What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I volunteered at a food bank this morning.

Yay! We are off the hook for the extra work and more extra work. Someone else wanted it permanently. Huzzah! The injured person is not coming back, so that might be a sad thing. *a moment of silence, in case that is appropriate*

LOL about the oil change thing. I should find out if the newer vehicle meets the mileage qualification. Mind you, it might not matter. The hubby does not like to have the oil changed as part of a shop because he wants to be free to interact as much as possible with the people who work on our vehicles, discuss related or additional issues, etc. He does not like that shop requirements and limitations sometimes result in restrictions on what he thinks he should be free to do, if necessary. So it's all good.

So, here is a way around this. Get it changed as a shop. Go back a few weeks later for free fluid top off, and have your husband ask whatever he likes then. Bonus, doing this would make you look less like a mystery shopper because you are not only going there for very specific oil change visits.

Thinking Jiffy Lube really knows what is going on beside the basic is silly...take it to a "real" mechanic for a check over, it's free, and if work is needed have someone reliable do it. Jiffy Lube is only for an oil change and in my case a free car wash worth 16.00+change. I've gone there long before shopping with no problem.

Snow and rain tomorrow Sunday, usually walk 4 miles on Sundays. I will be doing my TAXES! YUK!
I realized today that I need an oil change. I get them free at Nissan, but it's a long wait. I'm also due to get my nails done. If I had a cat, it would be envious.

Today my daughter and I are taking her Dad out to a music event which he'd have been unable to attend.
Then I'll introduce him to Sprouts which has the food he needs for his diet to slow down the Alzheimers.
My daughter comes to my house for the night, have my lox and bagels ready for tomorrow's farewell breakfast.
Time flies, but so great to spend anytime with her, next I'll go to Chicago for my 82nd B-day (G__ willing).

My all purpose copier/scanner etc. died last night. Costs more to fix than to replace. But, hey, it was 12 years old, and bought refurbished. Because it is a monochrome laser type, I saved more in ink-jet ink in the first year than it cost.

Ironically, the best buy and the highest rated MFP (multi function printer) with auto document feed is the very same model, refurbished! I often have to scan 24+ page documents to upload into reports I really need the auto feed feature. Dell MFP1815dn, monochrome laser, in case you are in the market. Industrial strength, long lasting, and about 1/3 the price of new competing models.

Meanwhile, my wonderful neighbor of 36 years is scanning documents for me until the "new" printer arrives in a few days. Crazy FedEx Office wanted $0.95 per page!

Today... I am going to spend more time dealing with the #@?! tree that fell in my yard in the snowstorm several weeks ago..... I should also grade some calculus test.

The early job... depends. How do you define early? For whatever reason, our supplies arrived three hours late and we started work three hours late. We can't just muster up some courage, shriek 'Andale! Andale!' and finish on time, like some mad and heroic little rats. No, no. That does not work for us. We are spread out all over the place. It just takes a long time to get to each place. So, we were late. The good news is that I hadn't set an alarm to get up extra-early, and I got a few extra hours of sleep. The other good news is that no shops were planned/missed/re-scheduled.

I was under-the-weather most of yesterday an spent most of the day (after passing two hours in the morning dealing with the tree in my yard) resting.... I woke up at 4:30, as always, today and felt like garbage. I called in and emailed sub plans in and then went back to bed for another five or six hours.... Drinking hot tea, downing Sudafed and DayQuil.... And I've got two shops scheduled for this evening. sad smiley

Today brought breakfast/lunch with daughter, she left Dad's house and we met...gave her her B-day gift and she liked it (no returns). She gave me a beautiful charm that says, "I love you Mom", we cried and hugged. She's at airport, I'm home feeling emotionally drained, spending time with her Dad after all these years was emotional, thinking about a stiff Vodka and Tonic.....smiling smiley

MF, hope you feel back to normal real soon! Glad you were able to rest today.

