What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I was going to go do a demo today but I have a sinus headache. I think I will just lay around in bed and watch TV, then get up later and make summer salads for dinner. I bought a whole bunch of fresh salad veggies at the farmer's market yesterday and I have a rotisserie chicken I can cut pieces off and warm up to put on top...and of course bacon, which kind of makes it less healthy but it darned sure tastes good with bacon on it. Most everything tastes good with bacon. Heck, I saw somewhere someone made bacon ice cream. I don't think that would be my thing, but...

JAS, I had a donut recently with some sort of maple glaze on top and crumbled up bacon....oh boy was it good.

Several years ago on Chopped (Food Network), when the dessert time came, someone made bacon ice cream. It must have been good, because the judges all loved it! I'm not sure how I would like it either, unless the smoky-type flavor can be turned into some sort of coffee-flavored ice cream, or something like that.
Yes, that must be where I saw it. I am a regular "Chopped" watcher. I don't know how they do anything in 20-30 minutes. It would take me that long to prep, but of course that involves opening a bottle of wine and of course drinking and/or cooking with it.
I also hope your headache gets better.

Try a peanut butter and bacon sandwich. It will change your life!

Today was church, a shop at my sports bar, and homework.

I joined this church less than a year ago. It's small and I love the people. We recently got a new pastor. He is more focused on building membership than doing a decent sermon. I'm not getting anything out of it. I'm actually thinking of finding a new church. That's a big deal for me.

Thanks everyone, my head is much better. It's just allergies and I get some intense pressure sometimes.

My FIL eats peanut butter and bacon sandwiches. Not my thing, LOL.
"Bacon. A whole damn plate of it." That was Pop's world in Grumpy or Grumpier Old Men. Pop lived to be ninety five years old before God "remembered" him. And there are, or were, a lot of real old guys who lived that long despite bacon, smokes, questionable booze, and other so-called no-nos. Go figure.

Anyway, this is Monday. I have the day off from all jobs, and I am reading. This is a good thing. Between chapters, I do the boring tasks that make life less dusty and less messy.

I still do not know if there is a place for this biz after my upcoming anniversary. I have a few more work days planned and time to think about this. I and the calculator tried this configuration and that one and a few other oddball scenarios. Based upon what I am willing to do (which is very different than what is available to do), I identified three likely options. I could quit altogether and start another job; have an actual small business that requires so little time that I would scarcely notice its presence in my world; or be miserable and work it too much and make bigger bucks.

I like the second option. It permits another part-time job and a different ratio of earnings.

This will be a slow easy week for me a phone shop today and a small merchanding job tomorrow , that is it for work. Today I am going to run family erands
Feeling a bit better, pain pills and shock of having two teeth pulled at once are gone, so this brings me to the library today, using printer (as mine is not working) for two new restaurants I'll be doing the 2nd and 11th.
Yea for the 2nd, they opened a new Burger place that is the rave, everyone is talking about it, not FF, just got shopped and I got it....good news, while the other many know is a great breakfast place I've been trying to get forever.....happy camper.

Irene, glad to hear that you are feeling better after your dental experience!!

Hubby & I will be taking our old 21" CRT tube TV to donate to a local thrift store. Goodwill (at least in my area) no longer accepts the older CRT tube-TVs for donations, but another local thrift area does. We finally got a larger 42" TV to replace the 32" we had in the living room, and put the 32" in the bedroom, which is why we've got this O-L-D TV to donate. It works fine, so hopefully someone can get some use out of it.

