What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I need to cut the grass today. There's a heat advisory in place so I'll start in ten minutes (at 8 AM). Then come inside, clean up, and get ready for errands.

I had a DEXA test done two weeks ago. Have not heard the results yet, so I'm sticking my head in the sand and saying no news is good news. Since my last test revealed osterpenia I've upped my weight bearing exercises, including choosing to carry my filled shopping bags through the grocery stores instead of using a cart. We'll see if that helped.
KathyG, You're fortunate. Up until I ruptured my L4L5 two years ago, I LOVED doing my aerobic exercises with all their twists and turns, and carrying stuff and such as that. PLUS.....since my left mastectomy and 2 sentinel nodes removed, I'm not supposed to carry heavy stuff with my left hand, or have needles or my B/P done using my left arm, and stuff such as that. BUT......last December I found a video for a brief (12 min) cardiac workout for folks with back issues....I am SO happy I found that!!! So now, I can do those exercises plus my back exercises, plus, I still like to walk around the stores, or park a little further away in the parking lot, and stuff like that. I'm hoping the results of my DEXA scan get posted to a software program our hospital system uses called My Chart within the next day or two.
Work and more work. No projects. No time for projects. Huzzah! Yesterday, I found a cute dress and an adorable summer topper for it. They cost next to nothing, are in perfect condition, and were at the thrift store-- just waiting for the person who wanted "size XL stretchy" to come in and find them. I love dresses in summer because because they are more comfortable than shorts, capris, and pants. This dress is a wearable, non-caloric celebration of the fact that it is a small step down from "size XL stretchy" to "size XL".

I wish good health to all my over 50 members, spending more time on taking care of my health than I can believe.
Today will be Target for some bath products, exchanging a bathing suit and bank, back home looking for a bit of work, and trying to stay on a self inflected diet.....sad smiley

LOL (when I bother to take the cookie sheets out). Made me think of MOM.
Hump day. Will you have one or two humps with that? Anyway, I have only a few free minutes during this busy day. There is just enough time to read a few posts and post a few replies.

Getting stuff ready to leave tomorrow to head down to the Charleston area. My 45 year old step-son, who has gone through a real battle with alcoholism and went through detox & recovery several years ago, is getting married on the beach Friday!! He has been sober for over 3 years now, and is a hard worker, and really has gotten his act together. He met a lady who also did not want to be around any alcohol or drugs, and the rest, as they say, is history! My husband and I are so happy for him!! So we're getting ready today and will be leaving tomorrow. (Also going to post this in the Good News thread, since it is good news!)

"I know that a "C" in Algebra 2 will make it unlikely that you can get into Stanford. However, you finished the semester at 71% and failed the final. I am not going to change your grade to an "A," no matter how many emails you and your mother send."

"No, there is not any extra credit you can do - the semester is over. You should have spent our review time in class last week preparing for the final instead of texting your boyfriend."

"No, I am not going to round your 84% to an "A."

"No, you cannot retake a test next week. I have to submit your semester grade tomorrow."

"If you really wanted to pass the class, you should have done SOME homework this semester. Your 32 unexecused absences didn't help either - especially when you skipped test days. No, getting your mom to write a note will not help."

"Congratulations on the baseball going to State! No, throwing three shutout innings does not excuse you from your calculus test."

Ahhhh.... The end of the school year.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
I hear you, have been there, but with a straight A student having 9 years of classical piano, who got into many Ivy colleges but hangs her rejection notice from Stanford proudly on the inside of her closest. Now you can do more Jack's.......smiling smiley

Did a shop in a posh part of town, then went to the nearby mall and pretended I was going to buy some expensive clothes. Found the MOST beautiful Eileen Fisher linen shorts at Neiman Marcus. If I had an extra $138 dollars in my wallet I would have gotten them in an instant :-)

Numerous tasks. At least seventy tasks.
I and my back promise nothing beyond that number. LOL at the personal lexicon. According to the hubby, these 70 tasks are "doing nothing". "I really like it when we stay home and do nothing". Maybe that is because I am doing all the tasks? Oh, well.

