What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Good day, morning coffee at SB with my buddies, Best Buy to get help with my new phone camera, Trader Joe's then home, lunch, pool listened to a young guys music and loved it, home playing on computer and watching Food Network. Relaxing, maybe a nap, don't the days fly by...?

OMG Irene! I saw online where there was a shooting at an LA area Trader Joe's. I am hoping that's not the one you went to.

No, it was in an hip area quite a distance from me.....L.A. is huge, but this was scary...I was watching it, one woman shopper dead...so sad.

I'm beginning the day by taking a raccoon we trapped out to the country to release it. We have a whole passel of 'em round here and have slowly been trapping them one by one. We live in a downtown neighborhood. Admittedly it's a small town but we deliberately didn't buy in the country because we didn't want to deal with this. Later I'll either go do some shops or reschedule them for tomorrow. I'll decide when I get back and take a look at the weather because it's raining.
It is pouring down rain here, for 5 days in a row. Since a garage shop will be 1/2 block from a city bat that has a great weekday lunch special, I will just take an umbrella and treat myself to lunch. The next garage is in an office building where I can just sit in the building lobby and stay dry. After that every one of my shops will require a walk with the 'brolly" until I finish the month on Wednesday.

Well. That was... unusual. I just figured out how I could survive with one less job than I now have. I do not plan on losing the job altogether, but this odd train of thought started with an upcoming hiatus. The workplace will be closed for 'awhile' for an upgrade. I decided to find out what would happen if the hiatus stretched into a longer period of time. What would I do then? I would be fine. I would just adjust a few budget lines here and there and wala! there would be enough money to live and acquire shop fees which would double or triple my monetary investment for them. But enough of that. This is Monday, I have a completely free day, and there are only two more work/shop days for me this month. Huzzah! After that, there may be a full-on camping trip, a day or two to loll about in the woods, or simply more free time at home. Can you say, porch time is free? grinning smiley

I say patio (not porch), but yes, both are free, and I will be cleaning/hosing my patio down, re-potting one plant,
and getting ready for another surge of overheat...it rained somewhere, but not here, just glum for 2 days, now well over 100% heat/humidity. Waiting for my Friday and Saturday dental Appts., which has the power over me and my outings/work....not a pretty site...falling apart like "Humpdy Dumpdy" sat on a wall, had a great fall.

We live in a suburb of a medium-sized city but we are really close to a metro park and not far from rural areas, either. We generally have a good amount of wildlife coming through, deer, rabbits, and tons of squirrels and birds, but lately we have had coons in our yard as well. We might have to start trapping too, because the enormous one my hubby saw last night on the back deck did not seem afraid of him, and that's scary. He said it was close to 40 pounds--I didn't even know they could get that big.

Talking about Raccoon's, I remember (years ago) building our house, we had one in the bedroom, extremely dangerous and scary, and huge, not afraid of anything, don't remember how we got rid of it, but I wouldn't go into the house which was under construction, until it was gone.

Yeah they are pretty fearless. I have no desire to hurt them but they need to stay the hell off our porch. We have been adopted by several feral outdoor cats who eat, sleep and play on our porch.

I just made home made sugar free ice cream. My ice cream maker is my favorite new toy.

I'd love to make sugar free ice cream, but I'm also Lactose Intolerant,,,can you make it with Almond milk?

LOL, my first thought (and please don't be upset) was if it's not real cream, and not real sugar, is it really ice cream? Now I am going to waste the whole day pondering this dilemma. Ugggg

Yes, it is a subsitute, but when you can't have both sugar and milk, you need an alternative...I drink Almond/Cashew milk and like it better than milk, and using Stevia works, I make smoothies all the time
using above mixed with fresh fruit. Sometimes in life, being creative works.

Yes I use Almond milk. It probably wouldn't be as creamy because I mix almond milk and real whipping cream but it would still be good. The thing I do that makes the difference is load it up with fresh fruit. There are thickeners you can get if it doesn't freeze properly. I have had a couple of batches do that but I think it was the minted chocolate I put in it LOL.
I wouldn't make it through summer on my diet without ice cream. I use erythritol which has a much better taste than other sweeteners and I actually use real cream. Using real cream in my coffee and cooking and my ice cream helps me not be hungry so I keep my calorie count way lower than on a low fat diet.

I have come to let you know I have reached a moment of clarity.

Iced Cream must have cream, but does not HAVE to have real sugar
Almond Milk would be Iced/Frozen Almond Milk
Yogurt is of course frozen yogurt

and now I really need some of one of the above for my sweet tooth after all of this thinking on sweet summer treats. LOL

Today I'm taking the stupid Maritz quizzes so that I can shop a ton of bonused gas stations. Further activity not yet determined.
Haus-Frauing plus prepping packaging to ship my latest Ebay sale item. Torrential rain and flash flooding of local streams prevent getting to planned shops today. I live between 2 modest streams (Sligo Creek and Rock Creek to the locals) that rise in the mountains NW of here. When there is heavy rain they rise with fast moving water covering the roads that parallel them or cross them. Every year someone dies thinking that it is safe to drive the parkway roads that closely parallel those two steams or even to drive across a local road flooded by the stream. Meanwhile low-lying areas along the Potomac River tend to need a lot of sandbags if these rains coincide with particularly high tides. (The river is tidal until a few miles beyond DC)

Was going to Marshall's but that's halted due to a large fire over there (Stevenson Ranch), so, stay in my town,
bit of mall, library, Taco Tuesday rolls around again, Cafe Rio for their amazing 2.00 taco's, they have a woman standing all day making fresh tortilla's by hand, they don't use micro, everything fresh daily, the best, with prices on Tuesday making things a must and easier than cooking. Watching the details of the Trader Joe's shootings,
guns, guns, what can I say.

There is nothing to ponder! NO!

Irene, the DC Metro area could send water! My local travel is very limited due to flash flooding of the "small" creeks here that feed the major river system.

Trying to discover who sent a new bicycle to me. This very large box was delivered via UPS yesterday evening. I had to ask the driver to help me to bring it in out of the rain! It is definitely addressed to me and comes from an outfit called bicyclebluebook.com. Did I will a lower level PCH prize that I know nothing about? The address label has my phone number, but "off" by one digit. My housemate and I are holding off on trying to open this monster package until I can contact the sender later today. (3 hour time difference). I could not be more surprised if a dinosaur had appeared in the garden! One thing I do know is that no bicycles have lately been charged to any cc account of mine.
