesses for this area. But I am pretty close... grinning smiley

Today was homework. I have a midterm project due tomorrow.

Today is shopping for groceries and cooking something to reheat for the next few days since I will be super busy. And I'm old as hell so that means I'll be tired and cranky LOL. I'm considering a pan of lasagna which would easily last 2-3 days and put some bbq chicken in the oven. Maybe grab some Bob Evans mashed potatoes and some coleslaw to have with it.
Doing another Kroger's today, yesterday I picked up a pre-cooked chicken (job), and had chicken sandwich on a fabulous grain bread, tonight will be chicken/black bean Tostada with avocado/sour cream, all gotten on a job.
I'm picking up some Vodka and tums today. Rest of day will be playing around, staying out of trouble and talking to my kid to see how her Passover went. Having one living so far away has you always thinking of them.

Mom turned 85 last month. I'm happy because she was in and out of the hospital so many times last year I was getting scared. She is doing much better this year but she's a little under the weather today. I'm making Ginger Carrot soup for her. It's a blended soup and what I like about it is I can sneak a scoop of protein powder into it for a nutritional boost for her. Win Win!

Spent time with mil. Helped her with a few things and pampered her as much as she permitted. Prepped vehicle for its upcoming detailing.

The potted peas on my deck are starting to wrap around the the wooden rails. The potted tomato is still growing. The windowsill salad plants that are now on the deck have thicker stems that support the weight of the leaves. The K-Cup peas are sprouting. The K-Cup tomatoes are just peaking through the soil.

Last week, I used a mini bell pepper and saved a few of the seeds. I planted them today and put them in the windowsill. I hope they sprout.

ETA: I also have an onion scrap growing in a glass on the windowsill. I read on the Burpee (remember them?) site that onions are good companion plants for tomatoes. The windowsill onion will go into the tomato pot this week.

Hubby and I were at the Easter Vigil last night when my DIL-to be entered the Catholic church (in Dallas). During the homily their pastor referenced the New Cathedral in St. Louis and a town in Southeast Missouri, and after Mass we learned he is familiar with our church and knew the previous pastor. Small world.

Today we walked with the kids to a park where we ate Easter eggs for breakfast, went to a movie, out to eat at a Japanese barbecue restaurant, and finished up the day with rolled ice cream. We have to get up very early tomorrow for a flight to San Jose California.

The usual: work, workout, and whatever little tasks I am inspired to do today. Will do more tomorrow. Since I worked on my usual days off, I am declaring that today is as much like a day off as possible!