Irene, Yeah, my mom would always cry after my visit to see her. I miss her now. She passed away in 2001. Glad your daughter still has you!

I've always been hesitant to cook fresh asparagus because of it coming out all stringy and stuff. I've even had some BAD and poorly cooked fresh asparagus in restaurants! Well, tonight, I cooked up some of the skinny asparagus using a recipe I found online, and it was scrumptous!!! Best fresh asparagus I've ever had....anywhere!! Yum-Yum!! And SO easy!! Just trim off the bottoms about 3-4 inches. Soak in COLD water for about 5 minutes. Drain and pat dry. Boil for about 3-4 minutes. While boiling. prepare a pan with some EVOO and garlic (I used minced garlic in a jar, since that's what I had on hand. I also added a TBSP of unsalted butter to the EVOO). Drain and pat dry again. Then place in already-hot pan and add salt and pepper and stir around for a few minutes. Slide onto serving dish. That's it!! And SOOOOO good! Slightly crunchy but NOT stringy!! YUM YUM!!
Don't feel bad for MF. He's downing Sudafed and DayQuil. He is quite happy!

Today is trying to sell items online, quiet day due to my emotional weekend....looking for jobs in Vegas for my May trip, and healthy eating, plus changing my patio hose to make Homeowners happy. Going to watch the finality of the Bachelor tonight...oh, what will Colton do????

Work. Extra work. Errands. Gentle workout. Lots of rest.

Will watch at least a few episodes of something called 'Reilly'. According to the blurb, Reilly, derring-do and intense adventure were the basis for Ian Fleming's James Bond. I should fact check that, if only for giggles.

DD is out for her gym class with her dad. So, I will finish up Alfred Hitchcock's "Strangers on a train". Aunty Becky from Full House is on the news for admissions fraud. Makes me a bit sad. I don't think we will see her anymore on Fuller House.

She is also a main character on When Calls the Heart on the Hallmark channel. Can't imagine they are to thrilled with the allegations either!
I stopped into three different Walgreens trying to find the Shingrix (shingles) vaccine. None available, but at the last stop the pharmacist offered to put me on the list to call when they get some in...I'm number 200!

I just turned 60, so don't qualify for Medicare yet.

Library to study for my two bank jobs tomorrow and meeting close friend who lives between the two banks, going to an old wonderful Italian restaurant (not a chain), that has the best chopped salad on the universe...busy day tomorrow, today, keeping it low and slow.

We are having a heckuva storm. I chose to postpone as many errands as possible and stay home. At home, I can finish a new-to-me mystery, have fun with a Richard Simmons ('be proud of yourself, you're toning!) workout, and cook something fabulous.

Shops are available today, mind you, but I am waiting. If this storm goes away, and if the places I would walk are made clear and safe, and if some other shopper has not picked up these easy little money-makers. I will do them later. (I fell on ice the other day. It was nasty. My knee is lovely, though. I thought about mixing paints, creating an abstract perspective of the bruise and puncture mark, and selling it as an accent piece for an ultra-mod and darker toned room... but why waste a canvas. I do landscapes. That is my best use of a canvas. In fact, I got some new canvases today at a thrift store for much less than retail price. Such a deal!) *cheerfully plots the next landscape*

Just returned from library, got a new book I'll be reading along with my avocado/tomato sandwich on a healthy grain/flax seed bread...name of book is: ""ALL THE LIES WE TELL". by M. SKYE. Weather is gorgeous, winter finally over here, high 60's with warmer weather on the way. Cooking a pot roast in slow cooker, nice day, retirerment is a good thing.....

Getting ready last night and today to go up and spend 4 days at my son/dgtr in law/granddaughter's apt. So yesterday I did 3 loads of wash. Today I cleaned house, went grocery shopping, and made some special "black bean brownies" that have NO flour or eggs in them, and they are DELICIOUS!! Anyhow, making sure everything is left for hubby to fend for himself for a few days. Just chillin' now, on the Forum and watching Jeopardy at the same time.
