What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I worked and then watched Star Trek. I found another history book to read next week, and I found out that my dry shampoo comes in seven (eight?) different scents. Who knew, lol. I chose the pink can. It is supposed to be sweet, or something. I did not want to smell like a lime, a chocolate bar, a coconut, a tropical delight, or anything else. I just want my hair to be dry cleaned. Nobody needs to smell it! grinning smiley

To balance out the silliness, I came home and found out about the hunters in Alaska who shot a mama bear and cubs while the bears were in their den. These bears were monitored and the hunters were caught on tape. I do feel a full-on anti-absurd-hunting rant coming on, but I will save it for later. I think I can limit myself to one published rant per week, or something.

Pepco will come and do an energy use audit for free I think.

Are you, by chance, new to using a heat pump? If so, PM me. They have their quirks that can run up the heating bills.

Hi wales. I contacted Pepco's audit division and got crickets. I know from past experience that I have to figure this out on my own.

I am new to using a heat pump. PM on the way!

Spent the day hanging out at SB with friends, sitting in the sun....80% today, home now watching T.V., washing clothes and such....tonight 60 minutes and some cable crapola.

Schools closed due to Polar Vortex. Hence, the day is divided between cleaning, cooking and reading with DD. She is obsessed with slime these days. It looks disgusting but once you touch it, it's difficult to get your hands off it.
Today brings a bit of studying for jobs next week, so, Sprouts, errands, and home, housework, pay bills, lots of computer time.

Quick run to the grocery store before Polar Vortex and freezing rain/sleet/snow all arrive. Otherwise, reports from 2 big shops yesterday.

I am just here to tell y'all to stay inside if you are in the vortex area. I don't want to hear about any popsicle shoppers on the news!! Stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy your down time while we wait for the crazy weather to lift.

Enjoyed the wide, open spaces... Critters, snow-dusted scrub, bright blue sky with the occasional cloud for contrast, and a little work to break up the scenery...

We got an early release from work today due to weather, which meant I could leave at 2pm. My commuter bus came at 3:30pm. I ended up taking the train and a bus to get back to my car in the commuter lot. I'm glad I found an alternate route.

Honny,
Looks like a weather shutdown tomorrow! I do not drive when the school system in my county is closed!

Work, errands, work. I would rather be in the wide open spaces.

Hubby was working from home today because he didn't want to deal with cold weather. I tried not to let his concern affect me, but in the end did little but a quick Costco run and putzing around the house. At least I made paperwork progress on a couple of volunteer projects.

As I was putting dinner on the table I heard that my meeting for tonight had been canceled. Trying to decide if I want to find something productive to do, or just head straight for the couch in the family room.

Yeah, I had to dig myself out of the 1/2 inch accumulation. DC was a ghost town today!

Power just came back on here after nearly 4 hours without. Glad I replaced most of the windows before winter arrived. (And added attic insulation 2 years ago.) Indoor temp on main level only dropped to 58. (Overnight setting was 64) with wind chill below zero.
Finally have morning coffee.

@walesmaven glad your house stayed (relatively) warm. That is the nightmare situation, loosing power in that type of weather. Hope everyone is staying safe and warm out there!

Work. Nap. Play on forum.

I should work on projects, but I will probably go back to bed. Yesterday, I had a strong adverse reaction to a scent. Bleeeeeeeh! It was awful for me, but sleeping seems to help. Being well rested and armed with otc allergy stuff might make it possible for me to be at the place where the 'aroma' is without too much discomfort. It's worth a try.

In better news, the pants I bought on sale a few days ago fit me better now than they did when I bought them. Hopefully, that means I am a little bit smaller. The pants do not stretch, so... grinning smiley

Pouring in sunny CA., and I lost my camera and unable to upload cell's pic's and receipt. Best By will help, but had to buy an adapter and you can't change me, I find my camera so much easier to upload than this cell, so I bought the exact same camera as I had......guess I don;t want to learn anything new, done an done.

We were without power for a couple of hours in the middle of Tuesday night. Fortunately, by time I rolled out of bed it was back on.

Buffalo, NY got 2-3 feet dumped on them Thursday. That was on top of what they got the day before. Plows can't keep up with levels like that. Plus the below zero temps and the wind chill factor making it well below zero. Glad I don't live there.

So I did the math and determined that my purpose for mystery shopping, etc. can be to beef up my little savings accounts. I need $400 per quarter, on average, to meet the goal this year. I can include other revenue, of course. Payments from completed and scheduled assignments will exceed the first quarter goal. I realize that some of you can earn that in less than a day. But for me, it means I can wait for bonuses, shop during fairer weather, and have time for me. I need sleep, workouts, and real books. And, I want to do a mountain-town route when the weather is cool all day/all night. Can you say, this year will be downright fun and pleasant?