Treat the dogs and yard for fleas - again. Paperwork and prepare for the shops on the weekend. Broke my record this month - part time MS - 1,800. And I feel it too. Finally got my camera. Video in the near future.

90+weather, thinking of taking a drive on the back road to Ventura Harbor or maybe Santa Barbara where it is cooler, picking up fresh fruits at the stands and lunch on the water....+ shopping. always shopping.....

Waiting for my long-time handyman to show up to attend to a list of small fix-its in the basement apartment. The off to Aldi and the BIG grocery store, with a quick stop at my housemate's bank. Then we will each collect one carryout pizza at the lovely, ridiculous carry-out price at our local Dominoes. Once home, she will be helping me hang the new blackout drapes in the living room and my bedroom. With much hotter weather than we used to get, and for longer periods, the solar gain in those rooms is significantly influencing the indoor temps (not to mention the cooling bill.) I have always used blinds and curtains to adjust to/tame solar gain throughout the day, since the house faces due east and due west. Now it is time for stronger measures.

I am so far along with my projects that I am ready for more shelving and more offloading. Huzzah!!!!! Everything that needs to be there at this time is centered around the mythical 'point b', where it is available for sorting. Of course, the projects are eternal and there will always be more projects to do. But since the moment that I drastically reduced my work in this industry, I have been at home long enough to accomplish this tremendous change and reach this level of improvement. All is well. Soon, there will be time for art. All will be even better, then... grinning smiley

eta: @walesmaven: You have given me a smile and a 'mom' memory. My mother had appropriate window treatments at all times and at all places. The window adornments were beautiful and practical. She hated my place because I do not like anything over blinds which blend with the walls. I always got an earful because how could anyone not have these drapes or those valances or thus and such window whatever-s because how can people live like that!? Her Inner Perfectionist rocked with the window treatments. My Inner Perfectionist had other ambitions. Alas...and fortunately, we live in the land of differences.

Today is church, then a walk around the pond with a friend and homework.

I am taking a Business Statistics class. I have an A average so far, and I have no idea how. I don't fully understand the meat of the course.

Honny,
Your situation is not unusual, I think. In my studies I took a total of seven (yup, 7) semesters of statistics and probability. This meant no doctoral pre-lims in that subject, thank heavens. What I realized around semester 4 of the 7 was that the reason that 1/3 to 1/2 of each semester was taken up by a total review of the prior required course was that for most people it took that long to really "gel." Moreover, the more advanced the course, the more likely that the exams would be "open book."

At 10 AM the MSC that I do 20-40 shops per month for will start releasing July shops to its "regular" shoppers for my home area (2 states and DC). Whatever the 3-5 of us do not grab before noon will then go onto the job board. So 10:00 to 10:30 will be pretty hectic. Fortunately, there is always a bit more than enough shops to go around, as rotations are in effect for most locations. I really love having nearly an entire month to select just when to do which shops. Makes it easy to combine these with other nearby shops that other MSCs release throughout a month.

After that, into DC for three shops while there is a weekend lull in traffic!

wales, as an engineer, I don't want to "get it." Math is supposed be objective, not filled with "maybes." I think that is what's frustrating me. Math does not have grey areas.

I just taking it easy Lannie over slept until noon so we did not go to church this morning, we had breakfast at 1.30 I am going to do those dishes , and make the bed. Have quite time. Plus a food shop with a small report.
Honny,
The math in statistics and probability is straightforward. The tricky part is which math to apply to which problem, lol. So I do not think that we disagree.

Following my great day yesterday in Santa Barbara, today's laundry, straightening up, Lifetime movies,
experimenting on a new low cal soup, Cauliflower/potato/broccili, almond milk and sour creme, turned out good and refreshing, can be served hot or cold. Playing Candy Crush and whatever keeps my mind alive.
Wales, you do 20/40 shops a month, hats off~!!!

Irene, many shoppers my age do that many and more. But I cannot drive at night, dusk or dawn, so that limits me and has for decades, lol. That makes me a lazy route shopper 'casue I have to be at my overnight stop before dusk.
