What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

The early am job is still happening... car troubles... both vehicles... Oh, well. Someone will help us today and tomorrow. Presumably, we will have feedback and possible vehicle repairs by end of business tomorrow. Our helper is taking care of the babies in the nursery at her church, just now, and she will then come to us. When I heard about her and the babies, I immediately thought of a song lyric: "He's got the itty bitty baby in his hands". She is so affirmative! Lucky babies. smiling smiley

Working up the courage to make a difficult phone call. I hate being the bearer of bad news!

I did a guest shop at Habit Burger today after church. I was hungry by the time I got there at 12:30. Hunger aside, the burger was delicious! I got a mushroom cheeseburger and a chicken salad and stayed under reimbursement.

Irene, are shoppers allowed to get kids' meals? I thought I saw this addressed, but I didn't see it in the guidelines.

I'm not sure, but they say to order anything you want.....I'm doing Habit next week, their salads are good as are their burgers. We have three in my town....

New week, new reads. I have Spoken from the Heart by Laura Bush and Believing in Magic: The Psychology of Superstition by Stuart A. Vyse. There is no connection between the books. I closed my eyes, reached into a shelf of yet-to-reads, and got these two. This bit of silliness might support the theme of the second book, haha.

Re-reading my daughters boss's book "There Must Be More Than This" by Dr. Judith Wright...it talks about soft addictions and harmless habits that keep you from the life you want.......just finished Michele Obama's book, what an interesting life and so bright, definitely gives young woman a hero to look up to.

My weekend was all work, regular job, a little mystery shopping with good bonuses and doing tax work for friends. I cooked once in the last 4 days. Thank goodness for my sis, always giving me leftovers during tax season. I'm finally making a dent in debt so it's worth it.
Researching Cancun for our July vacation. Did a couple of phone shops and cooking. Maths with DD and some reading. My legs are giving out now.
Mum...my daughter and boyfriend just returned...they went to a resort "Tilum or Tulum" and had a wonderful time. This was their season, weather was gorgeous.
I went to do my bank job, and find out they now require an appointment, so two visits and an extra 7 bucks....oh how to spend it.

@Irene_L.A. I researched the Tulum resort. It looks gorgeous. Sadly, I have to research something kid friendlysad smiley Could have gone there after our wedding.
The early job is not happening, again. No one was available to fill in for us. The good news is that it is certain that the better vehicle is a goner. The engine repair cost exceeds the resale value. It is a relief to know this. We can act accordingly and focus on the other vehicle. If all goes well, the other vehicle will have a better prognosis and will last for a few more months. We do not want to purchase another vehicle at this time. (If we must do that, we can. But we do not want to do that!) I cancelled two assignments and cannot schedule more until this vehicle situation is resolved. The scheduler is lovely, and I hope that other shoppers already have picked up the shops that I had planned to complete.

In better news, I have used the available time well. I completed twenty little projects, read some of two interesting books, and got enough sleep. If I can drag myself away from the computer, I can finish more little projects today.

So I am still online, but look at what I found. I found a great little comment from Michelle Obama that is perfect for a siggy. Mind you, it is too late to reform me and mold me into such a student soul, but it is not too late for today's younsters... grinning smiley

I called my apartment agent target from the parking lot of the bank shop I just completed, only to find out that she was out until Thursday morning. So I will come home and complete one report, then meet a friend for coffee. I also have to figure out dinner somewhere along the line.

Taking a chainsaw to the tree that came down in my yard last night.... 35 degrees... a foot of snow on the ground... cold rain... Blech.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
I HAD a bank appointment today at ten, (2nd try) and the Banker comes over, doesn't acknowledge me and takes the man sitting there, totally standing me up....pissed is mild for how I felt about him, rude to the core. He called me and told me to come in now, and I told him, I will invest my large sum of money coming in with another bank...
and I don't give a flying F___ if i get paid or not.

That's awful! I'm sure all the sordid details will go in your report.

DD and me prepared some Valentine cards for her class. Attached those little maze toys to the cards. Finished the third season of One Day At a Time. Rita Moreno is hilarious. Can't believe she is 87!!
I discovered the Veggie Sandwiches at Five Guys. I'm hooked. I'm doing as many shops as I can.

In limbo... waiting for a mechanical prognosos for the vehicle, a medical diagnosis for the hubby, and an update on the mil, who fell and broke a bone. She must wear a series of casts, and she has moved in with someone who can help her until she is able to manage on her own at home.

wales! You got the Cameron! YAY!!!!!!! How did the salmon turn out? How does your house smell?

House smells wonderful. Used alder wood. Salmon was wonderful. Used 2/3 of the amount of wood as the recipe called for, as I ad a small filet. Cabernet with smoked salmon; I am in heaven.

Work. Grocery store (not a shop). Catch up as much as possible on errands that were missed on the car-less days.

We still have a vehicle. The oldest and least comfortable beast runs. It could use loads of updates, but we can tough it out and laugh at the situation. It was extremely tempting to buy a different vehicle yesterday. But we did not do that. We followed the plan: other vehicle can wait for a few more months.

As soon as the hubby prints the recipe he wants me to make, I will make a stew n the slow cooker. This will provide leftovers, which will make the next busy work days tolerable.

Happy Valentines Day to those lucky enough to have a sweetheart.......today brings lunch at "The Habit",
a different location at a mall I never go to, so will go to the new improved Kohl's with my 30% discount, then lunch and a bit of browsing. Expecting a new storm, home to finish with my collecting stuff to give away.

Went to the eye doctor's office to see about getting contacts. I had gone in November to check on getting LASIK, but apparently I'm not a candidate for LASIK because I had Radial Keratotomy in 1992...and those incisions never heal. So people who had RK have issues with swelling and visual changes...ugh, thank goodness I've not had that!! I'm just needing reading glasses and my distance vision is 20/40, so it's not awful

However, I'm a wimp about my eyes. Eye doc couldn't get a contact in....I'm such a wuss!! LOL!! I had contacts back before RK...and they had to be hard lenses that I would put low in my eye and use my lower eyelid to "scootch" them up onto my eye....

I might just be getting a nice (consolation...if I'm gonna have glasses, they gotta be good ones....) pair of glasses instead!

Other than that fiasco, my 7 year old son has joined ballet, so took him to his lessons and it is adorable to watch him learn to dance (I have sons who are 17 and 13 who have both been in ballet for 6 years...and a daughter who is 16 who has been in ballet, tap and jazz for 7 years and on pointe for a year)

I'm looking forward to the spring recital with ALL FOUR of my kids in it!!! smiling smiley
I had two food shops today and one was a bust. When I finished the reports, I did some housework.

We close on a house on March 4. Considering that I will be doing 90% of the packing for 6 people, I decided to start on it today. I got four boxes packed. How pitiful! LOL
Work. Rest. Work at home.

I did not have time to complete the two books that I thought I could finish before today. Oh, well. I will finish them next week. It will be good to move on to other titles. I reached into a shelf of yet-to-reads and got... well, never mind. You don't care about that! i care about that. grinning smiley