Hubby belongs to an organization that volunteers each year to fill up a bag of back-to-school items for a student. The school district provides a large paper bag with a list stapled on it so that the items will fit for a particular boy or girl student. So we'll also be going back-to-school shopping this afternoon for those items for his particular list.
Packing for a road trip that will include a vacation. It begins in hot, muggy areas for 2.5 days and then lands me on the NE tip of Maine for a week, where evening lows are in the low 50s and day times are from 55-70. Mosquito and tick precautions need to be observed, of course. Then back through hot muggy areas, with a couple of days of parking shops in Manhattan, so I will need clothing for walking there in extreme heat and humidity, of course. In Maine I have a bay side cabin so need to take a few food staples, a supply of wine, soap, etc, etc, etc. The wine and all of the video and computer equipment will have to be schlepped into my overnight stops (2 each way) and the freezer blocks that keep food, wine and equipment cool in the car refrozen over night. Organizing all of this is nuts !!! Good thing "Logistics" is my middle name.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Enjoy it all Wales, even the humidity, you'll be fine...mind over matter

I had a tooth start aching a little bit over the weekend...an already-filled one that the dentist tried to get me to replace the filling at the last tooth cleaning visit :-) My call first thing in the morning went to voice mail. While waiting for a callback I did some yard work and computer messing around. Now I have an appointment for 3:30, so will get dinner ready to put into the oven when I get home.

Oh, a root canal! I hope that's not too painful for you!! ~~Gentle hugs~~ your way!!
Wales, that time in Maine sounds wonderful!! My kind of temps for a few days, after living in muggy, humid weather most of the time down in the south (SC)....enjoy!! If I was up there, I'd go fishing!
Today is a catch up the laundry and do other household tasks since it's pouring cats and dogs and I can do my shops tomorrow. Also some shop scheduling and paperwork. And also drinking lots of coffee. Then I'll prep tacos for dinner and make pico de gallo.
Today finds me doing a small FedEx close to home, and Taco Tuesday, quick stop at .99 store, holding off for grocery shopping till the weekend when I have a couple Kroger's. Home and getting stuff together for my Salvation Army pickup next week, and paying bills.

I am working at several jobs every day from now through next Monday. The money is good, and at this time next week I will revert to just one or two jobs per day. That is the best.

Love donating school supplies for kids. One year my wife bought a hundred backpacks that she got for 5$ each and put paper and pencils and calculators in all of them. The local food bank gave them out. Shes amazing that way.
It turns out the tooth problem I thought wasn't a big deal yesterday really is...a small crack in the wisdom tooth on the lower left side. I went back today for repair, which couldn't be done. So now I have a temporary filling for two weeks to see if additional work needs to be done before they put a crown on the tooth.

On the way out the office computed my portion of the payment for the job, and let me know it will be a little over $600. Yikes!

@KathyG...I hear you, dental cost are so high, even with Ins...my bill is $4500, killing me, just can't get ahead.
Good luck to both of us.

Happy August! Happy, August? Happy? August? Supper is served. Or not. I had just a few moments in which to contemplate the meaning of punctuation. Now, I have to get ready for work. I would rather play with language. Oh, well. Soon enough the second job will be on hiatus and I will be doing little things such as playing with language, touching up the paint in a few places at home, and painting landscapes. Eventually, I might produce something that is good enough to frame and good enough for a serious critique. Until then, I have to trudge along to work...

I had a beautiful weekend at a retreat where I unplugged and got back to my spiritual life. Back to work now and wondering if my back is still trying to get better from the shots or if I need to tell the doctor the results were disappointing.

I have a few shops coming up tomorrow and through the weekend, but today is just a work day followed by a mandatory meeting about my son's care (he is disabled and we have to renew care-meetings every year).

Took the car in to a local transmission shop to see if the "bucking" we feel is transmission related. I really, really, REALLY hate taking car into transmission shop, because they usually tell you that you need a new transmission. HOWEVER....this one has a 4.7/5 star rating, and many of the reviews state how the car owner was told that it was just a minor fix, around $200 or so, instead of a new transmission. So, we took the car there this morning. There's an outside chance it could also be coils wearing out, so depending on what the transmission check shows, we may have our mechanic check the coils, too. Car is a 2003 Crown Vic with 194,000 miles on it, but rides really well....except for this little "buck" which has been going on for a few months now. So, we'll see!!

Edited to correct mileage from 179K to 194K!!
