What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

My windowsill salad plant is growing. It's pushing the dirt up anyway. I'm impressed so far. I'll be tickled pink when I can actually make a salad. I'm growing kale, spinach and arugula. Everything came in the kit except for the water.

honny, how cute and this is not to put your effert's down, but I buy packaged kale mixed with other garden greens (delicious) for .99 and am hooked. ::smiling smiley but don't have the fun of growing...if spring ever gets here, I'll plant some herbs on the patio.

I am mulling over the fact how some ppl can be downright intrusive and annoying. Why do ppl keep asking me when I would be planning my second? When I say I'm not, they gasp like I've committed the sin of the century. When did it become a compulsion to have a minimum 2 or 3?? Sorry, I came here to rant. I feel a little loco today.
Mum, it's none of their business. Not even mothers, mothers-in-law, grandparents. Choosing to have one, or none, or waiting a long time between; all none of their business as long as you and your partner are doing what you judge best for you and your household.

It's Mardi Gras. Shrove Tuesday. Meaningful for some people. Not a big deal for others. These disparate views prompted me to think about other disparate views. According to a Congressional voting majority, same-stage babes and neonates will be neglected or treated depending upon other people's views, and some young persons will never have an opportunity to develop a similar or opposing point of view. Is the future of the globalized world going to be maintained, bettered, or worsened by the reduced opportunities for personal development? [That is today's wee wonderment.]

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. (Mark 10: 13-16)

10 See that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 18:10)

IGNORE, I have one and would rather have one good one than two problem kids.....you can give your one (as we did) the best of everything, enjoy and again, ignore. I always say: when you pay my bills, then give me advice, if I didn't ask for it, I don't want it.

Today brings a ton of errands, bank, Best buy, Trader Joe's where I bought wild Alaska Salmon and home to straighten before the crew comes Thursday.

I took a really nice Steak dinner for tonight, because as you said, Shrove Tuesday. Tomorrow is "fasting" which takes on a very odd meaning in my religion. I get to eat one full meal and two smaller meals that do not together equal the size of the one full meal....Seriously, this is right out of our rule book. smiling smiley

I sometimes wonder when I hear the numbers that are lost if we might have already made a choice that eliminated the person who would cure a terrible disease, or bring world peace. It saddens me. God Bless, and have a great day.

Hi Irene. I cook at home minimally. My meals come from shops, and I spread those over a few days. Fresh produce goes bad before I use it all. That's why growing my own is so appealing.

Even though it's Fat Tuesday, I needed to prepare dinner with what I had on hand. I made a lovely fried rice dish with asparagus, corn, green onions, fresh tomato, scrambled egg, and cashews. Paired it with a napa cabbage cole slaw. Decided the meal was too healthy for Fat Tuesday, so I cut a frozen pie crust into pieces, sprinkled them with cinnamon sugar, and baked until crunchy. Served with a fruit salad Hubby brought home from a pot luck breakfast.

I'm thinking that a snack before bedtime is in order, too.

I am re-reading a wonderful little book called They Thought for Themselves. The contributors describe their experiences, questions, wonderments, and decisions. As I think about what is coming before the Congress of the United States these days, it helps me to remember what one of the writers said about the transmission and distortion of information within his faith. He calls it a "thousand years game of telephone". Could this be how the leadership of a large, sovereign nation has devolved into a forum-patsy for prevaricating professors, wasters of children, and other malevolent causes and purposes?

On a cheerier note, we should have the newer vehicle tomorrow. This will be a good thing.

@KathyG I would have gladly eaten that for Fat Tuesday! I bought a brisket that was on sale and made homemade corned beef, with cabbage & potatoes. We had pumpkin pie for dessert.
Or if one of the ones eliminated was another Hitler or Osama bin Laden. You have to look at both sides of the coin.

A third side of the coin: let everyone live (unless for reasons we mere mortals cannot control, they die). Treasures, trash. Roses, thorns. Rainbows, rain. Research labs, abortion clinics. Meats, poisons. Potayto, potahto. We all, or our outlooks, are in there somewhere...

Are the supporters of infanticide starting out upon a journey which in future will include older persons, disabled persons, religious persons, or others who will be pushed off to the side or relegated to the -cide?

I'll be dusting off my acting skills today! First an apartment shop for a community that I didn't know was for low income seniors when I signed up. I will remember to take off my wedding ring before I go in, so I can portray the sad single who is "starting over". Later in the day an investment shop at which I'll talk about wanting to transfer over my substantial portfolio.

I have no idea how my day is going to play out.... I got up to go to work, just like any other day, but, when I walked out of the house: SNOW! On my snowy drive in to work school districts started cancelling and delaying school - but not my district (yet)... I pulled into the parking lot and a light layer of white stuff is on the ground and it's still falling hard... Weather reports stay it will let up by about noon.... So, am I going to teach today or go home? I have no idea.

It's my baby's bday today and I will be baking a cake. So, fingers crossed! We will be having a party on Sunday for her friends at the Rec Center. Besides that, a few phone shops, light cleaning and cooking today. Started watching Grace and Frankie. So far, not very appealing.
So far, so good. Work, extra work, more extra work, and more, still more, and even more work after that. I cannot work at the one job because it requires too much from my voice. I can do other little jobs which do not require much interaction. I am so nerdy that I tallied the worst case scenario. At most, I will need to make 10 utterances. Only three of them must be complete sentences. This is good. What is not good is how we got the extra work. Someone fell on ice and sustained injuries. They are off the job for awhile. We get to fill in for them. The money is good for us, but the best condition is when the injured person is back on the job.

Today is major cleaning day. waiting for my crew, baseboards, windows, the whole nine yards. Have a dinner at Sharkey's, posponed for a day, so won't have to cook. Going to SB while crew is here. Daughter will be in this weekend, spurcing up.....

I had big plans! It was gonna be a grand day! Then, I did work and the extra work. Now the plan is to do three house tasks and watch Rumpole. (Anyone remember this old barrister with the harrumphing commentary and "she who must be obeyed"?grinning smiley)

Today I had a spinal cord simulator placed for a trial. If it works out, I will be scheduled for a surgery to have one permanently implanted.

It's 2 electric probes that are long (think like a G guitar string) and lay on each side of your spine (in your spinal channel). That is connected to a "brain" that is programmed to send electric pulses that basically scramble the pain signal going to your brain, thus removing your back/leg pain (if it works). Think of it like those old blocks they put on your cable wire that would scramble HBO and other pay channels. Same theory. So far, it seems to be working for me, but the trial the brain unit is not yet implanted, so the wires are half in me, half out, and the brain is strapped to me with a velcro belt for a week. It is as uncomfortable as it sounds, but that is still much better then my chronic back pain from spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease. I was also offered a spinal fusion, but talking to folks, most of those the pain comes back after about 5 years, so I thought this was the better option.
